3 out of the 4 girls are off to a good start😉. The fourth seedling just broke the surface🙏. Using Pro Mix HP Mycorrizae. Each 3 gallon pot has 126mL of Gaia Green 4-4-4, and 54mL of 2-8-4 mixed in. Watering with plain tap water at 6.8 pH. Quictent 2x4x7ft grow tent Electric Sky ES 300W led Vivosun 6"x16" carbon filter 6" HyperFan 315 cfm 35W

I could use some feedback from the great grow gurus. 1. I suspect I am making the #1 newb mistake...overwatering. 2. My soil mix is a little too high on nutes. 3. Some kind of nute lockout??? 4. Light stress. I have been lowering the ES 300 an inch per day. From 36" to 30"

Added 100mL of Gaia Green worm castings, (top dress) per pot, midweek. Started LST at week 2.5. Bending them over to expose lower branches to the light. Pretty happy with the growth this past week😃.

Real happy with this week. I now realize, I like the training aspect of growing. Thinking ahead to the next grow with a photo period. Maybe mainlining, ( I prefer the term manifolding). A little tip burn appeared after I watered with Cal-Mag...need to dial back some😬. Flowering has begun👍, and so has the odour!

The girls really grew this week 😃. On Monday added dry amendments, Gaia Green 2-8-2 and 4-4-4 as a top dressing. On Friday added 100mL per pot of Gaia Green worm castings. Watering in with dechlorinated tap water pH'd to 6.5. A real exciting time as a new grower!

Grow Questions

Over the next several weeks...What should I expect to see, regarding the fan and sugar leaves. Do the nutes in the leaves get consumed for flower production? I don't want to freak out over any change in appearance. I plan on only using pH'd water till harvest. Thanks 4 the advice

the plant will only canabalise itself during the flower stretch if it doesn t find its nutes in the soil or through it's foliage. The rate at which the plant will seek out nutrients depends on its metabolism which in turn depends on the light schedule and the "vapor pressure deficit" (VPD). You're 10/10 VPD-wise, and your light schedule is intense actually so you can expect BIG growth ! Big growth means more nutes needed, simple as that. Therefore you should for sure expect to see some yellowing, starting with the bottom fan leaves. Since you're not going to be giving any more nutrients, you need to keep an eye on what's going on - there will be "expected yellowing", but you need to stay on top of it in case you run into som "unexpected deficiencies or related problems... does this answer your question at all? hope this helps ! 🚀

The buds are stacking up and putting on weight! Many new trichomes forming. A pine/lemon smell is filling the tent😍. Started to see my first signs of trouble (see leaf photo above). What I believe to be magnesium Deficiency (note the red/purple stems) Those who know, please chime in below. Also have some nute burn on the leaf tips (suspect too much nitrogen). Trimmed a few leaves here and there. Happy with my results at week 2 of flower! Looking forward to the coming weeks😜

Spent this week learning about VPD. Turns out my relative humidity was way too low. I'm in a winter climate with forced air heating, and the air in my home is really dry this time of year. Added a second warm mist humidifier to the tent in a effort to bring RH% to 50-55. The pistils are changing colour from white to a redish orange, and the odour has increased significantly this last week! Just dechlorinated, Ph'd water from here on. Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year everyone!🙏 EDIT: JAN 8, 2019 Turns out my hygrometer has been reading 25% RH, when infact the RH% is 40 to 45%. See comments week 8.

Ohhh Boy, exciting time in my grow tent this week😃. Added a few new grow toys this week (Merry Christmas to me, lol) A digital Wi-Fi microscope, and an INKBIRD ITC-608T, Temp/ Humidity, Monitor/controller. The girls are showing their fall fade colours this week. Buds are swelling, pistils turning orange, and trichomes are turning cloudy. Been flushing with dechloranated tapwater Ph'd to 6.5. The tent smells delicious!!!!😋, a pine/lemony citrus smell, and I find myself sniffing my fingers long after working on the girls😍. These girls are quickly heading towards harvest! Grow question regarding harvest timing to follow. Hope everyone had a great week 🙏.

Congrats on the cool new kit ! Yeah trichomes are the only thing that matters, after all pistills will turn Amber once you chop , and how quickly or even if they turn Amber is strain dependent . So you want to check out the trichomes at minimum 40x or more, 60x is more comfortable and 100x looks like an alien planet. You're at something like 60% cloudy right now, So keep checking daily because the trichomes can turn overnight . So for maximum thc as you know you want all cloudy no clear, and for that it's better to wait until you see the first Amber trichomes. A lot of the time a plant will ripen faster on the main cola rather than all over at the same time, if that's your case harvest the main first then the rest a couple weeks later. The dark period is basically so that there are less photosynthesis chemicals present at the chop which really helps with the cure, 12-24hrs is all you need, more than that you're likely to mess with the trychomes but boost terpene production. Remember though - thc production happens mostly during the cure ! The cure is very important ! The cure starts the moment you chop until the bud s humidity reaches 50%, light is a no go, try to chop in the dark and jar in the dark to preserve the very sensitive terpenes. Chop, then hang the plant whole, drying period is done when the little popcorn buds snap off the stem audibly . Manicure and jar the buds, inspecting them daily for one to two weeks (remove them completely from the jar then back into the jar again) , then weekly for the next four weeks. You can add boveda packs after the first week or two I be used the 62% ones but I'll be trying the 58% ones next. A bit more than what you asked for, but I hope this helps ! Good luck crossing the finish line ! 🚀

So....what did I learn from my first grow? 1. Growing cannabis is FUN!!!😃 2. While cannabis is not addictive, growing it sure is!! 3. Training and manipulating the plants is a relaxing pastime. 4. The importance of the grow tent enviroment....temp, air flow, humidity, light levels, etc. 5. VPD 6. How to inspect trichomes, and assess plant harvest times. 7. The harvesting, drying and curing process. I'm real happy with my first grow, and would like to thank all the great people in this community who helped me along the way😀 . The pictures of the scales are incorrect. 16grams for the weight of the plastic tray needs to be subtracted off the indicated values. Lamb's Breath Auto 1 (LBA1) weighed 52g, LBA 2 50g, LBA 3 35g, LBA 4 (The Runt) 28g for a grand total of 165g. Plus 25 grams of prime trim, and 0.5 grams of scissor hash: 1:. You can see in the photos that I really bent and tied these plants down ( perhaps not quite LST, more like MST)😜. The plants grew about 10 to 12 inches tall. These plants would really suit a closet or tent with low ceilings. Looking forward to the next grow, just started 3 types of photo periiods - Blueberry, Blue Cookies, and Glueberry OG...so keep an eye out for some new diaries, and please drop by and leave a comment. 😃Peace, DeaneR.
