Germination
5/13-Put seed in water overnight and then into paper towel next day
5/15-Prepped Coco with initial feed on the light side
5/15-Germinated seed into the Coco
5/17-Seed sprouts
Week #1-May 18-24
5/20-Off to a good start.
5/22-Solid first week. This first week I used my standard first week nute load which is very light to start. If you read through the OSMH page on the Mephisto website you'll see that they recommend almost no nutes for the first 5 weeks and stress that too much food is a showstopper for this strain. Keeping that in mind I watered with only Ph adjusted water on the last watering this week and noted that there is very little nutes in the runoff. I'll see how she responds and will keep the nute load light next week as well.
Week #3-May 25 to May 31
5/25-Keeping the nute load light (almost nothing) as recommended by Mephisto. Plant seems to be doing nicely so I'll continue with that recipe.
5/27- Increased the nute load ever so slightly to EC .50 by mixing RO only water with week #2 feed schedule I'm using on Fast Buds Apricot Auto. Will monitor effects. Looking good so far.
5/28-That slight increase in nute load is showing some slight negative effects. While the plant looks very healthy I noticed a slight yellowing of the leaves between the veins. So I prepared a foliar spray of RO water with a touch of CalMag. In addition, Mephisto advises that this strain likes very moist medium so I did a little mini-flush with RO water with no nutes and brought the ppm down to 250 again. Finally, I moved the OSMH into the big tent where I can dial up a bit more blue light in the veg phase. Ppfd levels are 500 ish. We'll see how she looks in the morning.
5/30-Plant is filling out nicely although she seems a bit on the shorter side at 3 inches. I'm keeping the coco saturated to follow Mephisto advice on this strain so I'm watering a couple of times a day. I upped the nute load a bit a using just Coco Grow Å&B with Cal Mag on the first watering and then increased it a bit more on the 2nd watering by diluting the Apriocot auto mix to about 450 ppm. The leaves appear to have regained a bit more of their green color. Will continue to monitor.
Week #3-June 1-7
6/1-Watered with diluted nute load that I'm using on Apricot Auto that comes out to around 450 ppm. Color seems to be returning to the leaves. Hoping to see a little stretch this week.
6/2-Upped nute load again to 490 ppm. Plant is looking healthy so I decided to FIM to see if I can increase yield. Will monitor for adverse effects.
6/4-Upped nutrients to 5.9Ph/EC .95/670 ppm.
6/5-Watered to runoff. No adverse effect so far from FIM. Looks like we are getting 4 new branches. No adverse effects from increase in nutes. Plant grew an inch over the last couple of days and is getting very bushy.
6/7-Continued solid growth after 3 weeks. She is starting to stretch a bit and is now up to 6 inches.
Week #4-June 8-14
6/8-Watered to runoff at 5.5/760 ppm. Up to 7 inches tall now and the canopy is starting to spread out.
6/10-Watered to runoff. Tucking leaves
6/13-Did some defoliation on bottom branches. Canopy is shaping up nicely now
Week #5-June 15-21
6/16-Switched over to flowering nutes. Looking for some stretch this week.
6/19-Starting to stretch a bit. Up top 10 inches now. Lots of bud sites starting to show. Since this strain is crossed with Mango Smile I compared the progress at Day 33 to my last Mango Smile grow and at this point they are looking good.
6/21-Canopy is spreading nicely and preflowering is in full force. Still not alot of stretching yet.
Week #5-June 22-28
6/24-Increased the nute load. Seeing a bit more vertical stretch now. Up to 12 inches so far. Still would like to see more this week. Canopy is spreading out nicely with lots of bud sites developing. This one is starting to shape up nicely!
6/26-Up to 13 inches.
6/28-Did some defoliation to thin out the middle of the canopy and encourage big buds up top. She grew another inch to 14 inches. Next week I'll increase the nute load one final time as she heads into full flowering.
Week #8-July 6-July 12
7/6-Bud sites are slowly starting to stack. Still quite small. Hopefully they will start to put on some bulk. Stretch seems to have stopped at 22 inches.
7/8-Bud sites starting to get more dense and stacking more obvious. I think she looks ready to start packing on some weight. Trichomes are starting to appear. Runoffs are good. This one looks like she might have a good yield in her. We shall see.
7/12-End of 8 weeks and the plant is definitely exploding with buds...but they are all quite small and undersized at this point. I'm hoping that the start to bulk up in the next couple of weeks. This one feels like its still got 3-4 weeks to go.
Week #9-July 13-July 19
7/15-Changed up the nute mix a bit by adding Overdrive and reducing other nutes a bit. From a distance the plant looks good. But when you look up close the buds are very small and not very dense. They are stacking and there are a ton of them...they are just really small at this point. Perhaps this just means that this gal is going to take a couple of weeks longer to get where it needs to be. I'm concerned though that this one might be underperforming. We shall see.
7/19-9 weeks done now. No amber pistils and still not as big and dense as I'd like. This one feels like it still has 2-3 weeks to go at least.
Week #10-July 20-July 26
7/24-Pistils are starting to turn amber now and the buds are getting a big more dense. Still feels like she is a couple of weeks away.
Week #11-July 27-Aug 2
8/2-The top colas are ready to be harvested. Lot of amber trichomes now and I'll cut those and then lower the lights to let the middle and lower buds get a bit more ripe.
Week #12-Aug 3 to Aug 9
8/4-Trichomes are getting amber and lower branch buds are firming up. Another couple of days should do it. Just feed RO water now. PPM down to 375.
8/5-After letting the bottom branches grow for another 4 days they were showing plenty of amber and had firmed up enough to harvest. Did a rough trim and hung the branches in Cannatrol Cool Cure to dry.
8/11-Overall the buds were a lot smaller than previous Mephisto grows. I'm going to let them cure for 2-3 weeks and then do a real taste test.
