First try to germinate the strain was directly in substrate, never had luck with that and oh wonder all seeds just died because the germination green house got caught in a thunderstorm and the rain drowned everything.
This is the second try and this time I am not taking an chances, I am back the the good old paper towels, works like a charm.
The vermiculite in the mix is not mixed in, it is the lowest layer, because the pot I will be using has a water reservoir and vermiculite does not degrade while wicking up all the precious moisture and nutrients.
The "other" ingredient is plain seramis, a trademarked generic clay based potting media.
It is quite expensive, but it's peat free, non flammable and I have had it laying around.
Update (31.05.):
Moved the germinaton Greenhouse to a shaded side of our roof deck as she is desperatly stretching for light and the kitchen window wasn't cutting it anymore, let's hope I'm not making a big mistake here.
Update (01.06.)
The seeding moved, including the cardboard pot and all substrate into its final home. The substrate was fertilized once with BioBizz fish mix and alg a mic, and it got some serious rain afterwards, will feed her as soon as the reservoir drops.
Talking about reservoir, I installed an aquarium bubbler to prevent root rot.
For now, the plant will be protected by a plastic "plant-hat" cover, this will keep the humidity up and the elements out.
I should get an outdoor weather station, we have like three seasons every day, good thing it's not hailing.
We had a lot of rain the last week, I should collect some runoff to measure pH and EC, need to calibrate my probe.
The plant is still protected by the hat, I am only removing it for the photos.
I am toying with the idea to move the pot from their shaded place, but I am afraid, they'll get sunburned, I'll do it sooner or later, for now I wait.
Impatient he is, I did "wait" one day and moved the pot. Now the plant gets shade and indirect light for most of the day and about 4 (? should check) hour of high intense afternoon light
I always stress myself because I don't have any control over the life cycle of auto plants.
It looks a bit stressed, but we will see.
Well hello there, it's week two and not a lot happened, our lady does not seem to be particularly amused.
Sorry for the lack of updates, but we are in the middle of our move and other stuff took priority, detailed Updates will resume shortly.
Thank you for your patience.
Will continue the heavy feeding for now, it looks like she's busy rooting.
Baby's still wearing it's hat.
Update 14.06.
Our baby is obviously perfectly fine, my gf has the same seeds and hers is looking like a twin
curious how much more time she'll need for takeoff.
This evening I realized the fluff at the stem and I decided to remove the hat, no more humidity dome for our gurl, it's quite cloudy, let's say I am reasonably sure she's fine.
15.06.
The fluff worries me, but I think she's fine, a bit stubby, but not particularly weak, no discoloration.
I am pretty sure I won't top/fim her, but I will definitely give her some lst just to have her branches nicely spread.
17.06.
She's having issues, Daddy was probably overfeeding her and now she's sick. My bad, errors have been made.
It might have been the sun or the fluff, but this is not the time to risk it, so I did flush her pot with 10l of tap water.
I should build some shading, don't want to move the whole pot again, it's quite the hustle, considering it's connected to the other pots via the air line for the bubblers.
18.06.
I am learning a lot since I am using growdiaries, wilt: Calmag on coco is mandatory, non negotiable and saplings are indeed very susceptible to nutrientburn.
I did redo the nutrient composition and I flushed the pot with 10 l of the new, lower concentrated solution, I also added Biobizz Calmag and I adjusted the pH to 5.6 with BioBizz pH down.
Let us just hope this ain't ending in a royal fuckup.
Ok, well hello there,
it's been week 3 since two days, the move is still going on and it's difficult to keep track of all my growing fckups.
20.06.
Anyways, she regained some strength after I flushed the pot with half concentrated fertilizer with added Calmag.
I did add a support yesterday, maybe I can redeem myself.
22.06.
This is a Desaster, I am learning a lot.
Stay positive, hang in there lil gurl.
23.06.
She is definitely regaining strength, fresh leafs are looking vital.
We had a troublesome start, mistakes have been made.
Anyways, week 4 starts, everyone is still alive, let's go!
27.06.
Did flush with 10l of fresh fertilizer solution, finally did note EC and pH
30.06.
will fertilize as soon as I get time to do it
added 5 l of fresh fertilizer solution, EC is high, but reservoir is full of rainwater
01.07.
Ok, here's the deal, we are having rain every day, I'd be happy if this was an open ground soil grow, and my garden is happy as can be, but with coco it's a different story.
All the precious nutrients are getting washed away, so I could either hand fertilize at least twice a day, but I am afraid this will lead to a lot of human errors.
I think I will try some leaf spray, let's see what I can come up with.
01.07. evening
I made a spray with
1 ml/l Plagroon Calmag Pro
and
10 ml/l Primastar Universal fertilizer.
I know I should be using a surfactant, but my polysorbate 80 is somewhere in a buried move box and something is better, than nothing.
I did order some yucca root powder, but for now it's a no wetting agent spray.
I already had the Primastar fertilizer and they advertised their product containing "precious humic acid and growth and vital substances", so I'd decided to give it a try.
So I gave my baby a throughout spray down and I intend to repeat the treatment after every heavy rainfall.
02.07. Start of veg week 5
Good news everyone (TM),
the foliar spray did not kill our baby.
03.07.
the spray is magic, just Play make belive
04.07.
Did redo my foliar spray, this time I uses one cap of the fertilizer in 1,5 l yucca root tea, with 5 ml/l Plagroon Calmag Pro. and again sprayed the whole.plant with it.
In addition I did mix up 5 l of fresh fertilizer and flushed the pot and reservoir.
08.07.
I did definitely mess up the vegetation cycle, but worry not, some times you win sometimes you learn.
Anyways, this is definitely the last veg week, and we will have a cute lil bonsai gurl.
Positivity wins XD
Hello everyone,
the Delhi Cheese started to flower, did some LST and flushed the pot and reservoir with 10 l of fresh fertilizer solution.
10.07.
it's raining men, hallelujah it's raining... again and again, goodbye summer, for now at least.
I am thinking about an automated watering system, not to keep the plant from drought, but to keep the fertilizer concentration in check.
I have a half finished drain to waste system, maybe it's time to get it up and running.
12.07.
We have a new watering setup, and we are not using it.
The pot reservoir is 7 l and the plant uses about 300 ml a day at the moment, no need for automation.
For now at least.
I did install the whole setup for another plant, that drinks about 2 l a day, I'll open the valve for the Delhi Cheese as soon as I have the watering interval dialed in.
I mixed up some new foliar spray, this time I used
20 ml/l Plagroon Calmag Pro
1,3 caps/l universal fertilizer
and
60 ml/l 11,9% H2O2 (equals 0.71 % H2O2)
maybe it's a bit high in the H2O2 side, but we'll see, yolo.
15.07.
I stoped the foliar feeding, not because the spray is not working, but because there are finally some real flowers forming and no one wants to smoke organic fertilizer, aka fermented food industry waste.
Well, hello everyone,
we started week 7, not a lot happened, not expecting much from this grow.
I am quite occupied with renovating our house.
17.07.
Ok so I did measure our baby and she did grow 5 cm in length, I am always a little bit confused about the plant height entry after LST.
The plant is about 10 cm high, but the longest stem is 20 cm long.
18.07.
The reservoir is still full but I think I should be watering, something is off, the leafs look a bit pale to me.
20.07.
The leafs did look good, still did refresh the fertilizer
21.07.
Our plant is picking up steam, we had a fairly decent stretch so far this week and she's starting to drink noticeable amounts.
Ok, high there,
it's quite stressful around here, my back is killing me, here my words, guys, gals and other pals, everyone only one cross they say in Germany, watch your back, literally, as soon as you ruined your spine, you are in to a world of fun and pain for the rest of your pitiful life's.
That being said, yoga and occasional painkiller help.
I am preparing the foundation for our new sheds, earth, pebbles and stone are heavy, I am sorry, but my diaries are suffering from that.
But hey, here we are.
We reached a height 15 cm, with a total length 30 cm.
She started smelling, life is good.
Will probably, like finally engage the automated watering this week.
Until then, stay safe, stay healthy and happy grow to all of you.
26.07.
did "activate" the watering yesterday, it will nee some more work, I have one pump for two different pots with vastly different sizes plants, even though they are in the same span of their lifecycle.
One is very! thirsty and this one her needs just a bit of water in comparison.
I have an inline valve, but precision is something completely different.
Will update nutrients as soon as I refill the tank.
said and done XD
Good news everyone*
The watering is working okish, organic fertilizer is foamy af, this is annoying, as my bubbler did make a mess last week.
A hose to clean them all, the foam did dry as a unpleasant black residue, need to reiterate the system if I want to use it indoors.
02.08.
somehow I did a major counting error 😂 I wish I'd find some time to correct my fumbling, but working on mobile only for now as my desk is still mia, moving sux 😆
(* good news may vary)
04.08.
counting is hard, did correct day numbers
This is the way*
(* or so they say)
I am still very much occupied with our move, it's a neverending story, but progress is progress.
The plant uses about a liter a day.
Did refill the tank, nutrients have been updated.
07.08.
funny how my idea with the trellis ring is being pushes away by the plant, somehow to be expected.
She grows quite asymmetrical and the ring is made for stabilisation and not for stress training.
Well, hello there.
Watering system is working fine,
flowers are looking good and slowly getting fatter,
this is looking good so far, will need to make new fertilizer solution soon.
So long, stay safe folks.
14.08.
refilled the tank, biobizz fertilizer is forming blackish brown foam, very unpleasant.
This is the first time that I am actually taking detailed notes about my grows.
I wonder how much longer they flowering will last. The plants lifecycle should be about three months, we are in week 11 so that would be about one more week, give or take.
Maybe I'm just st00pit and it's a three month flowering cycle.
The plant is not showing any signs of wilting and the trichomes are just milky, at least she's getting her flowers frosted.
Flushing coco is very easy so I am not a bit concerned, will continue the feeding until her natural lifecycle comes to an end.
Things,
good news* everyone,
(*good news may vary)
I did refill the tank at night, might have had some issues adjusting the pH, but hey high EC is high nutrients, right.
That being said, I also did switch to Calmag Pro by Plagroon, biobizz is quite pricey, organic fertilizer is so messy, so why bother as long as we ain't growing on soil with a good mycology and microbes.
Back to good ol minerals.
She's getting smellier every day and I even spotted the first traces of amber in her trichomes, harvest day is getting closer.
(closer is relative)
Yo, what's up everyone,
not a lot happened this week, trichromes are still getting milky and I am happy to see traces of purple at the tip of her flowers.
Stay safe, keep growing!
29.08.
New fertilizer batch, maybe the final one 🤩
01.09.
We can finally see some color changes in some of the leafs 🌿🍂 autumn is setting in for our baby.
I had major issues mostly because of my lack of experience with autoflowering plants, experience has been gathered.
Can't say more until the harvest has been dried, cured and processed.
The flowers got cured at 64% RH for 43 days afterwards I froze a sample of 8.8 g for later testing.
The rest got dried down to 12 % RH at -19°C, resulting in 11,5 g of plant material that I then ground and dry sifted.
This resulted in 4 grams of pressed very low quality hash.
The biggest mistake was to grind the plant material after drying out, this caused a lot of plant debris to end up in the hash.
However, I managed to collect two incest seeds for further adventures.
Well, hello everyone,
our baby did decide to get children in the end.
Even though I am a little bit disappointed, this does not come as a surprise for me. As far as I know, cannabis ruderalis is genetically coded to reproduce over the course of a maximum of three months.
Having the plant growing for 13 weeks in hog weather was kind of asking for a stress reaction like hermaphroditism.
I was planning to wait until the trichomes are about 20 % amber, obviously that was kind of greedy.
I removed any foliage that was not a sugar leaf and I flushed the pot with tap water until the runoff was of reasonable low EC, sadly I did not think of siphoning off the inbuilt reservoir, so I had a lot of flushing to do.
Two day later I fell the tree, weighted it wet with stems and hung it in a shower to slowly dry.
The drying will probably take 3 days to a week and after that I will remove the buds from the stems and do a preliminary weighing prior to curing.
the curing will be done in a controlled humidity box, for at least a month, after that I will select one or two beautiful buds for comparison and save them in the freezer.
The rest will be grinded, dried, frozen and sifted, our baby will be made into Hash.
For personal reasons I am not allowed to consume weed until next year, but I am looking forward to tasting and rating the results.
Until then, stay safe and keep growing 💚
