05-30-2024
- Soaked seeds for 12 hours in water
- 66% Happy Frog / 30%Perlite blend with 1 tsp Dynomyco added in 16 oz Solo cups
- Initial bottom watering using 2-cup method
- Germination kit light set at 5 reading 230 PPFD at cup rim
- Temp 75 degrees F, Humidity 75-80%, VPD 0.4 - 0.8
06-01-2024
- Plant #2 has sprouted
06-02-2024
- All three have sprouted
06-07-2024
- Bottom watered all three
- Rotated plant #1 to middle location
- Turned light up to 6 from 5 as they are stretching a bit, 280 PPFD at top of plants
- Refilled humidifier
06-11-2024
- Bottom watered all three
- Rotated plant #3 to middle location
- Turned light up to 7 from 6, 300 PPFD at top of plants
- Saw a fungus gnat flying around, added yellow card and will order some diatomaceous earth / give it longer between next watering
06-14-2024
- Removed humidity dome as they are showing true leaves
- Switched to actual light, setting 4 at 24", 330 PPFM at top of plants
- Fans set at 1 to ease them in
06-15-2024
- Refilled humidifier
- More fungus gnats caught, sprayed soil with Neem oil while I wait for BTI / Diatomaceous Earth to ship
- Fan set at 2 to get a little more air movement and to get the leaves shaking a bit more to strengthen the stems
06-18-2024
- Refilled humidifier
- Bottom watered all three (1 week dry), 6.3 pH + .5 ml CALMAG
- Additional top water of 30ml each of BTI water for gnats
06-23-2024
- Transplanted yesterday to 5 gallon fabric pots, Natures Living Soil on bottom third. Roots looked good, just starting to wrap the bottom of the solo cup. Added Dynomyco to holes prior to planting
- Plants showing signs of distress like Nitrogen deficiency of some sort, odd with new soil... will continue to monitor and see if it corrects post-transplant
- Watered 1/4 gal per, with 1ml/gal calmag, 1ml/gal FloraMicro, and BTI at recommended dosage for gnats
06-25-2024
- Refilled humidifier
- Removed supports as stems have thickened up
- Suspect lower leaves are hitting a phosphorous deficiency actually... considering a top dress of NLS as this Happy Frog bag gave me trouble last grow as well, think it was just a bad / old bag and hoping that once the roots hit the bottom third it'll perk up
- Not seeing as many gnats now, hoping the BTI helped. Will repeat in a week or so just in case, and begin putting diatomaceous earth after next watering
06-26-2024
- Watered 3 cups each, with 1.5 ml CALMAG, 2 ml Floramicro, 1.5 ml Floragrow, 1.5 ml Florabloom, 6.3 pH
- Plants still showing what looks like phosphorous deficiency, but new growth seems better so far, will consider a top dress of NLS this weekend when watering if plants respond well to liquid nutrients
- Gnats still seem under control, continue to monitor and continue BTI treatment once a week for next two weeks, diatomaceous earth after Sunday's watering
06-28-2024
- Plants have bounced back and greened up significantly
- Proceed with organic top dress on Sunday watering
06-30-2024
- Turned light up to 4
- Added 1.5 Tbsp Natures Living Soil per plant as top dress and watered in
- Watered 2.5 cups each , 6.45 pH with 1.5 ml CALMAG and a few drops of essential minerals
- Plants greening up nicely now, no further signs of gnats
07-04-2024
- New gnat or two on trap, watered in BTI at 4 Tbsp / gal soaked for 30 minutes
- Watered 1/3 gallon per plant, 1.5 ml CALMAG and 3 drops of essential minerals, 6.3 pH
- Light at 420 PPFD on center plant, 320 on sides
07-05-2024
- Added diatomaceous earth on top, 3 Tbsp per plant
07-07-2024
- Watered 5 cups each, 1.5 ml CALMAG and three drops of essential elements at 6.5 pH
- Upped light to 5, 500 PPFD at center, 420 PPFD at sides
- Tied down all plants to springs
07-11-2024
- Watered 5 cups each, 1.5 ml CALMAG and three drops of essential elements at 6.5 pH
- Used 4 Tbsp BTI as I see some more gnats on the trap
- Trimmed one large fan leaf each to get some light to some lower spots
07-12-2024
- Added 2 Tbsp diatomaceous earth to all three
07-13-2024
- Trimmed suckers on all plants, and a few leaves
- Plant 3 is stretching significantly more, LSTed branches down all around, also feeling lighter, move up to 1/2 gal watering tomorrow
- Adjusted all tie downs
07-14-2024
- Bottom watered 1 gal each, 1.5 ml CALMAG, couple drops essential minerals, and 6.5 pH
- Plant 3 pulling ahead, 2 seems bushy but 1 seems to be lagging
- Still seeing gnats on traps, continue BTI from top at next watering
07-18-2024
- Top watered .33 gal each, left over water from bottom watering to recapture any nutrient washout
- Added 4 Tbsp BTI to soak for a few hours in the water as a final attempt to get rid of any remaining gnat larva (week 3)
- Moved plant 3 to the center as its doing the best, and to give plant 1 a break from dual fans hitting it to see if its just getting wind burn
- Plants are growing ok (plant 3 genetics seems to have way more stretch, training going well), plant 1 is most stunted with leaf formation not being as even, could be gnat infestation, or just genetics. Plant 2 is somewhere in between, just more bushy than plant 3, but looks healthier than plant 1
- Go back to a heavy bottom water on Sunday
07-20-2024
- Added diatomaceous earth, 4Tbsp to each plant, and broke up soil a bit on top as application has caused the top inch or so to solidify a bit
07-21-2024
- Bottom watered 1 gal per plant, 1.5 ml CALMAG, several drops of minerals. 6.4 pH, 220 PPM
- Wetting the outside of the fabric pots with mister worked much better for priming the wicking effect
- Adjusted tie downs
- Plant 1 still looks a little sickly but IS growing, short internode spacing is getting harder to adjust for though, going hands off for a full week to try and let it recover
- Plant 2 is still growing healthy, but is a bushy variant. Plant 3 is exploding and stretching
- Lights at 580 PPFD center and 450 sides with current growth
07-26-2024
- Only watered plant 3, the others still seem to have weight to them so going to continue to let them dry out a bit in case they are stunted due to overwatering
- Bottom watered 1 gal, 4 ml CALMAG, 6.4 pH
- Gnats seem under control do far, but going to continue bottom watering for a while to try and let them die off
07-27-2024
- Adjusted tie downs
07-28-2024
- Bottom watered plants 1 and 2 0.75 gallon each, 5 ml/g CALMAG at 6.5 pH, 420 PPM, first water since last Sunday trying to dry out the medium a bit as I suspected stunting due to root issues and gnats
- Bottom watered plant 3 with remnants, 0.25 - 0.33 gallon
- Defoliated and tied down a bit on all three
- Cleaned and refilled humidifier
- Freshened diatomaceous earth on all three as I still see one or two gnats on the traps, continue to bottom water through this week, and top dress / heavy water at flip, possibly next week as plant 3 is cooking
- New EVO3 light ordered for flowering, I don't think the S24 is going to handle three plants
08-02-2024
- Plant 3 showing a phosphorus deficiency on two of the lower leaves, and began wilting throughout the day, but perked up immediately on watering, might need to step up the watering schedule
- Top watered compost tea 2/3 gallon per plant, 4 ml/g CALMAG, 2 Tbsp blackstrap molasses, 2 heaping Tbsp of NLS per gallon, stirred over 6 hours. Forgot to pH balance (whoops)
- Considering flipping at the end of the week
08-04-2024
- Top watered 2/3 gallon per plant, 4 ml/g CALMAG, 6.4 pH, 5 ml/g bloom for Potassium
- Plant three is still showing deficiency, adding some liquid nutes to try and provide some quickly, and top watered to help wash the compost tea watering from last time down more
- Heavy trim of all three, lollypopping to prepare for flower flip this week after a day or two to recover
08-08-2024
- Top watered 3/4 gallon per plant, 4 ml/g CALMAG, 6.4 pH, 2 tbsp/g black strap molasses
08-09-2024
- Turned up lights a notch, 700 PPFD center, 450 PPFD on sides
08-11-2024
- Bottom watered 2/3 gallon each, 4 ml/gal CALMAG, 5 ml/gal Bloom, 3 ml/gal grow as plant 3 was showing what looks like the beginning of a potassium deficiency
- Refilled humidifier, washed out bases (molasses apparently feeds gross bacteria, shouldn't let that runoff sit more than a day)
- Defoliated quite a bit as the bushy plants were pretty dense, removed some larf branches
- Plant 3 continues to outperform, though it seems to have eaten up a lot of its nutrients quickly doing it, its now 4-5 inches taller than the others... not sure NLS is going to be a "seed to harvest" for me since I like to veg longer, though it MIGHT make it for AUTOS... Still unsure if the deficiencies are just the shitty Happy Frog soil bag still popping up randomly, or if NLS is not providing the P and K that it promises
08-15-2024
- Top watered 2/3 gallon each, 4 ml/gal CALMAG, 2 Tbsp/gal NLS, 2 Tbsp/gal black strap molasses, non-pHed
- Put plants 1/2 on top of some storage bins to get them the same height as plant 3
08-16-2024
- Pre-flower removal of branches / nodes below the third node or so
- Swapped plant order left to right, 2, 1, 3
08-17-2024
- Turned light up 2 notches to 8, raised to 14" again. 850 PPFD center, 650 PPFD on the sides
08-18-2024
- Top watered 2/3 gal each, 6.3 pH, 400 PPI final, stepped down CALMAG to 2ml/gal, and added a light round of nutrients (1/1/2 ml/gal of GH Micro, Grow, Bloom) as the third plant is still looking hungry, and they could all use it after the defoliation
- All three are stretching into a final stretch now, and all three are confirmed female
08-22-2024
- Top watered 2/3 gal each, 6.1 pH, 550 PPI final, 2ml/gal CALMAG, 2/2/3.5 ml/gal of GH Micro, Grow, Bloom
- Defoliated plant 2 a bit as it was blocking some nodes
- Refilled humidifier
- Overall, plants are progressing ok, with some beginnings of some deficiencies (red stems = phosphorus, yellowing with tip burning looks like potassium, adding back in nutrients at low dose)
08-25-2024
- Top watered 2/3 gal each, 6.4 pH, 850 PPM final, 2 ml/g CALMAG, 4 ml/g GH Grow, 4 ml/g GH Grow, 7 ml/g GH Bloom
- Plants all looking hungry for something. Some leaf tip burn though on plants 2 and 3, but also purple stems. Stepped up to a full feed cycle, and will skip feeding next week to let them adjust and see where I'm at
- Stepped down CALMAG as I am wondering if the dolomite lime I added to fix the soil is finally breaking down and I have a cal/mag abundance
08-29-2024
- Top watered 2/3 gal each, 6.4 pH, 900 PPM final, 1 ml/g CALMAG, 1 Tbsp/gal epsom salt
- Noticed what looks like Calcium deficiency, but given how lime green the tops of these plants are, Im suspecting Sulfur deficiency since I'm not using (much) salt based fertilizers... Lowered the calmag dose and applied 1 Tbsp/gal epsom salts to see if it responds to a mag/sulfur infusion
- Defoliated to get some light to some lower bud sites
- Rotated plants, but left in same placement for now
- Otherwise proceeding nicely
09-01-2024
- Watered 8 cups per, 6.4 pH, 1060 PPM final, with 5/4/4/7 ml/gal CALMAG, Micro, Grow, Bloom
- Plant 1 is showing advanced deficiency of either phosphorus or calcium. I think the nutes are blown from the Natures Living Soil at this point, and am switching back to a full feed schedule. Ordered a soil test to check NPK at least, but might need to flush and re-feed next week.
- A little concerned I've messed up ratios with the epsom salts last time making a calcium deficiency worse... but the spotting really looks more splotchy like phosphorus so I'm torn
- Defoliated a few of the worst leaves
- Overall not sure if the NLS is the way to go... Ill probably try again with a GOOD bag of soil next time too, but I think I'm blowing the nutrients too quickly, and will need to find a way to re-amend at flip or something
- Swapped plant 1 and 2 so order is 1, 2, 3 left to right again, in case the more intense light in the center is contributing
- Bright side, gnats seem gone for several weeks now!
09-04-2024
- Top watered 1 gallon each, 5 ml/g CALMAG, 6.0 pH
- Measured runoff of all plants, all around 6.4 pH and 1300 PPM
- Plant 1 is still showing spotting like calcium, but also potentially potassium across all three plants... Checked pH pen and its calibrated to my fluid... but I'm suspecting the fluid is bad. Separate cheap pH soil tester says 7.0 across all three. Perhaps too much dolamite is buffering it TOO much? Separate soil test says pH is above 7 too...
- Decide Sunday if I need to fully switch back to a nutrient feed cycle... the high PPM on the runoff makes me wonder now if this isn't all just pH issues.
- Ordered new calibration solutions
- Phosphorus test on plant 1, says "adequate"
- Potassium test on plant 1 shows completely empty, but I think I must have messed up the test... repeat test.
09-05-2024
- New calibration fluid. Old ones are verified correct, and pH pen is calibrated correctly. Best guess is I added too much dolomite lime when I mixed the dirt up and its over-buffering closer to 7.0. Continue to adjust water at a lower pH and try and even out
09-08-2024
- Lower pH feed water seems to have slowed signs of deficiency, trimmed some of the worst leaves off
- Top watered 1 gal each, with 1Tbsp molasses and 2 Tbsp Nature's Living Soil per gallon. Mix was at a pH of around 7, and I tried to lower it with pH down, but putting in .5 ml/gal pH barely moved to 6.7 so I didn't add more since I saw people say not to bother with teas anyway... will monitor, and continue back to a low-pH water only feeding next time
09-11-2024
- Top watered 1 gallon each, 1ml/gal CALMAG pH'ed to 6.0
- Plants all are showing DIFFERENT deficiencies, phosphorus, nitrogen, etc., but still suspecting over-buffering of the medium, so watering at a lower pH again to try and balance it out after the NLS tea on Sunday which had a 7.0 pH no matter what I did
09-14-2024
- Defoliated blocking leaves, final defoliation to get some light lower
- Removed a few spent leaves
- Watered 1 gal each, 1 ml/gal CALMAG, 0.33 tsp epsom salt as seeing some lighter green again, 6.13 pH
- Water measured 6.7-6.8 coming out, continue watering lower pH water and watch, going into week 7 so not looking to fertilize much more
09-15-2024
- Just checking, seem to be recovering good
09-17-2024
- Top watered 1 gal each, 6.0 pH, 1 ml/gal CALMAG, runoff coming out at 6.7-6.8
- Switched plant order to 2, 3, 1
- Refilled humidifier
- Defoliation was a good idea, probably should have done it a week or two ago more aggressively though
- Chlorosis isn't great, but it IS week 7 on a 9-11 week flower... keep going and focus on final bud development
09-20-2024 TBD
- Top watered 1 gal each, 6.0 pH, 1 ml/gal CALMAG, runoff coming out at 6.6
- Plant 1/2 at 1100PPM, 3 read at 650PPM but I think some of the water must have seeped out the side or something, I dont think its that low, check again next time
09-22-2024
- Checking
09-23-2024
- Top watered 1 gal each, 6.0 pH going in, 6.5 out, 1 ml/g CALMAG, 1 Tbps/gal black strap molasses for final feeding
- Run off at 1100 on plants 1 and 2, but 3 is sitting at a solid 650... might consider adding some PK to carry into final flower now
09-27-2024
- Bottom watered 1 gal each, 6.3 pH, 1 ml/g CALMAG
- Runoff from plants 1 + 2 top watered into plant 3 to provide any washout nutrients to the hungry plant
- Plant 3 is consuming lower leaves pretty frequently now
09-30-2024
- Top watered 1 gal each, 6.1 pH, 1/3/4/9 CALMAG/Micro/Gro/Bloom feeding as plant 3 really looks malnourished and is dropping leaves. 750 PPM going in
- 6.3-6.4 pH out, 1200 PPM out on plant 3, but 1500 PPM out on 1 and 2
10-03-2024
- Top watered 1 gal each, 6.1 pH, 1/4/4/9 CALMAG/Micro/Gro/Bloom feeding 850 PPM going in
- 6.3-6.4 pH out, 1600 PPM out, probably should leave it there and go water only from here on out for the last two weeks
- Boosted lights to 10, 1050 PPM center, 850 sides
- Learnings: I really think I overdid the dolomitic lime in the base soil mix trying to fix the bad bag of soil. Either that raised the soil pH TOO much, or caused a calcium lockout or something that caused the stunting on all three. Plant 3 seems to have blown through all of its nutrients though, despite top dressing NLP multiple times, and I really think next time Im gonna go to Gaia Green route instead. Im feeding nutes just because I dont have enough time for slower acting NLP stuff and I want to goose all three in these final three weeks or so.
- Next time I'll be going ProMix HP, Gaia Green, Worm Castings, about half the dolomite because I still think the cal/mag it supplies is gonna be a good idea, and Recharge periodlically with no synthetics. I have friends doing the full synthetic route with Coco doing very well, but I'm hunting terps and taste which organics are SUPPOSED to be able to supply better.
10-06-2024
- Top watered 1 gal each, 1 ml/gal CALMAG, 6.4 pH in and 6.5 pH out
- Plant 1 and 2 at 1100 PPM out, plant 3 at 1500 PPM out
- Switching to water only at this point. They should have enough left here to finish out at 11 weeks, and I don't want to juice them any farther, especially since plant 3 seems to be slow on the uptake now
- Turned the light back down to 9... some of the top hairs are still white, and Im worried its light burn, so leaving it there for the duration of the grow
10-09-2024
- Top watered 1.3 gal each, 1 Tbsp/gal molasses just to use up the last of the jar, 1000-1200 PPM out
- Plant 3 showed a little heat stress so I raised the light two inches 850 PPFD center, 600 PPFD sides
10-12-2024
- Top watered 1 gal each, 1 ml/gal CALMAG, 6.4 pH in and 6.5 pH out
- Hints of amber trichomes on mid buds, but not there yet. Think it'll go the full 11 weeks here
10-13-2024
- Trichome check, seeing some amber across most sugar leaves at this point, but still wanna give it another week before I cut. Current planning on cutting at end of this week.
10-15-2024
- Top watered 1 gal each, 1 ml/g calmag, 6.4 pH in
- Trichomes are frosting up a bit more like I want now, continue to watch and prepare for chop
10-18-2024
- Withholding water for final stress response, will harvest Sunday.
