DevilDice Opener:
Fortunately, I was chosen by Dutch Passion to grow their Melonade Runtz for the Growcompetition. The seeds arrived well-packaged with a few nice addons :)
The Method:
I decided to stick with my old tried-and-true method.
So, after a few days of resting in the fridge, I let the seed acclimatize slowly at room temperature.
After 5 hours of getting used to it, it went into a lukewarm (23 degrees) water bath for 24 hours.
Once it mastered that stage, it was time to put it in damp kitchen paper, covered with the glass lid and with 4 holes made in it.
Now it was time to wait... but not for long!
Already the next morning, a small sprout peeked out from the seed. Amazing!
Let the journey begin.
ps The Shaman seed in the pictures germinated just as quickly but will probably be covered in a different diary.

DevilDice We're picking up where we left off last time.
After the excellent germination at lightning speed, the plant was also yearning for the sun, so it poked its head out of the soil the very next day.

In the coming days, unfortunately, it stretched quite a bit towards the light, despite the elevated lamp power and only 20cm distance.

So, here’s my HACK to stimulate stem growth. Always leave space at the top when potting to top it with soil once a week.
Said and done, and 2 days later, the side of the stem split, it thickened, and slowly stability came in.
Other than that, there’s not much to say except let her grow. 😊

DevilDice It was an exciting and motivating week!
The root growth for the little pot came to an end, and it really kicked into gear to produce more leaves and shoots.
The last picture was taken, you can hardly believe it, on the last day of the week.
Its smell when rubbing the leaves is very weak to hardly definable compared to other plants at this stage.
Next week it's time to repot.

DevilDice Weiter geht es.
Da sie schön durchgewurzelt hat kann sie nun umgetopft werden.
Dafür soll es dieses mal ein Gewebetopf sein.
Da nun bereits ein paar tage vergangen sind kan ich berichten, dass sie, nachdem die Wurzelung Fuß gefasst hat, aus allen Nodien treibt. 😍
Wenn man an den Blättern und dem Stamm reibt zeigt sie einen herrlichen frischen kräutrigen Geruch.
Nun da ich ja bekanntermaßen wenig bis keinen Platz in der Box und auch nach oben zur Lampe habe muss wohl etwas Stress-Training her.
Eine Ahle zum Lochen des GeoTex Topfes und der Bonsaidraht liegen schon bereit.
Mal schauen, ob ich sie noch 1-2 Wochen im Wachstum halte oder nächste Woche schon in Blüte geht. 🙌
Ich werde euch auf dem Laufenden halten.

DevilDice Sorry for the little mess, but time didn't allow for anything else, and now I'm uploading everything little by little.
First of all:
At the beginning of the grow, the little one unfortunately stretched for no apparent reason, which made me a bit concerned. 😅
However, she is gaining strength week by week. She's pushing out leaves and shoots as if she has a race to win.
She looks healthy and lively. The LST has been well tolerated. The first sun leaves have been removed to give the shoots more light.
The smell when touched is intense and very pleasant.
I'm giving her a bit more time to grow.
In the coming weeks, I'll continue to tie her down and maybe even start to prune, so in the end, we get a few but beautiful buds. 😉

DevilDice That was it, the last week of growth. The plant is now being sent into flowering. Already, it's drinking like a hole.
I guess I'll be lollipopping and gliding soon so I can get a fatter bud with less effort.
Already, the plant feels spicy and deep to the touch. I can hardly wait to see its full profile.
Unfortunately, the German summer with its +30 degrees Celsius is causing a few problems, but it'll be fine!

DevilDice And she's growing like no other.
The stem is thickening enormously, so the bonsai wire is at its limit. The shoots are also getting thicker.
Unfortunately, we have a heatwave and the little one is really feeling it.
She's holding up bravely and drinking a lot.
Let's see how much more she stretches.
When you lightly rub the stem, it releases a rich, deep fruity aroma. Otherwise, she doesn't smell at all.
This can keep going! ☺️

The plant is giving it all, it's insane.
The smell (when rubbing the stem) is fantastic, similar to a zesty fruit cocktail.
Now comes the problem. She's too greedy. Unfortunately, she's getting too close to the light and is competing with Icarus. 😂
LST was no longer sufficient, so I set up a small ScrOG net. Then it continued to grow upwards.
A new box is already on the way. To keep everything small, it's being upgraded to 40x40x120 cm.
I've rarely experienced such a powerful plant. I'm excited for the coming weeks, especially after the move. Hopefully, the post hurries up. 🙈

After the emergency, the new grow box fortunately arrived in time.
After the move and setting up the box, the plant could be secured with the SCROG net.
Before that, however, the removal of the light-distant shoots was on the agenda (even though it's always a bit hard to do🙈).
Also, the bottom was trimmed a bit.
Now it doesn't smell anymore, but it's pushing out a ton of trichomes.😍 I'm curious to see what the coming weeks will bring.
My goal is to break 50. 50g dry with 50 watts and one plant. We'll see. 😊

sorry for the delay! Unfortunately, I was tied up with appointments, but the plant didn’t feel it since I made the adjustments elsewhere.
Now, onto the important things. 😊
Another week has passed, and the plant is picking up speed.
It's slowly becoming a real diva and is showing signs of water deficiency through a strong smell. However, when everything is fine, it sits relaxed in its refuge and looks towards the sun.
One single shoot is a bit over the top and doesn’t know its limits, but that's okay. I’ll let it grow now since the other heads are handling the distance to the light well.
It’s a true powerhouse. What genetics (at least in terms of growth)!
If you look at the spots where the shoots are coming from, it’s crazy how thick they are.
An assessment of the genetics regarding growth is not possible yet. That will happen after the finish.
In conclusion, and looking ahead to the coming weeks, I’m considering reducing the leaf mass a bit.
Also, I hope it will soon add some flower mass. I’m quite optimistic about that right now. 😎😎😎
The terpenes are intense. It currently smells earthy, fruity (partly tropical), slightly spicy, and has a fantastic depth.

DevilDice Another week goes by and the excitement is getting bigger and bigger. The plant is growing and thriving. It looks healthy and is pushing out trichomes (resin) like there's no tomorrow. Just incredible! 😂
What stands out is that the smell has slightly changed. It still smells earthy but with a strong hint of forest floor or a walk in the woods. I'm curious how this will affect the entourage effect.
Now it just needs to gain some weight and the calyxes need to swell.
I'll share some macro shots soon.. so please bear with me 😆

Great plant, but everything is currently moving a bit slower. The buds are getting bigger but not really fat yet. However, the smell is increasing when something doesn't please them.
Watering has been slightly reduced. And it was the last search for nutrient addition. Starting next week, only clear water will be given. The plan is to flush afterwards to head towards harvest. 😍😍😍
The resin production is unique. Attached are a few macros, I hope you like them. 😂

DevilDice Sorry for the late update on last week.
There aren't many big changes with the plant, but something has changed in the environment. There's only clear water now 😉
And I can tell you one thing, the buds are swelling more and more and producing trichomes upon trichomes! 🙈
Another little sneak peek, yesterday (start of flowering week 9) I did a flush 😊
The plant looks super vibrant, but unfortunately, I got a bag of Biobizz light mix with a lot of fungus gnats 😭
As for the terpenes, it's tropical 🍍 and lemony 🍋 fresh as the heart note.
The fulminant base is like a walk through a freshly rain-soaked coniferous forest 🌲🌲🌲 in autumn. Simply amazing.
Finally, the top note brings sharp, pointed pleasant notes that herald the scent experience.
Together, it's almost like a perfume.
With such a composition, I'm excited about the effect 😍😍😍

Friends, the time has come.
Not much to report, just a bit about the process.
At the beginning of the week, I did a proper flush. After that, there were a few days of light and some clear water.
3 days before the harvest, it was complete darkness to make sure she shoots out nice terpenes. Little spoiler, today is harvest day 😌
She could probably have gone longer, but I didn't want to take too much of a mold risk.
And even while removing the big leaves, she was oozing resin like there’s no tomorrow 😂
The work is done! Now she’s hanging there, and we'll see how much is left after the snap and subsequent trim.
Next time, I'll report back after the trim and weighing! I'll submit a smoke report afterwards. I'm already excited 🤩

Nun das Ende von einem weiteren äußerst lehrreichen grow.
Zu aller erst muss ich sagen, dass vieles nicht optimal lief und die Pflanze einiges zu ertragen hatte. Seien es Platzprobleme gefolgt von mehreren Umzügen oder extreme Hitze über einen längeren Zeitraum. Das alles sind Gründe die der Qualität der Pflanze abträglich seien könnten.
Nun zum Test:
Was auffällt, dass die starken waldigen Noten beim curing zurück getreten sind. Beim Aufbrechen eines Buds schlägt einem eine wilde Komposition entgegen die man gar nicht richtig beschreiben kann. Einfach lecker, leicht fruchtig in Richtung Candy mit leichten Spitzen und einer komplexen tiefen Basis mit einem Herz aus Eiscreme/Creme. Geschmacklich kommt das Ganze aber unerwartet zurückhaltend.
Die Wirkung ist enorm.
Gevaped merkt man die ersten Minuten nichts bis einen plötzlich zwei Hände am Nacken packen und unentwegt in die waagerechte ziehen, einfach krass. Jedoch wird man nach dem ersten Schuss ins All ziemlich schnell klarer aber auch entspannt. Dann kann man alles um sich herum vergessen und einfach sein Sein genießen. Im Anschluss kommt eine angenehme aber nicht allzu kräftige Müdigkeit. Die Wirkung ist stark und langanhaltend.

Resin, resin, resin wherever you look. And very soft trichomes that release the scent of a forest walk after a rain shower in early autumn upon touch. Including a nice moss smell and that of freshly growing mushrooms.

Hello some advice if you want to know, if not, just ignore it, everyone can grow how he likes!
Please bend the branches next time and never ever cut off a main branch in flower as you could see, the other branches catched up anyway.
There is no need to flush if you go for organic fertilizer. Even with synthetic fertilizer you personally won't see any difference if you flush or not. You wrote "the smell gets more intense, if there is something she doesn't like" even i misunderstanding but that's not how that works.
You probably lost 10-15g cutting off that main branch
Otherwise solid grow, good job looks like a nice harvest (:

Removing the shoot during the flowering phase was actually my biggest learning in this grow. Even though I just topped it, the next biggest one shot up immediately. Next time I'll be smarter and hope to break the magical 1g/W barrier. 👊
Regarding flushing, I have a slightly different opinion. I like it when the plant really depletes itself after the flush and goes all the way to the end. It feels like the harvest is less green and smoother. But I don't want to commit to that. It could also be bro science. 😅 It's just my personal feeling.
On the topic of stress, it was clearly noticeable that the plant smelled incredibly strong when it was facing water shortage. After watering, everything calmed down again within a few hours. 😁
