Purchased 10 seeds from Crop King Seeds. These are feminized Blue Cookies seeds. They sent 4 bonus seeds, which was nice! From their website, a little info on the strain:
"Blue cookies got its name from its parent strains – Girl Scout Cookies and Blueberry. Cookies, in general, are popular because they simply taste good, and they appeal to the desire of the palate. In the cannabis world, however, strains become even tastier as they are combined with other varieties. When Girl Scout Cookies are added with Blueberry, flavors change.
While the flavor of the Blue Cookies seem innocent, it would be wrong to take it lightly. In fact, this strain is jam packed with THC, with a content level reaching as high as 28%. What does this mean? You can be guaranteed of a high that you may have never even experienced before. Since this is a mostly Indica strain that offers a high THC content, you have a potent cannabis strain in your hand. No doubt that this strain can be considered as one of the strongest currently available on the market."
I germinated according to the instructions on the Crop King website. I put 3 seeds into filtered water at 4pm one day and then at 6am the next they had all sunk. I then placed all 3 seeds in a wet paper towel and put into the dark. Meanwhile I prepared the tent.
I am running a Viparspectra 1200W full spectrum LED in a 4'X4' tent. The unit pulls 524 actual watts from the wall. This should mean that I am getting 32.75W/square foot. This might be on the low end but it will have to work for first grow.
I have a small humidifier running in the tent as it is winter and the tent is in a basement and the humidity in the house is very low naturally. I am also running a small heater in the tent because I keep my house at 62. If you want it warmer, build a fire. After some testing, the tent with the light on is between 75 and 81 degrees F. At night it dips down to 64 degrees, but it will have to do for now.
For soil I am running Fox Farms Ocean Forest. I am using 3 gallon smart pots. I am watering right now with ph 6.5 RO water. No nutrients or cal/mag to start.
By day 5 after dunking the seeds in water, 2 of the seeds had 1.5cm roots and were planted. I then started another seed which germinated and was planted in the ground when the others were on Day 3. This can be confusing.
Day 1 for this journal starts when the seed goes into the ground. After planting the seeds I moistened the soil around the seeds with a spray bottle. Due to high evaporative losses, I gently placed a little plastic wrap over each pot.
Because I have 3 pots in the tent, there are 2 front pots and 2 back pots.
Day 3 - right front plant breaks ground. Left front seed was placed into ground. No activity from back seed yet.
Day 4 - Back plant popped. No activity from front left, but both front right and back plant had a seed membrane stuck, which I carefully removed and then the cotyledons popped right out.
Day 5 - Front right and back plants both standing 1" tall and have their first set of true leaves. No activity from front left yet.
Day 6 - Front left plant popped. All 3 plants look very happy.
Day 7 - Back plant ~ 1.5" tall. Front right is ~1.25" tall. Left front is 1" tall. All look really good.
Please see the photos week 19. This is week 5 of flowering and F31. Today I saw some things that looked like calyxes. They have hairs sticking out from them, but I just wanted an opinion as to whether these are female calyxes or whether all 3 of my plants just hermied.
Hey Jondalar!! You got nothing to worry about those are Calyxes that's what you want to see👍 If they were to Hermie you would know because you would see little "Nanners" Stamen coming out of either some calyxes or you will see an actual pollen sac. They look very different, the calyxes have hairs most of the time yes the hairs can fall off but the calyxes almost stand up where a pollen sac will kinda start standing up but then they start to face downward as they get ready to open and release pollen. Happy Growing!!
I agree with Nerrd, you might want to consider potting up. They look real healthy 👍👊.
I just posted week 1 of Blue Cookies, and will continue to follow. 11 weeks of veg seems long after growing autos.
@@Jondalar, Very good, with a healthy rootball like that, they will take off in that 7 gallon ! Its amazing how much water a healthy plant can transpire.
It's pretty hard to tell about the hermies... My GSC hermed and I actually ended up with a LOT of seeds in my buds. It was actually pretty excited because the seeds actually germinated! I'm growing one now, but I have no idea how it will turn out LOL.
@@Jondalar, it's harder than you think to tell the difference. LOL... I would suggest you check your buds after it's all dried out. The seeds are also tricky to find if you don't know what you are looking for! I found mine by accident in my grinder well after the fact :) I'm really new to growing, so I was really mystified! LOL
Starting to look stellar my friend ! I would consider lowering your lamp a little closer or raising you're plants up just a little bit tho :) This will help you're plants gather more photons to concentrate twoards growth cause to be honest I find you're light to be a little high . But over all it looks stellar my friend you're well on you're way !!! Keep up the great work and Ill be back next week to look again :D :D
-Happy Growing!
@@Nerrd, I'll try to up the phosphorus pretty quickly then. I'm still at 1/2 strength nutes in the veg phase. I suppose I could add more but I am not seeing any problems so I haven't done it yet. After transplant I will veg for a bit to see what happens. I kinda want my trellis net 70% full, even if it takes longer. I don't care how long it takes I just want a quality crop.
Do you have bigger pots Jondalar? If the roots are being told to stop growing for lack of room, it will send that signal to the upper growth as well. I love how many tops you have and they are neither under nor over- fed. So healthy and green. I apologise if is seem despotic, I just want you to have as much success as possible.
@@Nerrd, I put into 7 gallon pots just now. They needed it. Every cubic inch of that 3 gallon pot was filled with roots. Also I found out something weird - even though I watered yesterday morning and the top of the soil was still wet, the bottom 4/5 of the pot was completely dry. They must be drinking a ton of water or I'm underwatering.
Looking happy and healthy man , nice even green everywhere no signs of stress , keep up the great work ! Sending them lots of positive vibes so they grow big and robust !
-Happy Growing!
@The_Projexx, Thanks! Front left had a little overwatering on day 26 but it completely recovered by day 27. Front left and front right seemed to sail through the topping. Back plant is a freak. It topped itself and is now moving the main stem out of the way for the other growth on its own! Thanks for the good vibes!
@@Jondalar, free seeds....nice! I ordered a bunch but no freebies😟. I had 100% germ. rate, 5/5, but two were runts, and I culled the worst one. Growing outdoors is not an option.... 4 teenage boys nextdoor 😃.
@DeaneR, Thanks a bunch! I started 3 seeds initially. 2 germinated and one didn't. Started another one and it sprouted. So far I'm at 75% germination rate which I think is fair. Crop King gave me 4 extra seeds with my order and I thought that was pretty nice of them. Your plants look awesome. They're growing like crazy!
Where I live I'm allowed to grow 12 plants but I don't have the space. I could grow outside but I'd be worried about getting pollinated. We have a metric ass-ton of bees here in the spring. They truck bees in because of orchards. I'd be willing to bet that there is either some ditch weed somewhere or someone else might be growing outdoors. Good luck on your grow!
@DeaneR, I chopped tonight. After trimming all the fan leaves I ended up with 4 pounds wet, but that includes stems, sugar leaves and popcorn buds. I’m hoping I get a half pound of cured bud. There will be a metric ass ton of sugar leaves and popcorn buds to make something else. I’m gonna dry trim over a trim tray so there will be plenty of pure trichomes as well.
@DeaneR, yeah the switch from 3 gallon pot to 7 gallon pot made a big difference. I am planning on filling the net a little more and then switching to flower. The classic - 2 more weeks.
@@Nerrd, I want the plants to be about 12" tall. I'm planning on doing scrog at that height. When the net is about 70% full I will flip to flower. I'm not really in a rush on this. My guess is 2-3 more weeks until they are at 12" and who knows how long to fill the scrog net.
Hey, Happy New Year!! I know I'm new at this grow thing...however, I advise you to take it easy on the cal/mag. I over did it 😟, and my girls suffered tip burn a day or two after. Use the old saying...weakly...weekly!
Your grow is progressing nicely. Keep up the great work!!!👍
Happy new year my friend! Your grow is looking fantastic and healthy and I wish you best in this next year growing some amazing plants and yielding yourself large amounts of bud. Cheers!
