hey madsci , great diary so far ๐ are you using biotabs or only mr. b ? i've got some of mr. b's too, gonna watch how the pro does it, i was confused about how to use the veg nutes / flower nutes , so i'm taking notes ! ๐
@mad_scientist, ok, so i have actually modified my plan to use more soil now, actually the one from cellmax which is a rich soil already, should be okay you think to add even more dry nutrients in it?
@CRiSPrGrow, Hello ! I used the all mix from bio bizz which is a rich soil and perlite. Because i used the auto pot i made a more airy mixture. If you are not going to use a bottom wicking system you can make it a little heavier. My ratio is around 2.5 soil 1 perlite. For example i mix 50 liters of bio bizz all mix soil with around 20 liters of perlite. Its not something that i do it precisely. I pretty much eyeball it. Your goal is to make an airy mix. If you want it to be a little heavier use around 10 liters of perlite. Ideally you want the perlite with 3-5 mm particles. In general you want an organic rich soil.
@CRiSPrGrow,
No coco ?
Two of those have nutes in mate ,
Most don't add any nutrients for the first 1 too 2 weeks anyways so should be fine , all I do is add them slowly and keep checking the tips at next feed , if I see any sign of over nutes I go back too the feed the week before after just water that feed
@CRiSPrGrow, No it doesn't worth. That's an old school way to give some extra co2 but it doesn't worth. When these methods developed the knowledge about growing was not that much and people were doing a lot of weird things. They still do......๐. Anyway the co2 that a spray like this can give is literally nothing and it creates moisture which raises significant the chances of having mold to your buds..
@CRiSPrGrow, The reason we make the substrate airy is because you need the oxygen, not the carbon dioxide. While studies have shown that roots can absorb co2 through their roots the same steadies have shown also that the amount they absorb is so small that its not worthy of mention. Also the steadies have failed to show if the plant uses the co2 that is absorbed from roots, how and what for. The amount of carbonates that are presented naturally in the water are way more than what a plant could ever absorb through its roots. Do not use ( co2 enriched ) carbonated water, because beside the fact that your plant doesn't need it those carbonates react with hydronium in water and make carbonic acid. The carbonic acid lowers the PH and as you can imagine this will give you a lot of problems....
