Clones are started! All my clones that I took from the donor ladies were around 7-8 inches. I took 4 of each strain and will only pick 2 of each for the grow. The others will be thrown away when we move from solo cups to 7 gal containers. I used Rapid rooter cubes soaked in Recharge to start from. The clones were defoliated, cut and dipped in Clone x before being placed into the cubes and place into the box. LED lights are on 24 hrs for now and will be switched to 18-6 in about a week or so. I'll avoid feeding the clones until I begin seeing roots which I will go with 25% strength when that happens. Humidity in the box is 80% or higher and temps are at 78 F with the lights PPFD around 75-100.
We Start off week one with out first transplant into Solo cups. I'm only using happy frog in the cups to start off the clones and will be making my soil mixture in the next few days to inoculate the soil before the clones are ready to me moved into the 7 gal containers. Soil will be pre inoculated with recharge at least 2 weeks before the clones move into them giving the bio-char time to work.
Soil mix is Bliss Bio-char, Happy frog and Bliss perlite.
Before I transplanted the clones cups were filled with soil and I sprinkled a small amount of recharge into the hole where the clone plugs will sit. clones were then watered in till slight run off.
First watering will be just RO PH'd to 6.1, then after they dry back a bit they will get modified week one nutrients from TPS. I will mostly be using a modified version of the extended feed chart to meet my needs and prevent burn.
Fans will be running 24-7 to circulate air and ventilation will be on a 50 off, 10 on schedule until week 4 veg. The VS 2000 is running at 25% with a PPFD at or around 200.
Basically waiting and will be on cruze control until week 3 veg when we will be topping and main-lining.
Week 2, not a massive update but the ladies have made some minor progress in rebounding from being stuck in a small clone box. Roots are growing perfectly with little to no sign of transplant stress.
Plants were fed about 2oz of feed water each and will be watered about every 3-4 days sticking to a "feed-water-feed" schedule. Water will be Ph'd between 6.0 - 6.3 and I will be using RO.
Environment has been almost perfect with temps being only slightly low.
I will be removing sickly looking leaves damaged by the clone process just to speed up growth and to not waste time on trying to fix old leaves.
I also plan on transplanting to the 7 gal pots when I have roots at the bottom of the cups, I'll pick my favorite phenos and toss the other ones.
Week 3: OH BOY, just look at the ladies reach for the sky!
Just been alternating feeding and watering at 2 Oz of water per plant every 3 days. I also upped the cal-mag and will be switching out to week 3 nutrients after they go into 7 gallon containers.
Probably gonna transplant in the next day or so and I'll be keeping one Oeroz for a mother to pull clones from in the future.
Otherwise everything seems to be going well, stay tuned because we will be training after a few days once the transplant shock wears off.
Gonna run 4 mains on each plant, seemed to work well for the last set of ladies, Ill just try to be more consistent with spacing and training low and flat.
EDIT: Forgot to add that I sprayed down all the ladies with Crop Defender 3, if you have not heard of it, it is an OMRI certified Pesticide and fungicide.
Figured that I would hose them down now so I can get full coverage.
Week 4, I topped the plants and chose 4 mains per plant. I will make sure that topping will be every 3rd or 4th growth terminal moving forward, I will be topping each plant, and will be shooting for 16 tops or so. from there we will grow out and flip.
Still doing feed water feed, I also watered in the plants with recharge mixed at 1/4 tsp per gallon of RO, ph was at 6.2 and they took well to the transplant. From now on i will be gradually boosting nutrients every other week up until early flower.
Lights are up to around 300 ppfd just to note the bump up.
For the main lining I'm going to be using a combination of stakes, Brach trainers and garden wire. The goal this run is to get more efficient at the training to mitigate downtime. I have a bit more confidence with my LST work so I feel like I can get better results. That and having the branch trainers holding the branches down so they don't pull the steaks out of the dirt before they tops reach the edge of the containers.
So for now i will let them chill for a day or two and then start training.
So it begins!
Week 5 is here and we are topped a second time. So far we have 8 mains to work with but I'm just waiting till they grow out 3 nodes before we top again to 16.
Nothing new to report other than training is going well.
Not optimal but doing just fine.
I will also stay the course on the nutrients for now b4 I up the dose in a week or 2.
Skipped the update for week 6, nothing special was going on other than the top between the two strains.
Now we are getting to running 16 mains for each plant. By the end of this week all 4 should be topped to 16 and we can get to letting them grow out a bit.
One thing I will add is that I will be treating the plant with Mosquito bits this week as well. I noticed that fungus gnats are starting to pop up so I want to get ahead of the issue.
Ill be making a Tea with the BTI treatment, 3 tablespoons of Bits per gallon of water. the tea will be soaked for 20-40 min before I apply it to the plants.
If the gnats don't slow down ill try to use Nematodes.
Week 8 of Veg and now its just a matter of maintaining training for the next 3 weeks or so.
Perfect time for taking care of any issues that arise before we move into flower.
The BTI treatment seems to be working well so far, I did notice some damage that I took a picture of, nothing too serious but I was expecting some stress or damage from the BTI.
as long as the fungus gnat situation is under control ill be happy.
I did up the plants Nitrogen and silica intake I'll be keeping an eye out for burn outside of the BT treatment. 1/4 gallon per plant ever 5 days or so seems to be good for these ladies, but if they don't look thirsty ill give them an extra day.
So far we are doing well, i cant wait for these to grow out.
Well, i have an update for you all.
Around week 9 I saw a major nitrogen and magnesium deficiency.
I added some N-primer and cal-mag to feed water in addition to a flush.
I noticed that the correction was not taking so i preformed a heavy flush with tap water cal-mag and recharge. Within 3 days the plants began to take again and growth began to resume.
Now im just staying on top of correcting deficiencies and avoiding burn on the plants.
I should be sending these guys into flower in about 2 weeks.
I do have a feeling that the BTI sent my PH level out of wack in the dirt and prevented uptake.
TPS being chelated should allow for instant uptake, so a PH issue seemed likely.
So this is essentially the last week of veg, All the plants have been moved over to the flower tent and are now on a 12/12 schedule.
Seems the PH issues are no longer effecting the plants and deficiencies are slowly working them self's out.
I started the flower regiment of nutrients and we will be adding signal when I see pistils, along with Co2 generators.
So now im just on auto pilot, basically doing a bit of light defoliation before we fully flip and making sure the ladies are tied down and ready for 9+ weeks of flower. (New years weed! 😸)
Half way done!
Nothing really to say here, its the first week of flower and we start pushing more nutrients and light in the coming weeks.
Minimal defoliation will happen from day to day to minimize stress and to keep them happy.
Week 2 of flower.
The ladies seem to have began to stretch quite a bit, so I'm glad I set up the new side lighting to take advantage of the larger flower I have going this time around.
I do plan on pushing more Bloom and signal in the coming weeks seeming as the plants have been taking well to the stronger dose.
I do plan on doing light defoliation every 2-3 days to slowly allow for more light to enter the canopy on the sides.
So for now we just chill and feed every 3 days.
Week 3 of flower is going well, bud sites are glowing quickly and beginning to fill out.
Also trichomes are starting to grow in as well so that's great. soon i will be able to turn up the lights a bit more, right now we are getting about 750ish ppfd and about 625 on the one in the back.
Also just thinning out the plants as they grow is going well, removing about 4 leaves per plant every time i water. dead or dried up leaves just get yanked regardless, but most of those are form the PH issue i had in veg so no biggie. Also that is why you can see curled tips on old growth especially with the sativa considering that it took the largest hit.
But i have a feeling that the issues are only going to affect my yield minimally something like 15%, but ill know more when I harvest and get my first dry weight on the scale.
Week 4 of flower and we are looking great.
I began to cut back nutrients a bit and i will maintain this ratio for the next 2 weeks, and repeat week 7 2 times before i flush and trail off before harvest.
The height offset sucks but the indica seems to not care too much i do want to raise them up 4 inches each so they get more light.
But this will be the last time i do sativa and indica in the same tent for a bit. Not exactly a great thing for a newbie to try but hey, we make it work 😜
this run looks great so far so i hope our yeild is good!
Week 5 of flower
Nothing special to report, the ladies seem to be doing just fine and growing well.
This week is the last of these type of nutrients, ill begin to taper off of Base A and B for 2 weeks and repeat 7 2 times. after that we do a flush and let the ladies finish off.
I assume that flower will be 10-14 weeks so we are about half way through.
Week 7 flower
Sadly i have to report that i lost 1 plant to powdery mildew. I do blame my self for not watching the plants more closely and making sure their were looking ok on all sides.
I have removed and destroyed any effected plant martial and remain diligent on removing any latent leaves that have been effected.
Oddly enough the oreoz seem to have zero signs of being effected by the issues. I assume with the late flower spikes in humidity and the damage the triple cheese plants suffered in early veg contributed to it getting PM.
Outside of that, Trichomes are starting to turn milky and 1% amber on leaves. I'm aiming for 5-10% amber before i chop.
I will preform a flush week 8 and after that use minimal nutrients.
Now we pray that i make it to the chop with no more contamination.
Week 8 of flower, we are in the final stretch.
So far it looks like 1-5% amber on the trichomes on the top 1/4 of the plants, so id say another week for now.
I am still removing any leaves that seem to be an issue but things have slowed down.
Im sure ill be able to get through dry without the Powdery mildew being an issue. Ill do a full scale defoliation before they go in.
We flushed today as well, just tap water that's dechlorinated. I will give it 1 last shot of nutrients in 3 days and that's going to be about it. they will get water the rest of the way out.
So far so good.
Final week of flower.
Thats it kids shows over, we chop in 2-3 days.
Nothing more to report other than just giving them Signal with water.
Trichomes look great across the top 20% of all 3 plants, so im calling it.
Last harvest with 4 plants was just over a half pound like 10.5 oz total so if we beat that ill be happy.
Welp, other than the PM issue I think I'm making headway as far as increasing my yield.
Total yield on the grow was 10.8 for 3 plants.
Last grow was just over 10 oz for 4 plants.
Powdery mildew always shitting on peoples waffles. oh well, we do better next time!
Thanks for following the grow guys and gals, check out my other grows that i have running.
