Week 1. Noticed a minor issue with Calcium around ~Day 6. Increased Calcium from 0.5 tsp/gal to 1.0 tsp/gal. Seems to have worked nicely. Coco/Perlite 70/30.

Bumped up Grow and Micro. Basically watering to saturation and runoff at this point which is definitely a waste of water and nutes, but the plant seemed no worse for the wear. Loving how you seemingly can't overwater in this medium.

Dropped Grow to 0.25. Seems like some minor N toxicity going on. I'm wondering if there's too much N in the Cal/Mag? I will probably try dropping the Cal/Mag a bit next week and bumping the Grow back up. Comments welcome. Topped at the end of Week 3 with 4 nodes showing. Topped down to the 3rd node. Removed all growth sites below the 3rd node, but preserved large fan leaves for fast recovery. Comments welcome. NOTE: Plant to the right is a late flowering White Widow auto.

Do you think I'm showing signs of N toxicity towards the end of week 3? Input welcome!

Hey there @NewbGrower87 I Do not see any signs of Nitrogen Toxicity. Generally N tox shows itself in 3 main ways. The most obvious is whats called the 'claw' where the leaf tips bend down aggressively. The second thing to look for is a Dark Dark green color and while your plant does look a healthy green from the pictures I wouldn't say they are dark enough for a N toxicity. The last thing to look for is one of the more obvious signs and that is shiny fan leafs. N Toxicity causes the Fan leaves to get really dark and shiny looking before causing the 'claw'. So because of these reasoning I do not think you have an N toxicity at all. (If you start to see signs of N tox DO NOT drop Cal-Mag like you hinted at and instead lower the Micro a little.) 😎

Put a small spaceheater on a relatively low setting to keep the tent ~72-75 instead of 64-68. Hopefully that helps the plant wake up a bit sooner in the day. Seems to wait until ~7 PM to perk up fully. Cycle is 18/6 (6 AM on, 12 AM off). Lowered micro from 1/2 tsp to 1/4 tsp per gallon. Easiest way to back off possible N toxicity without dropping Cal/Mag. Raised HLG 100 from ~15 inches to 18 inches in case it was too close. 12/28 - Well hilariously enough, it looks like I'm overwatering coco/perlite while trying to fix this N issue! Backing off watering for 2-3 days. 1/1 - Dropped CalMag to 3/4 Tsp, Grow to 1/4 Tsp. Total PPM ~450. Watered to runoff 4 days after watering to help correct overwatering. N tox seems to still be progressing. Hopefully lower N levels from this feeding will help.

N tox in full swing. Lowered feeding from 1 Tsp to 3/4 Tsp Cal/Mag, and Grow/Micro from 1/2 Tsp each to 1/4 Tsp each. Hoping this helps correct. Is it possible that overwatering also contributed to excessive N uptake? I let the coco dry out a lot more (~4 days) this time.

Your feeding strength is too much. At this point you want 300 to 400 PPM. Base water plus cal mag should be around 250 PPM and the rest your nutes.

Looking much better so far today at beginning of week 5. Unsure of how I want to approach the LST and I am too nervous to supercrop. I will probably bend each new main in opposite directions to make a flat canopy. 1/3 - Topped 2nd time and supercropped / LST'd both mains in opposite directions. 1/4 - Plant recovered beautifully from the supercropping. Can't even tell it's the same plant! Some of those leaves were VERTICAL last night. 1/6 - Still showing overwatering and N tox. That's what I get for not popping up properly over time and going into the final medium. You CAN overwater coco, it seems. Dropped CalMag to 0.5 Tsp/gal. to help lower N even further. Tap water is ~200 ppm with Ca/Mg as well. 1/7 - Watered today after 3 1/2 days of no watering. Surface was bone dry and pot felt considerably lighter. Not sure why it still looks overwatered. Hopefully fixing N tox (slowly it seems) will help? New growth seems better, but the leaves are still so damn wrinkled.

Cut out Grow completely for now. Seems to be getting more than enough N from Cal/Mag and Micro. Planning to flip soon (V45). We'll see how it goes. 1/20 - Minor defoliation to remove large (mostly burnt by N tox) fan leaves below.

2/6 - F16 - minor defoliating all over the plant. Removing small, light-deprived nodes lower on the plant. A lot of stretch going on. Hopefully it will be slowing. Light is at the max height for my tent. I will supercrop a few of the mains if I need to, but hoping it stops growing upward. Looks like the pistols are starting to pop out and the buds are slowly forming.

What do you guys think about the praying leaves? The internet seems to disagree. Most people seem to think it's a good thing. Everything is in high gear and the leaves are using all of the energy to absorb light. Some camps say it's too much light and it's stressing out.

There are different opinion about the subject. Some says that the leaves are praying when there is to much light , some says that it is because the plants are healthy and happy but I remember that a long time ago I have read an article about it and it was linked to the plant sweating : to keep more water and avoid sweating they are doing that and the opposite when they want to sweat but I am not 100% sure about it as it was a long time ago. And last thing it could also be because of a light too high so the plant is trying to reach it , you will have a different answer from each growers 😊👍

2/15 - F25 - buds starting to swell a little bit at the bud sites, but concerned that they aren't fast enough. This is F25 from flip (NOT first sight of flowers), so just wondering if I'm on the right track. Minor nute burn seems to be resolving (dropped Bloom to 1/2 Tsp, Micro still 1/2 Tsp).

2/23 - F33 - a little frustrated that the tips are burnt at only 400 PPM (200 PPM tap, ~200 nutes). I'm guessing the light is too close, but I am out of room in the tent. Just going to ride it out and accept that I'm probably going to get less yield because my lack of Bloom nutes. Maybe the strain is sensitive. We'll see.

Overall a decent experience. Seemed to really take too much N no matter what I did to lower it, but oh well. Buds seem okay with density. Only an HLG 100 QB light. I probably should have vegged for a bit longer. Next time I will 100% be doing scrog with a trellis. I should have had a more even canopy. Nodes seem pretty spaced out. ~4 oz. dried.

@NewbGrower87, yeah its hard to do it like that when you dont have multiple rooms :) growing is a learning expirience for us all man ! Thanks for taking the time to respond man :) Always a pleasure to chat with other growers -Happy Growing!

@The_Projexx, Hey man, thanks! The other plant is an auto that's just finishing up. I got impatient and popped this VK seed a bit too early. I thought the auto would finish sooner (first grow on the right there, misjudged the time, lol). I've been playing fun little games with the light height trying to maximize the exposure for the flowering plant and keep it reasonable on the vegging one. Lesson learned for next time.

Thanks guys! I did notice the very slight cupping, and it's definitely more pronounced on one of the first fan leaves (bottom of the plant) and the curling is slightly more aggressive. I think I might drop the Micro to half the current strength for next feeding and see if that improves it. I might be "riding the line" between healthy and toxicity, but hopefully at this rate it will just end up growing into the nitrogen amount. Do you think it's overwatered? I will probably transplant next grow instead of being in the final pot, but I figured the creasing in the leaves is because they are still growing? I know the 3-set fan leaves straightened out quite a bit after they stopped growing outward.
the end.
