Celebrating the legalization of cannabis in Canada I decided to get a new set up. 600w HID, Digital/dimmable, full room control and amazing ventilation. He we grow!
Trying out Medi1. One part organic nutes, supposed to be good from seed to flower. My local shop really recommended this product. Starting to see great results day after feed. Topping each plant three times I'm going to try to make these beauties bush out.
For the first time ever, using feminized seeds I have found a male. I was topping the girls when I noticed the formation of a pollen sack. Quick to act, I gave it the axe. Then there were 2. I'm ok with just have two given the 4x4 space. I'll make it work. I noticed the girls asking for a bit more so I supplemented with Sensi Grow A+B.
Continuing to top my remaining two plants to take advantage of the space I have to work with. This will lead to an additional week of Veg. Good things come to those who wait. I took clones this week to prepare for my next round.
Last week of Veg. I installed my first screening to hold tops in place and have been very pleased with results. Have used all of my space and estimate now being the time to induce bloom. Preflowers are everywhere and starting to get pungent aromas when opening the tent. The shape and texture of my leaves are telling me typical indica dominant phenos.
Switching to bloom with an idea that this strain has neraly stretched 2.5x during the initial weeks of flowering. New lamp and new seals around all my ventilation. Things are going well. Lots of pruning under the canopy. I've trimmed and I've not trimmed in the past. I do find it best to take out the stuff underneath that would be draining nutrients and not completely contributing to the actual photosynthesis. Smell is continuing to become stronger.
Full on flowering has begun. I love to see a healthy plants reaction to induce flowering. The day to day changes that take place are mind blowing. Stretch has come into full effect. An additional mesh trellis will be necessary. Pungent aromas of kush woft about whenever opening the tent for maintenance. Using such big totes I'm going through a lot of H2O. Using RO I have to bring it in and watering at 20% @ 68L every three days is A LOT! I will be considering buying a filteration system for at home.
Having a Mg deficiency. Gonna say it's because of the RO water. Started to feed a little bit of Cal mag every water just to get some of those micro nutrients back in. Hairs are starting to pop up everywhere and that familiar kush aroma is beginning to arrive.
Mg deficiency got out of control a little bit. Flushed and trying to get things back on track. It's not hurting to much just really ugly. Feeding every water but at 1/4 volume every other watering seems to be helping. That being said I would say the stretch is over and she smells sooooo good. Hopefully she starts fattening up nice now.
Still working away to fix the nute deficiency I came into just after new years. Dense buds are still forming and calyx swell is beginning on original internodes. The sweet smell is like a brick wall when opening the tent. Keeping humidity down by opening a port on the side of my tent and adding an extra fan works well. This has been a great learning grow for me. I'm amazed the number of tops this strain has been able to produce. Next time I will be using air pots or something similar.
This is going to be a good yield. Dense buds covered in trichromes are filling the tent everywhere you look. I've been working with LEDs lately and have been finding some very interesting differences and similarities with the HID lighting the closer I get to harvest. I've just let this nute problem go as next week starts the fkush. I don't consider my self beat by this nute lockout in the sense that I'm very happy with what is coming out of this tent. Different containers next time 100% I am looking to find a high yield single cola strain I want to try and grow a few bowling pin sized nugs😎
These girls are packin! The most satisfying part of a grow for me is to see the fruits of my labour blossom into plump nuggets of dank joy! They are reacting to the flush in typical fashion. Phosphorus is running out of the fat indica fingers, creating a purple hue. The pheno on the left is a week ahead of the right side plant. At least. I could even see it going longer. Very excited for the range of effects in regards to sativa/indica ratio. A few amber trichromes here and there but the majority are developing a haze that will lead to the results seeking. Soon. We are almost there.
We are reaching full maturity slowly but surely. The pheno on the left is a solid week ahead of the one on the right. They are finishing quite differently. The left has reached full color showing yellows and purples about 12 days ago. Her velvety flowers a plump and juicy looking and remind me of a sour candy. The one on the right is showing signs from the flush but calyx swell and trichrome production has yet to peak. The smell is intense and even slightly different then the critical Kush I've experienced in the past. Pheno A will be harvested this week I'm guessing. Watching trichromes day to day at this point. I like just a bit of amber.
This shit is the bomb. I'm up to my elbows in high quality chronic and can't point out one negative. Great learning grow. Time for a change new things to come soon.
@McKush420 , no worries, a well deserved appraisal!
If you did have any tips on the do's and don't's for a beginner that'd be great! I'm trying to work out how to mimic all optimal conditions for a 4x4 tent.
I didn't think about RO but doing my homework looks like it'd be worth the effort. What kind of RO system do you use? And do you know the wattage on your system? But to be completely honestly i dont understand what your RO system is? does it go through RO and then do you water with the product that comes out the other end? Similar to an Hydrologic stealth 300
Things get coldish here so i think ill try to use a heater when things go that way but the HPS should keep that under control the majority of veg. Planning to use a thermostat controller to keep the optimal temp and hope for that to be suffice. Will use a water heater for ideal water temp.Do you heat your water?? What is your opinion on my choices?
Planning to follow your phenos, (assuming you mean light) will change light time depending on how the girls are going. Can't get access to many nutrients here so that is going to be my biggest struggle, Looking on this site and viewing various videos/tutorials 1 gram/watt is achieved by a variety of top competitor nutrients so for now I'm just going to keep looking at high quality grows to try and find the best nutrients i can obtain and hope for the best. Have access to canna products and a few others but i haven't been on a diary yet with only canna used with good results like yours! so i am skeptical.
The thing I'm struggling to understand is in the flower stage in some grows there are approximately 20m/l of nutrients added but there are 10 + different products used in some of the diaries... I'm reluctant to listen to what the local hydro shop say as they are going to sell me something even if it isnt going to give me a high yield. I don't know how i'm going to substitute this to achieve similar results.. we do have a selection of nutrients BUT i don't know how as a novice I'm going to suddenly have my own recipe made up suddenly
Any ideas/tips? :D
I don't actually know what signs are of knowing when to switch from veg to flower do you know any signs?
1)OK golden rule noted cheers, following my question above about RO because i'm assuming you water 2-3 times per day? how many times do you feed a day? does your feeding schedule change throughout the grow?
2)This will my first so i hope to learn haha. Assuming you mean the top bud why would the top bud need supporting after going through the scrog? do you mean tying the branch into the scrog?
3)Please...... elaborate with this bacon trick, do you mean in the room or just in the kitchen in the morning?
Well I'm impressed so far McKush!! Do you mean a consultancy relating to info on this or a different kind ?

@McKush420 Nice plants dude! What are the benefits from using such a large pot? Sorry I'm abit of a novice. Was also curious as to how you knew that another ScrOG is necessary ? and do you control the smell from the plants and if so how do you control/cover that? Are the pots 18 L or 18 gal
Would love to ask some more questions if you were willing to answer.
Will definitely watch this thread to see how these babies go!
Cheers

@TryhardApprentice, thanks for the compliment.
1) container size. I've watched the same phenos, given the same nutrients on the same schedule produce drastically different results. It's an easy golden rule, bigger the roots, the bigger the fruits. That being said, I may have gone overkill. Watering these 68 L totes means I'm lugging in almost 40l of water every 3-4 days. I use Reverse Osmosis because it takes on nutes better then anything else and I don't own a water filteration system.
2) This being my 7th round with this strain I know how she reacts. I installed my first scrog mid-veg knowing that the tops that will be produced during the second week of flower will need support. With this setup I will top one time and tie over my mid internodes.
3) As for the smell I'm running a ventilation system through a charcoal filter. This eliminates the majority of odors. With cannabis being legal and only running a cycle of two plants in well within my legal means. I have had to be discreet in the past and if your looking for a tip. BACON. Slow cook one strip every day in a pan with a slice of onion and you will be good. Trust.
Ask away,I would like to run a consultancy in the near future so I honestly welcome any questions.
