I was out of town last week, not being able to update. During my vacation i left the garden in my sister's hands and the ladies got overfed because of a miscommunication. The girls have been flushed and will be flushed again tomorrow. followed by some waterings and will be harvesting around march 10 as long as the girls have enough amber thricomes. Aiming for 20 to 30% amber as i need my girls to help me sleep well. Shes cannibalizing herself allot through the last week and been picking of leaves that allow me to pull them off without too much force. Im finally getting ready for harvest

Hey fellow growers. How do you avoid salt buildups or nute lockouts? Does anyone else do the water, water, feed schedule to avoid lockouts? Id be happy to hear how you guys avoid them

I think doing the water water feed method is a good choice, fixing a deficiency is much easier than a toxicity. I'm a firm believer in less is more....usually. my outdoor grows have been a W, W, F schedule like yours and the only time i had a problem was when I misread the dose for calmag...and it completely caused a problem. I think most people's 1st solution to buildup is to flush, regardless of what you're gardening. But you can flush with an additive that helps breakdown salts like Sledgehammer by foxfarm, otherwise we can use organic materials like peat moss or compost to help neutralize the salts. . I wanna say even using good mycorrhizal fungi products help too...they'll either help consume the salts otherwise maybe make the roots stronger at resisting the salts, and they make nutrient uptake extremely more effective so you dont need as much nutrients to begin with. This was a cool question. Happy growing. ✌️

Hey fellow growers. I currently have a magnesium def that keeps spreading even after the flush. Does anyone have experience with Canna Mono Cal 15% and Canna Mono Mg 7%? Reccomend dosage is 1ml. Only to be used with deficiencies because of the high concentration. Thank you!Cheers

Hello well I don't know about these nutrients but what I know is that cal+mag should represent 0.3 of EC which mean that you need to check the water Ec value then put the cal mag until you reach 0.3 more in your Ec and then add your usual nuts 😊😉

Looking good mate! Looks like you taken thorough steps to ensure you are rid of problems so thumbs up probably was the salts left in soil! Please to hear about sorting the heating solution sure the plants will thank you for this! The tips of the leaves can also burn due to potassium deficiency when they go into flower as use alot of this nutrient. So make sure they getting some flores! I wouldn't let your soil stay dry for 2 days, as soon as its dry ready for feed again. Dry soil kills off the root hairs and takes time to get them back again! @Trainrails holes are great you don't want any water sitting in the pots it allows air into the soil aswell from multiple angles. You will just have to water more as it will dry out quicker!

I like your DIY grow room. Nice use of space. The plants look really healthy, and growth is pretty fast. I've never heard of your ponytail technique. I love new methods. Where did you hear about it? I would suggest that you do a little research on this auto strain before doing any major LST. Some auto strains can be really picky. They might not like LST, or a lot of nutes. They will respond with stunted growth, and it could affect their bud production. I have a new auto grow going, and my whole mindset is going to be, "Leave them alone." I've grown one of the strains before, and I used a lot of LST on it. (I thought it would be a great idea!) The buds turned out fine, but the yield was really low.

@Quexos, agreed. GD helps so much, problems get identified not just by you but by everybody else. I was so thankfull for GD when i found it 😂

Quexoscommented6 years ago
@ArucambaAutoflowers297, 50 grams! That is very respectable for an auto. I've only been growing a year now. I grew herb when I was in college, but that was 40 years ago or so. Things have changed a lot. I spend a lot of time researching and asking questions of other growers. There are a lot of fantastic growers on this website.
ArucambaAutoflowers297
ArucambaAutoflowers297commented6 years ago
@Quexos,you're definitely a few steps ahead of me haha. The most i yielded of an auto is 50 grams. Ive always used 7.5 liter pots. Thts 1.6 gallon i believe my current grow are in buckets. Not sure of the size but i think around 12 to 15 liters. I definitely have to get my yields up but my main priority now is go through a grow without any issues. Im still a noob and i know it takes time to become a master at this

@ArucambaAutoflowers297, I have 5 flowering plants in my 1mx1m tent. It's a bit crowded. It doesn't help that one of the plants is half the size of the rest. I can't raise or lower individual lights, but I have little stools that do the trick. I haven't used them this grow though. I had only grown 1 auto prior to my current auto grow of 4. I wasn't real happy about the yield that time, but I've learned a lot since then.
ArucambaAutoflowers297
ArucambaAutoflowers297commented6 years ago
@Quexos, hahaha yea they would fit like a puzzle. So i have another tent setup when they get too big. My autos usually stay between 50 and 60 cm. I do have a girl now thats 85cm. If i run into issues with a uneven canopy i can raise or lower the cobs so it will be ok :) And yes autos are so much fun. I love it when the girls double up in size growing cms a day
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@ArucambaAutoflowers297, 6 autos in your tent! Do they all grow about the same size? Sounds like they are since they are similar strains. I didn't think I'd like growing autos, but I'm having a lot more fun with my auto tent than with my photo tent. Auto tent moves much quicker!

Everything looks great! Plants are healthy and a lush green. Your bud sites are developing nicely. You've just started flowering. You have a long ways to go. Be careful about adding more nitrogen as this point. Once your girls finish their stretch, they will only produce leaves for a short time after. Their needs will be different. Nitrogen might not be the answer at this stage of the game.
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@ArucambaAutoflowers297, Good plan. flowering takes a long time. You have plenty of feedings to get to full strength.
ArucambaAutoflowers297
ArucambaAutoflowers297commented6 years ago
@Quexos, thanks for the wise answer my friend. They are showing true flowers this week so ill be switching to bloom with the next feeding. I think ill start at 1ml. My ladies usually dont get much more then 2.5ml
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@ArucambaAutoflowers297, I switch from veg to flowering nutes when I see true flowers. My thinking is that veg nutes are designed for growth, and when the plants start to flower, they stretch a lot and still produce a lot of leaves. They still need those veg nutes. However, when flowers appear that stretch and leaf production starts to gradually slow down and stop. That's when flowering nutes are more important. I make the switch all at once, but I start at lower strengths for the first week or so. Right now my auto tent is getting flowering nutes. I started at 50%. I'll get it up to 100% pretty quick though.

Looking healthy mate! Can you try measure the diameter of your stem please bud so can compare, I will also do the same when update my week 3 of the diary! I wouldn't be afraid to give the girl a little bit more vega, just done 1.5ml/l on day 17 for my girls they loving life! Especially as you probably only have 1-2 weeks left on it!

rudiakcommented6 years ago
@ArucambaAutoflowers297, haha no worries! I thought would be to much effort to measure like that but not a bad way! Yeahh they are pretty beafy can't beleive how quick they grow! Week 3 will be posted in 2 days, on tuesday, its killing me waiting haha! Accidently topped? Broke :( Good luck hope she copes alright! Could work out nicely though, do post pictures always interesting stuff :)
ArucambaAutoflowers297
ArucambaAutoflowers297commented6 years ago
@rudiak, lol sorry for the confusion hahah i measured around the stem with a string and then measure the string. I just measured the main stalk below the first node at 9mm and the sidebranches at 5mm. Yours should be nice and beefy aswell. When are you posting week3? Btw i just accidently topped the youngest lady. Shes atleast one week behind and was working on her 5th node and isnt showinh any pistils yet. The funny thing is one of the branches that will take over as main tops is a mutant and has 2 tops sticking out of 1 branch 😂 ill post some pictures wo you can see if you like.

rudiakcommented6 years ago
@ArucambaAutoflowers297, yeah thats fair enough! Everyone of my feeds is till 20% run off and I do feed feed water so you could say I will do a flush midway but not specifically changing up my feed schedule just staying consistent! In my personal opinion (each to our own each persons methods work for them) I want to give it enough veg nutes to get a reasonable size plant, and on a short timeline as will swap to bloom about 12 days into flower. 30mm? Damn thats over an inch my friend very thick stems, you sure you didn't measure circumfrance? :P it looks about 5-10mm just below the first node!

Your grow is progressing nicely. Your autos are a week or two ahead of my auto grow. Those buds will fill in nicely over the next month or so. Have you thought about doing a slurry test? I learned how to do them when I used NFTG. Its real easy and the results gives you a good idea of the PPM in your soil. I liked your idea of flushing once you saw the tips. If I ever see problems, I immediately cut back on nutes, run my soil and water tests, then flush. I feel it kinda gives your soil a clean (er) slate.
ArucambaAutoflowers297
ArucambaAutoflowers297commented6 years ago
@Quexos, thanks for the tip! Ill see what i can find :)
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@ArucambaAutoflowers297, Oregon's Finest is the nutrient company. They make an Organic line called Nectar for the Gods. They recommend slurry tests. You can get on their website to see how its done. Flushing with plain water never hurts anything. If you are using a nutrient rich soil then most of your plants needs are taken care of before you even feed! Do a search on GD and check out other grows that use the same nutrients you are using. GD has a filter as well so you can get grows that are similar in set up to yours.
ArucambaAutoflowers297
ArucambaAutoflowers297commented6 years ago
@Quexos, im not sure how to do a slurry test. I should look into it. I hope i caught it on time this time. I really fucked up my last grow because of taking too long to do something about it

ArucambaAutoflowers297
ArucambaAutoflowers297commented6 years ago
@Trainrails, it does help. Just try to just use the tip *lol* or you could damage your roots. And also water slowly so it doesnt just run out the holes. Cheers bro!
Trainrails
Trainrailscommented6 years ago
@ArucambaAutoflowers297, sounds like a good idea! Maybe I should make some holes in my pot as well.
ArucambaAutoflowers297
ArucambaAutoflowers297commented6 years ago
@Trainrails,thanks bro! I drilled the holes for more oxygen to get to the soil, the buckets are also bigger then the pots i usually use. I dont want my soil to stay wet for to long. I usually have 2 dry days between every watering and wanted it to stay that way. Thanks for passing by 🤘🌱

Looking great mate, the buds have really fattened up and responded well to the tent tbh, the extra light being bounced around their canopy must of benefitted them! Shame about the burnt leaves but it happens and I'm sure it won't effect things to much just doesn't look great. We all have a few burnt leaves though and I have finally discovered why I am getting a so many (drops of water off the intake line being so cool where the air is condensing). Will cover in my next update! They fit really nicely in that tent, I would take off a couple of the fan leaves on the top couple of nodes though as they are big and burnt anyway now just blocking light until they fall off. I noticed my plants have been killing off leaves that have been blocking bud sites they are smart :) Got the tell tale orange hairs amongst the white hairs of the cookie strain also! You got a few yellow pages you can put under the front right girl or something like that just to raise her height to match the others?

Nice new set up! It looks like the perfect fit. Your girls are growing nicely! You might want to trim off a lot of those decaying leaves. They are of little use to the plant anymore. I would reconsider foliar feeding at this point. You open yourself up to bud rot when you start spraying your plants when they are flowering. I usually stop when I see my first true flowers emerge. More than likely you can just add that foliar nute to your watering regimen.
ArucambaAutoflowers297
ArucambaAutoflowers297commented6 years ago
@Quexos, thank you bro! I was it wasnt gonna fit but thankfully it did! I just defoliated so lets hope the new growth comes out good now that theyre flushed and had a feeding. The foliar feeding was a few days ago and i covered budsites where i sprayed. I usually dont foliar feed cal mag but i wanted to help her recover without overwatering, turns out i fcked it up 😂
