1. I was really good last year so Santa left a new 4x4x7.5 grow tent and a beautfiul 260w QB light kit under the tree this year.
2. I'll be growing 4 autos for the first grow.
3. I've grown this strain before. The last time I used a ton of LST. AS far as I'm concerned, the results were less than spectacular. The buds looked and smelled great. The smoke was smooth and stony, but the yield was barely over an ounce. I can do better.
4. This time I will leave the plant alone to grow more naturally. I'll defoliate to keep the budsites clear, and I'll use a minimal amount of LST if necessary.
1. She is growing short and squat! Leaves are fat. She started out a little slower than the other girls in the tent, but she is starting to pick it up.
2. She received her first full strength feeding of Recharge this week. She has developed her first set of true fan leaves, and is quickly developing the next set. I like to start feeding once the plant begins its 2nd set of true leaves. I'll begin with .25 strength then increase to .5 strength. Depending on her reaction, I'll kick it up to full strength within the next 2-3 weeks.
1. Huge growth spurt between week's 2-3. Not a lot of vertical growth, but secondary nodes are developing nicely, and she has lush, fat leaves!
2. I'm considering some defoliation, LST, or both to open up some of that secondary growth. I haven't decided yet. My new mantra is, "Leave them alone."
3. This was the first week of feeding nutes. Day 1: 1l Filtered Water+25% Strength Sensei Grow A+B. Day 4: 1l Filtered Water+25% Strength Sensei Grow A+B. Day 6: 2l Filtered Water+Full Strength Recharge.
4. Next week I will increase the strength to 50%. The next week I will increase the dosage to 100% depending on the plant's response and if she has gone into flower. I'm hoping for a 5 week veg. period.
5. I have to say, my plants are really responding to Recharge. You can tell when your plants are loving life. It seems like they get an extra kick on Recharge days. Good stuff!
1. RCM finally showed true flowers earlier this week. She has been developing at at an adequate pace. Secondary growth has been very good. There are a lot of viable bud sites. Stretch has been minimal so far. I didn't experience a lot of stretch the last time I grew this strain either. I was hoping for a plant about 1m in height though.
2. I've switched to flowering nutes. RCM will be getting Sensei Bloom A+B @ 75% Strength, and Bud Candy @ 50% Strength. I'll kick it up to 100% on the next round of feedings. Recharge levels have not changed.Feeding schedule remains: Feed-Feed-Recharge.
3. I've increased the amount of filtered water used during feeding and Recharge fro 1l to 2l. Days between feedings is yet to be determined.
4. I am starting to see a few variegated leaves on my plants. I provided a photo. I've grown this strain before and there were zero variegated leaves. I've only had 1 so far on this plant, but my Critical Punch Auto has thrown about 5 of them.
1. Huge jump in growth this week! She has doubled in size. Bud formation has really started in earnest. The stretch has really opened up the budsites.
2. I pruned some of the lowest budsites. They would be popcorn buds at best. I've also been defoliating any leaves that block the light. I'm really trying to get as much light to the budsites as possible. There should easily be enough foliage to keep vigorous growth going.
3. Watering/Feeding schedule is the same 2l Filtered water every 3 days or so. On feed days I am using Bloom Nutes at 50%. On non-feed days, I am using full strength Recharge.
1. RCM is just chugging along. Stretch is about over. I was hoping for a much larger plant based on some of the photos I've seen.
2. Buds are stacking nicely. Secondary buds are very well developed.
3. I've increased feeding strength to 75%. I'll finish this round of feedings/waterings/Recharge then kick it up to 100%.
1. Growing like a weed....
2. Added Big Bud to the flowering nute schedule. I'll keep using Bud Candy for the next 2 weeks then switch to Overdrive for 2 weeks. She should be ready for flushing by then.
3. Not much smell so far. I just started looking at trichomes.
1. This grow is finishing up nicely. Buds are really getting fat. Leaves are starting to fade away. Reminds me of a song...
2. The next 2 rounds of feeding I will omit Bud Candy and Big Bud, reduce Sensei Bloom A+B and add Overdrive. I will continue using Recharge every 3rd feeding.
1. She is just doing her thing. Buds are packing on weight, trichomes are glistening, leaves are fading, kinda like a fall day.
2. This should be the last week of feeding. I've reduced Sensei Bloom and Bud Candy to 75%. I stopped using Big Bud when I started using Overdrive. This will be the 2nd week of feeding with Overdrive. This will also be the last feeding of Recharge.
3. Next week I will reduce Sensei Bloom and Bud Candy to 50%. Overdrive will remain at 100% for this week. Instead of Recharge will do a full filtered water flush. Once her soil has dried out, I will used Flawless Finish and Filtered Water for 2 watering sessions. Finally I will do another full filtered water flush then determine whether it is time to harvest.
4. Trichomes are only clear to cloudy at this point. She is fading quite a bit, but I still see white pistils popping up now and again.
1. We are nearing the finish line. The buds are rock solid. Trichomes are cloudy, leaves are falling like a crisp autumn day.
2. I've stopped feeding flowering nutes. I'll finish up with Flawless Finish for a few waterings then flush with filtered water once or twice.
3. I'm guesstimating a harvest time of 2 weeks.
1. This girl is really turning out nice. I think I've done a much better job growing this strain than last time. Buds are heavy and thick. They are extremely sticky and frosty. Trichs are a solid milky color. They look like thousands and thousands of little full moons!
2. She received a final flushing today with an ocean full of filtered water. I think I'm going to give her 1-2 more normal waterings before drying her out and putting her in the dark for 3 days. She does not look quite ready.
1. Well, today was the day! I did a final flush with filtered water last Saturday. I let her dry out until Tuesday morning then I put her in a cold, dark room for 3 days...Carrie style!
2. I provided before dark room and after dark room photos of the plant and the main cola to see if there is any difference. I'll let you judge.
3. She weighed in at a whopping 481g wet. I usually net about 1/6 of my wet weight so I'm guessing +/- 80g. That's almost 3 ounces!! Holy cow!
4. I'll update the final weights and taste test next week. She is in the drying box right now. Usually it takes 5-7 days for the buds to dry out enough to trim and jar for curing.
This is the second time I've grown this strain. The first time it was okay. This time she really shined! She was a short strain, not even 2ft., but she grew quickly and robustly. Flowering was before 4 weeks. She was done at 12. I might've been able to extend her flowering cycle a week, but I'm really happy with this harvest window. There was a nice main cola. The secondary branching had large, dense, frosty buds running the entire stalk. Overall, I like RQS genetics. I'd like to try a few different strains in the future. Based on my experiences with this strain, I'd recommend them as a breeder.
This was an easy strain to grow! Using Recharge to improve the root system, she took off like a rocket! She was very hardy, grew to a small stature, and began flowering about mid-4th week. She grew a strong central stalk and her secondary stalks almost formed a canopy. This gave me a bunch of really dense, frosty budsites!😋 Since I've grown this strain before, I can offer some comparison. I don't think that LST, or topping is a good idea. This strain likes to be left alone in that regard. The biggest difference between the grows was the lights. She thrived under the QB!
@royaljack128, I've grown this strain twice now and neither plant had an over-powering aroma. Its kinda caramel-like. It's much more fragrant after curing..
@GandalfTheGreen, Thanks! This is the second time I've grown this strain. I'm thinking this harvest will be 3x larger than the last time. It's amazing how much difference a year makes in terms of growing experience.
