First roots started appearing after 48h, fully sprouted after 72h on July 13. Using a DIY Aeroponic Cloner with plain pH controlled water (~6)
(Citric Acid turned out to be a bad way for hydroponics pH regulation)
Transfered the plant from the aerocloner to my first little 5L Bubbleponic DWC Container. This reservoir will turn out to be way to small. The net pot is 3D printed, which was a horrible idea too.
The reservoir temperature is also to high which resulted in some slimy air tubes. Didn't properly rinse the
Roots are already making their way into the solution. Reservoir is dirty and some algae ist growing. That's what you get for starting a DWC grow in a heatwave and not properly rinsing your hydroton.
Been to a festival, first time leaving the setup unattended. Didn't flood my apartment ;)
Things are looking good. The plant kept growing despite algae constantly returning. Swapped nutrient solution and cleaned reservoir every 5 days at this point. Still full nutrient dose, the plant takes it very well for an auto.
Roots are growing nice and white.
A lot happened this week. Plant moved to different tents twice, first to a 40x40cm tent which the plant outgrew in like 2 days.
I also realized in this week that I horribly underestimated the root growth and water consumption. I quickly went to the hardware store and got myself a bigger container, 15 liters this time. This reservoir will also turn out to be way too small.
This is also the first time I got worried about my roots due to discoloration and the color of the nutrient solution. I started regularly cleaning the roots with hydrogenperoxide at this point. Looking back, this was likely a combination of dead roots from transferring, nutrient discoloration and early stages of root rot.
Scary week ahead. Hydrogenperoxide treatment worked fine, but now I am leaving for 5 days for vacation. I set up my remote access to monitor everything via Home Assistant.
Everything went well though, still had a sip of nutrients left when I arrived back home. The plant outgrew the tent again, never experienced such explosive growth in such short time.
Will move the plant again to the big 100x100cm tent next week.
Did a lot of different LST techniques this week to get a nice and flat canopy. The plant is growing like crazy and training is a breeze due to some nice internode distance and the stretching.
Pistils appeared through out the week.
Next week is gonna be a rollercoaster of emotions, buckle up y'all.
Big surprise on sunday: I f*cked up :)))
Looking back, I had multiple problems. First of all, I woke up to one of the air tubes having popped of. The 3D printed net pot exploded last week and littered the reservoir with badly rinsed hydroton and I still had an algae problem.
This resulted in not-so-nicely-colored roots and a wayyyyy to high pH basically causing a full nutrient lockout.
At this point I too realized that the citric acid solution is basically useless as after an hour the pH was back to the original value if not higher.
The plant recovered during the week after I applied the following fixes:
- attached a rope ratchet from the stem to the tent roof and lifted the plant, installed a collar so the original net pot containing the rockwool sits about 2,5cm above the reservoir
- fully cleaned reservoir and roots from hydrotone and plastic scraps with h2o2
- started using king crab bennies
- started using a real 3 part pH down solution instead of goddamn citric acid
Kind of a slow but positive week. The bennies and ph- are working their magic, new healthy roots are growing and the plant is praying again. Lost a lot of leaves but were definitely back in the game.
Only used 40-60% strength nutrient solution, checked ppm and topped up with plain water.
Everything's looking good again. We're growing loads of new leaves, buds are maturing, roots are growing.
Plant finally started drinking again. Loads of water though, I am topping up like twice a day. At this point I realized that I, again, chose a wayyyyy to small reservoir. Who could've guessed the plant sips 5 liters a day. Will use a 30 liter reservoir next time.
Started checking on the trichomes this week, but didn't pay attention to my upper buds distance to the LED panel, realized by the end of the week that there are too many pistils and they might be foxtailing a little. Increased distance by about 10cm.
Was lazy and didn't check pH, it dropped to below 5 at the end of the week. Added Plagron pH+ and swapped solution two days later. Everything is fine.
