Welcome to the Smoking Tiki's hut!
For this grow, I'm using some of the seeds I won at the Summer Buds contest from last year. I kept the seeds in my fridge door during one year. It worked very well because all the seeds successfully germinated after 48h! 😎 I used 3x3 seeds. I selected 2x3 seeds with the bigger root to put them in some pots. I will let them grow a bit and then select the 3 best plants to make it until the harvest.
It's the first time I grow some Fast Buds under a light and in a controlled environement, I'm really curious to see how it turns out!
My set-up:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Mars Hydro TSW2000 (300W).
- Tristar fan (30W)
- Greenmigo dehumidifier (155W).
- Compo Sana universal soil (2x40l)
- Timer
- Weather station + pH meter
Have a nice journey through my grow diary!
The 6 plants came out of the ground and look good 😎 In my 2 previous growths, I had better result with 24h of light on the first week compared to 18h, so I tried this schedule again and it seems to work. The plants are stretching as usual, maybe due to my soil being too rich in nitrogen. I added a wet towel to increase the humidity. 2 out of 3 of the extra seeds developped nicely. Great seeds, especially after one year in the fridge👍
Plants heights at the end of the week :
-------------------------------------------
Gorilla Cookies 1 : 10.5cm
Gorilla Cookies 2 : 11.5cm
Purple Lemonade 1 : 8.5cm
Purple Lemonade 2 : 10cm
Wedding Cheesecake 1 : 8.5cm
Wedding Cheesecake 2 : 9.5cm
All the plants grow nicely! The Gorilla Cookies #2 bent because of its stretch but I added a tutor and it recovered really well. I also added one to the Gorilla Cookies #1 to prevent it from bending. Next week, I will select the 3 best ones and put them in their final pot 😎
Plants heights at the end of the week :
-------------------------------------------
Gorilla Cookies 1 : 14.5cm
Gorilla Cookies 2 : 15cm
Purple Lemonade 1 : 12.5cm
Purple Lemonade 2 : 12.5cm
Wedding Cheesecake 1 : 15cm
Wedding Cheesecake 2 : 15.5cm
I started the week by selecting the 3 best plants to put them into their final 26l pots with some Dynomyco. I made the selection based on their sizes, shapes and roots. I increased the light output from 25% to 50% and started the week with 23h of light per day. After a few days I noticed what I think are light burns on every plants so I reduced the number of hours/day to 18h and it seems ok now. I checked the pH, not optimum but alright for soil and I always have this 7.0 with this soil and this pH meter (don't know if it works properly or not because it's always 7.0 in this soil, never 7.1 or 6.9).
The 3 plants grew a lot this week, it's one of my best growth rate so far so I'm very happy 😁 The Wedding Cheesecake is by far above the two others, it already developped 5 nodes so I topped it (first time it happens to me that soon). As usual with this soil, I think they have a bit of nitrogen toxicity but nothing critical.
Plants heights at the end of the week :
-------------------------------------------
Gorilla Cookies : 18.5cm
Purple Lemonade : 15cm
Wedding Cheesecake : 22cm
I topped the 2 last plants and started LST on all of them without any problem. The growth was pretty impressive this week, especially for the Wedding Cheesecake which is clearly bigger then the others. I had to add some supports to compensate the height difference between the plants. I removed some leaflets here and there during the week to give some light to the lower branches without removing too much leaves. I increased the light power to 75%. I will probably give them another week and then switch to the 12h/12h schedule.
Plants heights at the end of the week :
-------------------------------------------
Gorilla Cookies : 29cm
Purple Lemonade : 22.5cm
Wedding Cheesecake : 37cm
The plants are doing really good! I made a first light defoliation beginning of the week and continued the LST day by day. So far I broke no branch. I planned to switch to 12h/12h schedule beginning of next week but the plants grew too big already so I decided to switch a bit earlier.
Plants heights at the end of the week :
-------------------------------------------
Gorilla Cookies : 40cm
Purple Lemonade : 32cm
Wedding Cheesecake : 44cm
The stretch has begun and they look good💪 The first pistils appeared on the 3 plants so the first flowers should be there pretty soon 😎 I decreased the humidity from 60 to 55% and increased the watering.
Plants heights at the end of the week :
-------------------------------------------
Gorilla Cookies : 63cm
Purple Lemonade : 47.5cm
Wedding Cheesecake : 64cm
The plants streched a lot this week! The flowering has started 😎 I made a last defoliation to give some light to the lower buds. I started to give some BioBloom. It's impressive how much these plants must drink, this is the first time I have to water every day!
Plants heights at the end of the week :
-------------------------------------------
Gorilla Cookies : 90cm
Purple Lemonade : 69.5cm
Wedding Cheesecake : 89cm
They continued to stretch a lot! But I think the stretch comes to an end now, hopefully I have no tent and I'm not too limited to put the light up. The Wedding Cheesecake had a few yellowing leaves at the bottom so I gave it some BioGrow hoping it will help. The 3 plants have roots all over the soil and the buds are growing nicely 😎
Plants heights at the end of the week :
-------------------------------------------
Gorilla Cookies : 108cm
Purple Lemonade : 76cm
Wedding Cheesecake : 96cm
Overall the plants look ok and the buds grow nicely👌
I slightly open the window every evenings to help reducing the humidity but last night I forgot to close it and woke-up very late in the morning because I was sick. The temperature dropped to 14°C during a few hours and the plants received some light during around 3 hours from the window's crack (see picture). I hope this will not mess with the flowering... If you had the same kind of experience I would be glad to hear how it turned out for you!
Plants heights at the end of the week :
-------------------------------------------
Gorilla Cookies : 108cm (final height)
Purple Lemonade : 76cm (final height)
Wedding Cheesecake : 96cm (final height)
The buds are developing nicely and some pistils started to turn orange. I tested different things for the watering this week to avoid having too dry soil or too much excess water. The Wedding Cheesecake continues to have yellow leaves at the bottom despite the add of some biogrow. Overall it looks ok and the buds are growing so I'm not too concerned. I saw no particular issues due to the light leak from last week.
Buds are growing😁 I think I might have nutrient burned my plants a bit, especially the Wedding Cheesecake. I've decided to listen the advices from @nonick123 and remove the BioGrow. I'm still searching a good way to water them, they seems to drink more some days, so I try to adapt. The smell is super strong in the room now, it smells really good 😎
Like every time, I have a lot of springtails in my soil, hopefully it's not an issue. I added some strings to the Wedding Cheesecake because some branches are bending as the buds are getting bigger.
Buds are maturing. I think the Gorilla Cookies should be ready end of next week, the two others will maybe need more time. I added some strings to the Wedding Cheesecake because the branches were slowly falling, now it's good.
I ran out of BioBloom but the harvest is really close now so I would have water with clear water anyway, cool! I harvested the Gorilla Cookies end of the week. The two other ones are almost ready, I'll probably harvest them end of next week 😎 I also rearranged the last two ones to put them right under the light.
This is the last week 💀 There are less pictures than usual but nothing special happened except the yellowing of the plants due to the nutrients cut. Wait for the "Harvest" week for the final photo shoot 😎
