Hi,
The plants are now all transplanted, and they seem to be happy.
This week-end, the water system will be flushed and a new nutrient dosage will be added.
As you can see, the air temperature is a bit on the cold side for "day time", so the light intensity has been slightly cranked up, as well as the water temp increased to 22 and the fan intake slightly reduced.
The goal is to reach and stabilize the day temp between 21 and 22.
So we are reaching the end of this vegetative week and faced 2 issues :
1. temperature is a bit low so we bought a heater bar which will be installed next week
2. some leaves started to twist which was a sign of nutrient deficiency ( confirmed by the ec that was way too low )
=> action taken : increase feeding dosages to align values on "heavy" feeding schedule from "Canna" nutrient, increasing temp should also help to increase the nutrient assimilations

So this real 3rd week of vegetative is reaching its end ( I am not counting as vegetative the week before the transplant ).
The growth has been seriously impacted by the low temperature ( < 22 degrees ) and low EC ( 0.9 - 1.0 instead of 1.2 - 1.3 ).
But after buying a heater and increasing the nutrients dosage by 10 % ( compared the the feeding schedule which is already labelled as "heavy" ) the plants are reacting positively and are developping the width ( instead of growing in height ) at a very fast rate.
Plant nbr1 has been chopped to split the main colas in 2.
This is mainly a test to evaluate the reaction of the plant when doing so. Of course, it might have been better to let the chopped plant without stress for at least 1 week before switching to flowering, but leaving just 3 days to recover is also part of the experience.
This Sunday 27th of January the plants will be switched to flowering, yippie !
Conclusion : the Canna official recommended feeding ( pulled directly from their website ) is too light when following the recommended dosages ( this is for the Canna Vega line of products ).
And once you start adjusting the dosages based on the values on your ph and ec metre, then you need to overfeed slightly, at least for the vegetative phase.

2 hours after changing nutrients we have noticed the stains on leaves with some leaves wilting & drooping.
As ph,ec & air/water temperatures are within range, oxygenation and circulation are good, what could be the problem:too much UV ? a fan blowing DIRECTLY on the plants? tx
hey there JVG, so in hydro you need micro, what you're seeing there is magnesium deficiency you can tell from the yellowing between the veins. you need to add micro nutrients or at least cal mag, do that and the plant should recover fairly quickly. give a quick check to your roots see if you need to prune and dead ones . So we are just entering the second week of flowering.
Out of the 4 plants, nbr 2 & 3 seem to thrive while nbr 4 is paler, and nbr 1 seems to have suffered the most from a defficiency and direct fan blow.
As the roots were showing some red parts probably due to some higher temp ( 23.5 degrees in water ) , once the temperature was corrected, we have added some House&Garden Root Excelurator Silver to boost some new roots growth.
We wonder if we could use some liquid oxygen to really "sterilize" the nutrient solution for 24h, and then add some healthy/protective bacteria again to recolonize the roots.
Normally, by the end of this week the first flowers should appear, with the smell getting stronger.
So we are entering the 4th week of flowering ... sadly, we had to cut nbr 2 as it had balls ...
Let's hope the final weeks are not bringing bad surprises.
This week will see the trimming, defoliation and preparation of the flowers to facilitate their full development.
This is a first for me and I hope the plants will survive the stress.
Nothing much to say, really : the plants are developing well , maybe a bit slow due to the light being far away.
Or it's a slow Jack Herer leaning on the sativa side of things.
SOooooooo what could I say :
1. are we having issues ? nope
2. are the flowers ripe ? nope", not yet
3. when do we have the first macros pictures ? next week !
Still waiting for the plants to get fully ripe ... it's taking a hell of a time ...

Finally, the proportion of clear/milky/amber trichomes is reaching the expected values
( hmmm ok, it might still be too early but the Jack Herer's trichome colors is weird like for many trichomes going straight from clear to amber trichomes 😳 without being milky .... )

It has been now few days since I tasted the JH harvest multiple times, for my first pill batch I converted 153 gr into butter and then pills ( after decarboxylating, of course ).
The ratio for my butter is 1 gr herb vs 4 gr of butter vs 0.5 gr of lecithin : it's supposed to be quite strong ...
The mix is prepared in the Magical Butter machine where it soaks for more than 4 hours at 71 degrees C.
In total we harvested around 249 gr of dried flowers for 3 plants under 500 watts, so it's just below 0.5 gr/watt efficiency. Not good.😑
But now, the most important part of the growth & review : the tasting & effect.
The least I can say it's that I'm very disappointed in the effect overall. 😠
Why ? well, you can see from the weekly update on Growdiaries that the plants grew normally, without stress ... harvested when we had a good majority of milky trichomes with ambers appearing under the microscope ... To be honest, the effect has been far ( very far ) under the expectations.
Why is that ? why do I have the impression to have been another victim of marketing lies ?
Indeed according to the description of the strain found on the Green House website, I should have been seriously & strongly affected :
"Strong on body and mind, complex and very long lasting. Medicinally effective in pain reduction and appetite stimulation"
But in reality, the effect is just slightly relaxing, and .... that's it. Nothing justifies to pay for or even grow that lame strains. 😒
What did I feel ? simple ...
Strong on body & mind : no ... light on body, neutral on mind
complex and long lasting : noooooooooo ! simple, but indeed, it seems to be long lasting
medicinally effective in pain reduction : what kind of pain would that light effect be good for ? pains from blinking eyes ? coz the effect also seems to totally miss the point here
appetite stimulation : no, no & no ....
Would I buy again ? of course not.
And to be honest, I'm so negatively impressed by the results that I start to wonder about the outcome of my next Green Houses grow session based on the Hawaiian Snow.
OF course, there's something to be aware : those seeds were freebies Jack Herer given by Linda Seeds.
Would they have given me crappy genetics instead of the real Green Houses 's Jack Herer ? That would be stupid as nobody could benefit from counterfeit genetics.😓
