Germination started with paper towel method. Soaked paper towel and placed it along with the seeds in ziplock at approximately 2am. After a few hours I got a bit overzealous opening the ziplock to inspect the seeds. I noticed a couple sprouting but dropped 2. Seeds were later found and placed in separate ziplock. At approximately 10pm I noticed a considerable amount of sprouting but decided to keep them in their bags overnight.
The next day i moved the sprouted seeds from their ziplocks to Jiffy grow pods. I may not have watered them enough as i noticed two plants lagging behind.
On 10/7 after noticing the cotyledon on all for i placed plants into 1/2 gallon nursery bags and initially added two cups of water each. The climate within the tent was changed to match what's recommended for seedlings: Temp range 70-80, Humidity Range 60-70, VPD Range .6 - 1.1, and lighting 16 hours a day.
It appears two plants are lagging behind; however, they all appear to be doing well.
I have concerns that I may not be able to cool/heat the tent as temps at home fluctuate when I leave town. Right now it’s not an issue but I’ll have to invest in heating/cooling systems.
I’m addition, a PPF meter and something to check leaf temps seems important and appears to be a need at the time.
Week 2 appears to be going well. Noticed a considerable amount of growth in all plants; however, a couple seems to be out growing the others at a larger pace.
This week I’ve also decided to transplant, utilizing 5 gallon pots. The space has shrunk as a result so I’m trying to determine how best to orient them.
In addition to the growth and new pots, I’ve also began using fox farms grow big. I’m simply following recommendations but things seem to be going well with it all.
This week i increased the amount of grow big from 2 tsp/gl to 3. Light also increased in intensity from 4 to 8.
Thought about “training” but I think I’ll just let my first grow bloom on its own. I do plan to still use the trellis netting when the time comes.
On 10/31, after the increase in grow big and light intensity i noticed some yellowing of the leaves, not sure if its from the light nutrients or the lack of water. I checked the soil and seemed dry to the touch so decided to add regular spring water to see if it clears or worsens.
Another week. There was no more discoloration as mentioned last week, which suggests my babies are perfectly healthy.
The only change this week would be the reduced amount of big bloom nutrients based on the feeding chart from 6 to 3.
