Day 1-7 First ever DWC. Started under tiny humidity dome, but outgrew it in hours... Happily growing without any trouble, even though the water isn't ph'ed perfectly because the chemical testing stripes only have an accuracy of 0,25. The low humidity was also not to my liking but covering the seedling lead to temperatures 26°C. First root hit water level on day 7 :)

Day 8-14 Added Silicate and increased nutrients on day 11. PH at a pretty consistent 5,9-6,1. Growing weirdly slow though, partly looked like light stress even though she was at only 250 PPFD. After these 14 days of veg, she is already at least 2 days behind normal growth speed. Roots are developing nicely.

Day 15-21 Growing along really nicely since I raised the temperature to 28°C. Huge thanks to @SwissKush for his advice!! Can't hold the water Temperature below 26°C though, giving ice cubes daily. Added 2 ml/L Hydrogen Peroxide to prevent algae and bacteria. Trying to train only with defoliation, inspired by basementganja's Cheese auto on YouTube. Defoliated her right before darkness on day 19.

Day 22-28 Showed first Pistils on day 23, Scrog net was installed on day 23. She is growing along nicely, everything is dialed in. PH is checked daily and kept between 5,9 and 6,1, the temperature was decreased to ~26°C, so the water temperature is more consistent and easier to control. Defoliated shadowed leaves. Some of them were a little wavy with brown, dried spots on them, but nothing really worrying. Due to the high light intensity, the nutrients were slowly adjusted to Preflowering concentrations. So far, she seems to be happy with that.

Day 29-35 Another week with truly amazing growth!! It might be hard to see on the pictures, but during this week, she almost doubled her surface area on the Scrog net. I keep on tucking her down, but the tops are just shooting up like crazy. It's an unbelievably dense jungle on the top, but I refuse to Lollipop most branches at the time. If it gets necessary I will remove them later, but I still hope to somehow manage the crowd. The Leaves are looking healthy green by the way, my smartphone camera just makes them appear light and slightly yellow. Reservoir is being topped of every 2-3 days. The pH and nutrients are stable and never out of acceptable ranges. The roots are also reeally stacked. Most of the bucket is filled with them and they look extremely healthy. Seems like she almost has more mass in the water, than above...

Day 36-42 All in all proceeding nicely. Definitely the fastest growing and already biggest auto I have grown. Her Roots have completely busted the mesh basket and build a nice root ball. A small problem is her being such a powerhouse. Drinking ~2L of nutrient solution every day, she is massively increasing the humidity and with no choice but increasing the fan to avoid 80% + humidities the temperature is dropping to roughly 21°C. The really big issue though, depicted by the last picture, is the clear evidence of some problem she is having. I mostly ignored it in the beginning, but it is starting to spread and really worrying me. Even with some research I couldn't find a clear answer to this, so i hope some of you can help me out here. Especially you, @SwissKush... (The leaf was one of the most affected) Thanks in advance!!

Day 43-49 Entire reservoir was cleaned and switched to flowering nutrients on day 43. Her health issues didn't go away yet, but I also wasn't able to notice any worsening, except for maybe some yellowing of the highest leaf tips (increased nutrients slightly after I noticed). She didn't stretch as much as I hoped and combined with her insane density below the canopy I decided to do a big defoliation and lower the lights again for better light penetration (Day 48). I'm hoping the lower branches can catch up a tiny bit more before she stops growing and save me from having to Lollipop too much. PH is kept at 5,9-6,1 and her ppm are around 850. Big thanks again to @SwissKush for always being ready to help.

Day 50-56 She stopped stretching on day 62 at a height of 53,5 cm. If you wouldn't have further information you could think she is growing really well, but she is actually only drinking about 2L every day and her deficiency/nutrient burn hasn't gone away in the slightest, even though I already adapted her nutrients according to @SwissKush's advice. After noticing that, I increased her flowering nutrients even more and after that didn't help, I am now cutting back on all nutrients. Honestly, I don't know what to do anymore. Apart from all that, I am currently Lollipopping and defoliating daily because she is so crowded.

Day 57-63 Fattening up way too slow, drinking only 1,5-2 L a day. Just frustrating. Added some Final ripen on day 63. Apart from that I almost add no nutrients at all because her PPM stay pretty consistent (increasing with lower water level, coming back to good levels when topping of). Issue has spread all over her except for lower leaves and buds. Pretty sure it is some kind of nutrient burn. Really Smelly at this point, but not really pleasant which could be from all of the stress she is having. Really covered with trichomes, even reaching far out on the fan leaves. Due to the frustration and being pretty busy, I only made one picture this week and mostly let her do her thing while topping of the reservoir and keeping stats in good ranges.

Day 64-70 Still mostly missing out on any swelling of the buds. Did another entire water change on day 67 with adapted nutrients and I somehow think she has put on a tiny bit of size since then. If it really did help, she might still turn out okay. Currently she is not carrying any weight at all.

Happy Harvest Day!

Harvested on Day 72. Normally, I would have given her at least one more week to bulk, but because she was such a disappointment I just wanted to move on to the next plant. She grew really well during veg and early flower, but had some increasingly intense issue. Seemed like a nutrient burn but nothing I tried helped. Even advice from other growers could not help. Really frustrating, but I assume at some point in time I will be able to look back and tell what was wrong. She got really large and generally seemed to respond well to hydroponics. If it wasn't for her problem, she easily could have stacked double the weight (~260g) without a single more centimeter of growth than she already had. All in all huge potential but definitely not easy to get it all out.

nice grow! she will be a face melter! I grew this exact Blue Dream strain 2 years ago in DWC, follow my diary, and you will get impressive results. The Blue Dream is in the top 3 best auto's ive had.

@GnomesAndStones, the mix you are running, Blue Dream really likes. I purposely ran the Blue Dream with a more basic line of nutrients as advised by a grower on here and it turned out well

@SwissKush, Thanks! I already bought the same nutrients line you used, just left out the fulvic acid and root booster. I hope I can get close to your Blue Dream, quite an Inspiration :)

Hey! You will want to place your air pumps higher than the DWC water level. I learned this the hard way having to buy a pump every 3 grows. Good Luck, will keep tracking!

@GnomesAndStones, you got it! I want you to grow the most face melting monster in DWC. You already have it down pretty much!

GnomesAndStonescommented4 months ago
@SwissKush, thanks for looking so closely at my setup, but I actually have check valves installed right behind the air stones, so water shouldn't be able to run through to the pump. Please keep giving advice through, you already helped me a ton!

Hello, I'm following your grow. Looks pretty darn good! I see your comment about running into deficiency. What type of ph pen are you using? When was the last time it was calibrated? To me it looks like a ph problem and 9 times out of 10 especially in DWC that is the case. I'd recalibrate your pen to start. I've found that when growing in DWC that most plants in flower like anywhere from 600-1000ppm. Also remember that when you run into any issue, it's always wise to flush 24hrs with ph water then res change with nutrients. Good luck and happy growing!

@@MrT82, thanks a lot! I am using pH stripes to avoid any pH meter inaccuracies, so pH shouldn't be the problem here :/ She is having these problems for about 3 weeks now and I already changed the entire reservoir 1,5 weeks ago... PPM got a bit high at times, but I am now cutting back on nutrients and hope it helps. I am pretty sure it is some kind of nutrient burn, because it appears mostly on higher leaves. Thanks again for the advice and please don't hold back if you have another idea :)

MrT82commentedweek 83 months ago
Hello again, While PH strips are fine for getting a ballpark figure, they can be very tedious on determining an accurate result. When reading these tests lighting and other factors can throw off the results aswell. DWC is is VERY temperamental on PH fluctuations. I also notice that you are using a Scrog net. How do you go about changing your reservoir? If your not able to completely clean the reservoir between water changes this can cause wide ph and tds fluctuations throughout the week. I recommend changing your water and nutrients once a week and make sure the reservoir is completely clean. Imo is not a nutrient problem and tell tale signs of wide ph fluctuations. I am by no means an expert but have been growing in DWC for a long time now. 90% of that growing I've realized that once your able to dial in nutrients, it's all about PH. I would also recommend you get a tds kit. That way you will know what your plant is can handle for nutrient uptake. Just to add, if you are serious about getting into DWC, definitely invest in a blue labs PH pen and TDS . I hope this helps, and I'm sure you will still be pleased with your results!

GnomesAndStonescommented3 months ago
@MrT82, Hello :) I got test stripes with 0,25 steps, so it is relatively easy to tell pH precisely. I can't really imagine pH being the problem. To switch or top up the reservoir, I lifted the bucket up with a box I shoved under it and hung strings from the ceiling to hold the lid in place while I lower the bucket. I already bought a PPM meter, my reservoir is at roughly 900ppm. Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate your help

SwissKushcommentedweek 64 months ago
Hey the problem is two fold at the moment, Problem 1, is there is a nitrogen overdose happening, Problem 2 is a Phosphorus deficiency. Empty and clean the DWC and put in these immediately: TriPart Micro - 1.6 mll TriPart Grow - 0.8 mll TriPart Bloom - 2.4 mll CalMag - 1.0 mll Silicate - enough to get the solution up to 800ppm, 0.2-0.4mll. PPM 800 PH 6.0 She typically should be drinking 4L a day at week 6. Also, you may want to pull those lights up to 60 or 75cm to encourage upward stretch.

GnomesAndStonescommented4 months ago
@SwissKush, thank you so much!!! I did everything as you said, hopefully she recovers quickly :) The only deviation is that I have no way of measuring ppm, so I just went with 0,3 ml/L of Silicate

Wow!! Look at her grow!! She looks great! Glad I can help!! 😍😍 My DWC temp hangs around 23, and the h202 3% will neutralize any start of bacteria, while allowing the organics to remain alive in the DWC pool. Im very excited for your progress here!

@SwissKush, Yess! She is developing nicely with the higher temperatures. But (little spoiler) unfortunately she started flowering on day 2 of week 4 :( So won't turn out as big I guess... Still giving my best though :)

looking very good over here! this will be a very strong plant especially if you have more than a few roots already in your pool. in this stage I like my tent temps for DWC to be closer to 30 degrees. You will notice in my DWC diary for the blue dream the temps were 30. Raise the temps in there up to closer 28-30 and you will see her explode in growth. If you are worried about your DWC res temps, then you should be running 1-2ml/L 3% hydrogen peroxide in your res like I do. My res gets to about 22-24 when its 30 in the tent because I use thick sidewall buckets made for growing cannabis. 💪😎
