It was a little busier than normal this week. I had limited time the last couple of days and last night the plants needed watering, so the update had to wait until today. I also did not receive the new light until yesterday. Old lights were replaced and new light was installed this morning.
There were some issues with the Stiltons again. I had flushed with plain pH water early in the week, and after a couple of days it appeared like a calcium deficiency was popping up again. I bumped up the cal mag a bit, and then it then started to look like a phosphorus deficiency. After attempting to correct that, I noticed this morning what appears to be the very beginning of nute burn at the end of some tips on Stilton #1. They are having a rough week, but at least they had a good one last week. The White Crack are just rolling right along taking whatever the Stiltons get and keep getting bushy. Bud sites are forming and the plants are looking healthy.
I will probably need to mix separate water this week. The White Crack will probably still stretch some, but the Stiltons seem to have stopped and are now just plumping up those buds. I will be making adjustments to the new light as well. I have them starting at 26" away at about 75% power. I will increase the power to the 600w max over the week. If the plants don't get burned or stressed, I may lower the light a bit too. I've been getting a little concerned with the heat, so I will be keeping an eye on that. The temps got up to 85 degrees for a little while the last couple of days. But the new light is putting out less heat as it is set-up than the two lights that were running previously.
Also, thinking the advice I read suggesting to keep nutrients simple as a beginner was good, I had intended on just using Cal Mag and the Fox Farms trio for nutrients during my first grow. The phosphorus deficiency and heat changed that. I read that Canna PK 13/14 was a good solution for the phosphorus problem and that it wasn't uncommon for some plants to need a boost during week 5-6. So that may be good to have around. I then read that Silica could potentially help with any stress caused by heat and could help strengthen stems and stalks for big, fat buds. That sounds good too.
I will be adding more nutrients to the mix, ramping up the lighting, and switching to 20/4 light schedule. Keeping my fingers crossed that this is a smooth week.
@OKgrows, that's the key to it all. Have fun with it and learn from every grow. Seems like you understand this already. Thanks for your kind words and be well.
@Denzul,
Thank you! It has been fun with ups and downs. I keep learning every day and appreciate the help and encouragement. Thanks again and good luck to you as well.
Good luck on your first grow! I currently have 3 White Cracks going too! Also my first go at indoor growing! Grown once before outside with a very poor success rate lol, but the bud that managed to survive was fire! Which is why i decided I couldn't wait until next summer for my second chance! Gona follow along to see how your White Crack do! 2 of mine were really slow to start but have bushed out dramatically after about 2 weeks in flower!
@OKgrows,
Thanks bro! Means alot as a first timer(previously only had a semi succesful outdoor grow last summer). My goal was initially 300g, so 50g per plant. I'm not really sure if i'll make that goal but I'll get close I think(200-250g). I went all in with trying LST as I had never tried it before. Accidentally topped a White Crack adjusting LST and topped a 4AM as it had a wierd growth mutation.
@EelGrows, Thanks! I'll be following yours as well (pretty sure I've already checked it out a couple of times already though). It looks like you will be having plenty of sweet buds! I get excited when I see plants like that. I would be ecstatic to be somewhere in the neighborhood of what you have grown.
Good Luck with your first grow. Judging by your name we may both be in the Sooner state. I’ll be following along to see how your mephisto seeds do. I was really happy with my 4 Assed Monkey and am interested in both the strains you have chosen. Check out my first journal. What lights are you using and what is the actual power consumption if you don’t mind me asking.
@Electro19, Yes, I am just now starting to enjoy one of our new benefits this state allows us. Checking out others experiences here has been a real help in getting me going. I will definitely check out your grows. I am using King LEDs which supposedly use 260W. Hopefully they will produce decent buds until I can properly upgrade.
@@Fingers, Thank you! I have been having fun for the past month or so since I decided to give this a shot. I am still getting that Christmas morning feeling when I go in and peek inside the tent every 15 minutes 😀
