I wasn't 100% sure what I was doing! Had initially tried the paper towel method and made 0 progress eventually just took that seed and put into soil and within a day it broke through. Maybe the tap root would have come out via paper towel method if I waited another day or two. Eventually after a few days moved the seedling into the final container. Looking back I needed to add more soil overall to bring the level up higher to about maybe a half inch from the rim of the pot.

Everything seemed to be really straight forward, I avoided disturbing the plant and just checking once a day. I was pleased with what I was seeing but of course had no previous grows to compare to! Wow the plant was growing! I didn't do anything special, just followed nutrients instructions and did half of what was recommended, primarily because I read that less is easier to correct than too much.

Everything seemed to be going smoothly, then I noticed gnats. I realized the issue as the base under the pot wasn't draining properly and water was remaining there and keeping everything moist, so eventually I replaced it and got the pot onto a steel wired base with a smaller plastic tray underneath to catch run off. Used the yellow pads to catch adults as I tried to read up in a solution - first was to stop watering and let the soil dry up a bit. Apart from this the plant was growing (well??) and seemed to be healthy.

I wasn't 100% sure how to proceed with the gnat issue. Not watering definitely helped to dry the soil out, I eventually decided to go with beneficial Nemotodes as the solution here. After reading more about the gnat lifecycle I just assumed there were possibly more larvae in the soil and since I'm not a fan of chemical warfare I went the biological route 😁. Plant is growing nicely, got to peek under her skirt towards the middle of this week and was surprised to see her showing her sex. I decided against any LST (I was too nervous to do too much or maybe I'm lazy

Please correct me if I am wrong but this week (Veg Week 4? Or Flower Week 1??) the plant seemed to really move up in height and flower sites are really starting to develop. I wasn't really sure if I would utilize the netting but I decided to set it up so that as she starts to grow I can at least tuck fan leaves out of the way, and gently push some branches out and let them separate I guess and allow the light better access to other parts of the plant. I reckon on my next grow I would give lst a go as I've seen these plants can handle a lot and aren't as delicate as I thought. Some new growth (leaves) growing in are coming in with light yellow tips.

Just chugging along, I am trying to refer to other diaries and forums to get a feel for how things are looking. I wasn't exactly sure if I'm doing okay or not.

Yellowing of fan leaf tips is more pronounced, at first wasn't sure if this is normal or early stages of some other deficiency. From what I've gather was potentially a nitrogen deficiency. Some lower fan leaves (2) started to lose color and slowly turn yellow - also not sure if this is normal. From reading and things it seem it could be an entirely normal process, as the plant will now start sucking nutrients from this leaves and slowly work it's way up. I am getting a little nervous because I have no previous grows to compare to and so feel like a total amateur (rightfully so) and can only go off of what I see in forums. If anyone takes pity on me, please reach out 😂 to be fair I am having a lot of fun and hopefully learning a lot this run to make improvements for the next time

This week I worked hard to get my ranges in order, and trying to stop what looked like nutrient burn. I cut back on fertilizer and switched to just plain pHed water. As I do this longer, and look at my notes, I can see where I made mistakes a few weeks back and didn't act maybe quick enough to respond! I am trying and have been really fortunate that the plant itself is pretty hardy and forgiving of a newbie mistakes 🙈. Been able to keep the humidity in the tent stable in between 45-50%. Looking back at other weeks, I also now understand the purpose of halving my liquid fertilizer input. The plant does look wild and quite honestly since this is my first grow I did keep everything simple (or was I just lazy??). But looking at things now I can understand why LST is worth the effort and perhaps I could consider light pruning in future. The plant is definitely drinking more and is taking water just about every other day. As of writing this today (14-11-2024) the plant is 54 days old from sprout. This post is a summary from last week, I'm usually a week behind in updating this. Anyway as always I appreciate people just glancing at this and am always open for feedback!! I am willing to learn and improve and I am finding the time I spend involved in this actually quite relaxing and stress free!

No serious hiccups this week. As stated the previous week, I started to get a handle on my ph and this has helped quite a bit. I've had to rearrange the inside of my tent and move the exhaust fan and filter around to allow the light to sit better - a mistake that I know for next time. More notes and hopefully a better base to build from for a future grow. I haven't had any questions but just to clarify on my photos - these are basically Saturday to Saturday a week in arrears. As of posting this I am in real time at day 58 from sprout - yes I know 58 days is 8.2 weeks 🙈 I messed up somewhere in the scheduling of this diary but anyway. Smell has increased, my cold has gone away as well from the last couple of weeks so I can breathe better and am really pleased with the scent when I do check in on the plant which is basically twice a day once early morning and late evening. No LST or defoliating still - just plucked some smaller leaves from close to the base of the plant that had yellowed so they wouldn't sit on top of the soil.

Things are just moving along, smell has become more intense, giving off an orangey/light citrus vibe. I am not too stressed and although as mentioned before earlier in the grow had some hiccups, but for the last couple of weeks have kept things dialed in as best I can. I'm not too worried about checking trichromes or anything yet, as I'm hopeful that I'll see a bit of swelling in the buds which will hopefully coincide with the pistils (stigmas??) also darkening and looking as if they have been sucked into the bud. At least from what I've read then I can start really checking trichromes, on a more regular basis. I am still providing nutrients and I have no idea if a flushing with just plain pHed water is actually a "proven process" since I am unable to compare it to a previous harvest. Although it seems to be a debated topic anyway. As always I am just hoping to use this first experience as a way to improve my next grow!

Nothing new to report. Buds are filling out and pistils are changing. Hopeful in the next couple of weeks to get decent swelling and can then start checking trichromes more regularly. pH is in line this week and all other things seem to be on point. I wish I had acted quicker in correcting issues in earlier weeks. Although I now feel better prepared and probably more comfortable in taking corrective actions quicker for next grow when it rolls around. Very little defoliating done (4 fan leaves in total to just allow better circulation around the base of the plant). Still have a bit to go, but am excited to see how this finishes off.

No particular update, as mentioned for last week. I realized I was underfeeding a bit. Notes taken and will do better next time. The plant is a trooper and with all the mistakes made up until this point, she's still pushing and thankfully making this grow worth it for multiple reasons. Although not pictured as this is last week, but this week there is more yellowing of fan leaves and I am noticing that watering is not needed every other day but every 3rd day. From what I've read, this is a usual behavior as the plant reaches end of life, is this true??

Nothing exceptional to report. Buds seemed to have swollen a bit more with pistils receding. I am glad I have waited another week as I can see the difference in bud size and also in trichrome development. I can't imagine this plant has much more left in the tank. Unfortunately there aren't many other grow diaries (just 1)I could find on this particular seed for comparison. I have removed some fan leaves and if everything seems all right then I am hoping to harvest in a few days. Trying to be patient and just let things ride - I'm like always super hopeful that the next grow will run better as far as how the plant looks through its lifespan. Anyway there's still several weeks before I even start another grow

Happy Harvest Day!

Since this was my first grow - I have nothing to compare this to. Overall I think it was pretty straightforward - learning points all around with this grow and for that I'm pretty happy to have made mistakes and learned from them. And hopefully put the experience I gained towards a second grow which will turn out "better". I ran into some deficiencies later in the grow and early on overfed which in turn made me reluctant to feed more. I feel pretty confident that going forward I'll have a better feel for this. One thing I have realized is that the use of cal-mag is a bit overstated (when I stopped adding it the plant seemed to respond better). I have no proof of this but it seemed to be the case. The plant battled with fungus gnats in the late stages of vegetation and early part of flower. Due to watering issues, from my side. I was hoping to maybe get a few more days out of the grow before harvest (December 21st) but the plant started to produce male organs (is that the right word?). A lot of things going on - I assume plant was stressed and I didn't have many other diaries to compare to for this strain. I was hoping to maybe run one more week, but pulled these all out with tweezers and decided after looking at pistil color and them pulling back into the bud and checking trichromes I decided to harvest. It was really towards the end of the cycle here that I started reading more about VPD etc and realized that here I was also having the plant in a stressful environment the last weeks. On this basis, I will definitely need to read a bit more and in general just learn from my mistakes in order to have a nice run the second time around. I am pleased with what I have, but understand I can do better!

Just a comment here regarding "wet" bud weight - since I chopped the whole plant and hung it the weight there really includes the main stalk etc. so obviously that number isn't accurate (178grams) as after trimming etc the actual weight of the bud that's left will be significantly lower (obviously).
