Finally getting around to trying out my Ripper Seeds I won a year ago! The first Toxic I tried didn't germinate (paper towel method). The next seed I tried quickly split on the side and I could see the taproot bulging out but I couldn't see the tail yet. I decided to just put it in soil with the cracked side down and just let it do its thing. 2 days later I could see the seed had twins!
Day 3 - Going to attempt to separate the twins. Will update when done.
UPDATE: the twins seem to have survived the transplant and are working on their first set of real leaves.
Day 4 - The leaves are very small right now, maybe because of the energy split between the twins? Regardless, they seem to be growing and will be just fine.
Day 5 - Expecting a slow start with the transplant and small leaves but they're still doing their thing.
Day 7 - Still behind as far as where I'd like to be one week in but like I've said, as the leaves get bigger they should catch up.
Day 13 - Still going! Twin 2 seems to be in the lead. They'll probably take longer to get to transplant size, I'd say more like day 20 instead of my usual week 2 transplant.
Day 21 - End of week 3, haven't updated in a while due to work and being sick. They're still chugging along but significantly behind the other plants in the tent planted around the same time. Twin #2 is growing the fastest and seems to be doing something interesting, maybe topped itself? I don't have the heart to kill them so we'll see where we are come flower time.
Week 5
Finally developing some nice structure but I'm concerned the roots system isn't very developed. They seem to absorb water at a much slower rate than the other plants in the tent. Topped both this week.
Day 34 - Moved out of main tent to closet with 600W Mars LED. Sativas in same tent were ready to flower but these ladies could use a bit more veg time. #2 is really filling out after topping.
Day 52 - The twins have been veging out in the closet with 24 hr light. They have a nice structure/even canopies but still very stunted for day 52. I defoliated a bit and that seemed to really help even out the growth.
F04 - Decided to just start flowering these ladies. They did alright in the veg area but they're still growing slow and I don't think the extra veg time would really be worth it. Let's see how this goes!
F10 - Seems like it took a while for flowering to initiate but they're both showing pistils now. Looking healthy otherwise, no yellowing or nutrient issues.
F24 - Putting on some frost but seems like slow development. Still hard to get a good pic of #2 but it looks similar if not a little healthier than #1.
F26 - Finally got some pics of #2.
F30 - Think I've got my weeks messed up, might be ahead by 1
@greengoldgrower, wow it happened to you too! Yeah I separated mine, they were already beginning to wrap around each other. I’d suggest digging them out as carefully as you can and then quickly replanting them in separate pots. I’ve read that the roots will get tangled and the plants can die if they’re too close like that. Mine seem to have survived the transplant. Good luck with your grow!
