Just planted...May the growing commence :-)
The jiffy blocks the seeds are in were pre soaked with tap water and a splash formulex
Pre soaking the rockwool to 5.5 ph and added 20 ml of formulex to give the roots something to munch on.
This is a must to do as the blocks contain lime that can't be processed out during manufacture. If you don't your plants will turn yellow!!!
My bluelab trunchen is flashing 0.6 with added formulex. My plain tap water would flash 0.5 !
I'm just waiting for a few more roots to appear then I'll put these in their 4inch blocks..then wait for roots to appear through the bigger blocks and they will Air trim as they have nothing to grow in to....
When I see fluffy white roots I will sit them on the spreader matt for the roots to grow into...The resaon for this is because I move them into different tent and don't want disturb the roots to much
I have blocked these in bigger blocks as i want to train these. I've seen some really good training techniques on GD. I want to try the low stress tech and fimig
I've used bigger blocks so I have some thing to tie down to....
Using bigger blocks gives me more time to play with as the roots have a bigger block to fill....these will Air trim the same as my other plants in smaller blocks
These have grown quite well in a week compared to last weeks pictures. The roots are just starting to appear out the blocks. The roots will now air trim as they reach the edge of the block...I haven't dipped these blocks in 3 weeks as they hold a shit load of water and it's not warm enough to dry them out quick as it's winter...
The blocks are not dry but i want feed them a weak nutrient solution of formulex so I will only dip the bottom 2 inches of the block
Monday...
Looking health....I have made up a weak nutrient solution of canna aqua A and B as i run out of formulex i have dipped the bottom half of the block again this week to carry on the air trim.....
I think these are about 4 weeks veg not 5 for the size of them...I got a few diaries on the go so getting a bit hectic🤦♂️😂
Wednesday...
Now fim'd all five plants
Monday.....
Moved into flowering tent now and on to a 5ft 50ltr nft tray and tank. They have enough air trimmed roots now.
These have surprised me how they have grown in the last week as i wasn't going to flower them just yet but they are plenty big enough to flower...they've recovered from the fim so hopefully should take off along with all the other branches....
I was going to Lst this lot which is why they're in bigger blocks but I've scraped that idea...I will hst them instead
Friday
I have hst these this morning and removed a few fucking great big shade leaves 😎
These are growing very fast...I can see the difference everyday...I have hst these a couple of times...I find it makes the plant grow even faster...can't wait to see colours come through on the flowers💚💚
Have a done a weekly water change of 50 litres and added food as per shedule above☝️☝️😎
Monday....These are flying along...I can't believe how fast they're growing...this Nft way of growing still amazes me 20 years on....
I have left the same tank of feed in the 50ltr tank and topped it up with half strength feed to keep the Ec the same rather than diluting it with just clean water
Bit difficult getting decent pics until the crop next to it gone but all the plants have grown amazingly well
The size of the shade leaves is rediculace lol
Friday
Now defoliated, Hst and the net pulled down to support them
These are growing like you wouldn't believe. Now I can see a flower I have changed the 50ltr tank of feed from veg to flower.
I'm still stunned at how quick these are growing
Lovely white healthy roots
Changing the 50ltr tank of water for fresh water feed as per shedule above.
Growing superb.
I let ph slip last week as i thought it would be a good idea to bust my £50 ph pen 🤦♂️.
On checking the ph this morning with new pen it was 5.4 :-(....far to low!!
A few leaves were showing signs of a deficiency in just 2 days. The plant at the end with its roots growing off the tray into the water tank is first to suffer if things go wrong
Now I've changed the water as i do on a weekly basis and got myself a new ph pen all is good.
That's a good a thing with this system as you see fuck ups in just 48 hrs and you can correct it instantly
Looking outstanding, I can just see the purple tinge coming through now if u zoom in...buds are getting bigger by the day.
Started flushing a few days ago
well what can I say about these other than....l👀k at the size of those buds😍😍☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️😍😍😍😍💚💚👏👏👏👏👏
the purple is coming though.
they are still flushing with fresh clean water. the rez was changed today for 50 ltrs of clean water.
was struggling to find a bottle big enough for a comparison lol
@@@@@@hydrohippy...I, too am amazed at the NFT method!
I really need to understand a few things better before I give it a go, but next season, I intend to go for it.
What would be really helpful is if in your next empty tent situation where you are starting another run, would be to see your reservoir and tray setup a little better. Like, currently you have some late bloomers and some early bloomers in the same tent.
I will now pick your brain...feel free to ignore me:
Do you have two separate reservoirs, pumps, and trays so you can mix nutes separately for each stage of growth?
Which of the trays do you prefer....the straight linear grooves or the square pattern?
How much liquid do your pumps move per hour?
Once they are well rooted, do you set your pumps on a timer to just douche them every few hours, or is it an "always-on" situation?
Do you ever find that your plants are too heavy for the net to support and need to weigh-down the cubes?
Are the dark cardboard covers you put over your cubes just to prevent them from growing too much algae, or is there another purpose for it?
Thanks man!
@@hydrohippy, Awesome! Thanks man. I'd love to send you a nannycam to install so I can actually watch you work!
If all goes well this year, I'd like to make the transition for my winter grows. But, since I'll have to gear up for two tents at the same time, it's iffy that I'll be able. I already planned on replacing all my COBs, blurples, red panels and QB with another quantum bar light rig before fall, so that will cut deeply into the budget.
Anybody want to buy some gently used lighting gear this summer???😁😎

Just hit me up in chat if you are interested-
@Silverback_Guerilla, you would need 2x Gt424 nft next each other that way you can rotate crops
They measure just under 2ft wide by 4ft long
They're single channel like the ones I use.
I use 2x4ft long ones and 2x5ft long in my flower tents
1 x 4ft in my veg room
@@hydrohippy, i would get that man truly... best part is if you leave the diary up i could show it off to my guests "this piece comes is a hydrohippy RQS purp from 2019. as you can see these purps are frosty as hell" 😹
@@hydrohippy, ok I have turned it down to 75% its a cool tube light with a great inline fan/carbon filter i think somewhere close to 400cfm. There was a little light bleaching i believe as it was at the top of the plant so i dimmed it becuz of the room situation . Thanks
@Homegrown420, Thanks dude.... they do say to much light can be detrimental if to close and in a 4x4 tent you are going to need to put the light as high as you can or you'll fry the plants. You'll also need an industrial size fan and filter to get the heat out!!
@CRiSPrGrow, not sure if I got enough lol....Anytime my friend....just uploaded some porn video for you!!
can you sign a disclaimer as I am not responsible for any underlying health issues you may have after looking at the video 😁😂
Super wow.... 👊🏼😊👍🏼, looks awesome.
When I grow up... I want to be able to produce buds just like you. The 1.75ml coke bottle is a great scale indicator. 👍🏼
@@hydrohippy, i though it was pm meter for CO2, then i realized it was rock wool into water 😅
Poor phone, you won't make it bigger even with good nutrient 😂
@Dedon, That is made by bluelab they cost around £75...it is a valuable tool for hydro especially for beginner's ...to be honest i dont need it now as I know canna food inside out after so long
I have dropped my phone in the water twice now taking pictures to close to water 🤣😂🤣😂
