After a bad experience with GYO Seedbank wherein I sent a wire transfer that was supposedly never received, I figured I'd give this guy at ilovegrowingmarijuana.com and his beans a try. The seeds arrived 15 days from the day I placed the order and in perfectly discreet packaging. In the order confirmation email, I was directed to a PDF guide to germination instructing me to use Miracle Grow soil - which I DID NOT do.
Started out soaking 5 seeds in Reverse Osmosis water ph 6.0 for 24 hours, then planted them in wet Happy Frog Potting Soil in holes 1/2" - 3/4" deep. I set a 54-Watt T5 2" above the soil as instructed. 5 of 5 seeds have sprouted first and secondary leaves 84 hours after planting - yay! Just moved the light up a few inches (~ 6 inches above the soil) to allow airflow between seedlings and light to control temperature.
Day 8. Walked into the nursery today to find a switched breaker (F*%&!) so the A/C was off for nearly 48 hours, bringing the room temp up to 84.4F but these younglings are still looking great.
Babies are looking great. Raising the lights up to make space for air flow in the first week has caused these little ladies to reach high before leafing, but the base stalk should be nice and hardy as a result. Moved them up under a bigger T5 unit after taking these photos and they've corrected their growth to straight vertical overnight. Started on a tiny dose of the Superthrive (3 drops per gallon). All is well in the nursery!
Had some issues in the last week with J4 & J5 showing unidentified nutrient deficiency. Started giving them 1 drop of BioThrive Grow per 5oz water, and they perked back up. Otherwise all good, the Jack Herer babies are looking great, developing good roots, and got transplanted today. Moved from the T5's to the 600W HPS lights.
Nightmare trying to keep everything in temp range during the massive heat wave we've been having. Nice growth, though. Decided to do some quick early pruning on Jacks 1 & 2.
Day 56. Temps are finally under control as of about 3 days ago, and these lovely ladies have another ~3 weeks of veg left before they flip to stay on schedule with the rest of the garden.
Jack 1 responded so well to last week's heavy topping of the main stalk that all the other Jacks were topped as well.
Jack 2 seems to have slowed in growth since last week's early stripping, but her stalk and branches are significantly stronger than her sisters'. The stunting may actually work out since head space in so limited in the flowering room and these girls still have another 3 weeks in veg before flipping. I'm already nervous about Jack 1 getting too tall.
The Jacks are taking a gallon of water and nutes per plant every other day. RO water takes Cal-Mag Plus every time, and the BioThrive/FoxFarm/AgeOld are on a full cycle rotation. Planning to use these same nute lines into flower.
With three weeks left to go before flower and these girls being as bushy and robust as they are, training will begin in the next few days. This garden isn't scrog-net capable, so the jacks will get trained to tomato cages after some sucker-stripping.
I've been really impressed by these plants' ability to thrive under such chaotic conditions. It's been over 90 degrees in the nursery on several occasions in the last few weeks, whole rooms have gotten fully reconfigured and shifted around, lights have moved, plants have moved, the water system has broken down and plants have gone without water when they were clearly very thirsty... Save a slight Nitrogen deficiency which should be addressed this week when nutes go up to full dosages, these plants are strong as little oxen. Asymmetric reaching and growing, I'm sure, is a result of the chaos, and nothing a few weeks in the training room can't fix now that conditions have stabilized.
Day 71
Babes are doing too well. Pruned up all the petticoats. Flipping to flower in 1 week.
Decided to keep Jack #1 as a mother for a round of clones next season, so pruned her bushy.
Jack #2, (topped and stripped back in week 6) has the most even canopy and steady growth of the bunch.
Pretty obvious these girls are too big for their britches, but they're finally flipping to flower this week, so stripped the undergrowth and tied everything down to the chicken wire. Will flip to 12/12 light schedule in a day or so after some recovery time.
J1 is being kept as a mother, so last time these girls were pruned, she was topped on almost all branches. New growth pulled Nitrogen, which is why she's showing Nitrogen deficiency when her sisters who were stripped bottom-up are all good.
Hello bro
I've read that you had issues with seeds Bank... you must know that trusted seeds Bank or rare.
I must tell you that Jack Herer is Registered under Sensi Seeds Bank , it is a very complex poly hybrid.
Jack Herer Feminised and Autoflowering seeds has never been processed, that means you can only find regular seeds from this strain at $190 for 10 seeds . So when I see these seeds at $79 for 10 Feminised seeds and copycats Sensi Seeds general informations, you can send an email to Robert Bergman asking what's the genetic mapping and where did the "P" strains comes from to make these fem. seeds 😄
@RunningHorse, Humboldt, The Cali Connection, DJ short Seeds, GG Strains .... in USA
Sensi Seeds, Serious Seeds, T.H Seeds, Royal Queen Seeds, Amsterdam Genetics, White Label Seeds, Dinafem, Mephisto... in EU
@JUNGLE_B4RNS, So true!!!!!!! Too many people don't understand how people are stealing genetics and ruining them. Thanks for letting this guy know. I was just about to say something.
Nice strain choice! Love it! Good luck! 👍🏻
...Strange bro I find gyo more professional then many seed banks, hope the experience is better next time if you choose to retry them...
@JUNGLE_B4RNS, Been using Botanicare Cal Mag +Iron all along with reverse osmosis water. Some of my plants in flower right now are showing Mag/Iron deficient, so I bumped them up to 10ml/gal and adjusted pH. May do the same for these.
Plant look nice. We just harvested our Jack and we're lucky enough to get back from her for the TLC we gave her - 6 dried and jarred ozs. Can truely say that it is an amazing plant to grow. We have a clone from her that is a beast right now. It drinks 3/4 of a gallon of nutrient solution a day. Good luck and happy growing.and we will keep checking in.
