Hi guys. This is my first grow.
I am running 3 AUTO plants in 3 gallon fabric pots using jacks magic and perlight (70/30).
The tent is 1.2 x 1.2 x 1.6 in a spare bedroom so the climate is stable.
Carbon filter, fan, humidifier and heater all in the tent. The heater and humidifier are automatic and the environment is kept around 23 degrees and around 55% humidity.
Passive air intake.
The seeds I am growing are;
Gorilla infested gelato by dr krippling.
Mango blueberry bubble (free) by fast buds.
Zkittlez auto by fastbuds.
I was intending to start a diary from the off but I have struggled for time. Looks like I do need some help here so I have decided to put this together.
Grow started fantastic running into no issues.
The gorilla and zkittlez were the biggest plants.
I introduced nutes in week 2 at 1/4 strength.
I have been gently lsting all plants from the start.
As you can see from the images I have ran into a few issues in the past week.
This started when the lower canopy started to turn brown and die starting from the tips (bigger fan leaves) on all 3 plants but mostly the zkittlez. I gave them all a little water and introduced topmax and bio bloom at half strength as it seemed as if this was a deficiency.
I then started to see small irregular areas of damage. Again I have tried to show this in the images. It was like there were some form of pests but after hours in the tent checking with a microscope I feel pretty confident there aren’t any. As a precaution I did make a very week fairy liquid solution and sprayed on the plants. This was washed off around 3 hours later.
I read that this could have been caused by lack of airflow around the plants so I introduced a second fan into the room by my passive air intake set on a weak oscillating setting (this was on Wednesday the 31st).
Since then it seems the plants have been recovering although the zkittlez may have suffered a little more as growth seemed to have slowed although she now seems to be coming back.
The main issue now is this almost black, deformed growth I have on the gorilla infested gelato plants. This is shown in the last photo.
Could these be nute burn? I haven’t been heavy handed so I doubt this or could this be a nute deficiency or maybe my light is too close? Or it could be wind burn?
I was thinking to flush the plants or just water with pure water and check the run off ph to see if they need flushing. What do you think?
I am a bit lost as to where to go next with these girls so would appreciate any advice.
Sorry if that was a long read and I hope I have been clear. This is my first grow so these issues were bound to arise.
Hi guys,
First off I just want to say thanks to everyone that has commented.
After the issues last week I flushed all 3 plants on Sunday.
They then all had around 500ml of nutrient fed water on Monday which actually gave a little run off. I also added a fan down by the passive inlet pointed to push some more air around the tent and this has worked well.
Run off was just about hitting the 6.0 mark when I flushed so I am watering at 6.8.
I now have a tds meter so will be adding this in when I do water next.
The plants have been bouncing back well as you can see from the photos. The Zkittlez has a new lease of life and has stretched out well.
The black twisted growth on the blueberry mango and gorilla infested gelato stopped and the plants seem to have recovered well but do look maybe a little hungry? Dark green growth which made me think nitrogen but then they are recovering from that weird growth from the lockout so this could be part of this recovery.
I will keep an eye judge how they react from the next watering.
I am really happy with the lst. It looks as though I am going to have a nice even canopy so fingers crossed for some nice buds.
I am waiting for the soil to dry out a little more before the next water/feed. This should be Sunday by the feel of the soil. I am sticking to a wet/dry cycle.
It has been a little hot (around 25 degrees) so I have now got an inlet fan that I will be installing on the weekend to pull more fresh air in. I can then get rid of the extra fan I have on the floor by the passive intake.
The humidifier has hardly kicked in so I think it is time to introduce my dehumidifier within the next week or so. I’ll start by putting it on for an hour every 4 hours and see how that effects the environment.
If anyone has any recommendations please comment and let me know.
Thanks everyone :)
Hey everyone, so the week started off with the gorilla showing unusual growth from the stunting. They also seemed hungry so were fed With a higher bloom amount, up to 1ml/l (along with the other 2) Tiny branches with small leaves were stopping any real side stemming so I decided on a slight defoliation. From the latest pictures this seems to have helped. There is still some weird growth which could be caused by a bit of wind burn.
The other 2 have grown well. The Zkittlez does seem to have slowed a little in terms of stretching and the red stemming has made me think I need to up the nutes slightly more and they will all get a feeding later tonight.
They are however showing some nice flowering sites so I am hopeful for some nice buds.
The blueberry continues to impress for a free seed I can’t complain. Just waiting for her to start shooting some real pistols. I think she will be the highest yeilder.
The fan I got for my intake is too powerful and would cause negative pressure so I am going to stick to the passive intake vents on this grow.
I have stopped phing as I think this has what lead to my lockout in the first place and so good so far. I read that I shouldn’t be using ph down and if I really need to this should be done naturally with lime ect. There seems to be a lot of disagreement on this one so I will see where the grow takes me but I may invest in some lime if I really need to moving forward.
Let me know if you use chemical ph down in your soil? I have read this can kill all the ‘good stuff’ so to speak in the soil and Biobizz nutes.
I’m still learning so any help is welcome!
Thank you :)
All in all looking happy.
Stats above are based on Zkittlez.
I’ve tried to get more natural lighting for pics this time round.
Are all in flower the mango bubble has stretched to about 18” after all the lst and the canopy is looking nice and even.
THE zkittles is starting to show little crystals in and around the leaves closest to the forming bid sites.
Upped the nutes to meet the Biobizz schedule after some heavy research online and the plants aren’t showing any of the previous issues.
Not phing as Biobizz say this can be detrimental and is not needed.
I am having some
Issues with humidity. I have introduced a small dehumidifier to try and help but it hasn’t done too much. I am trying to bid on a. Larger 12L unit or I may have to upgrade my outlet?
Not too worried now but I will be in a few weeks when the buds are starting to become fully formed.
Apologies for the lack of updates. I have been away and really busy so I have forgot to update this.
So, I'm sure this will come with experience but I am bothered by the discolouration at this stage and the dying leaves I seem to be struggling with. Particularly on the zkittlez. You can see from the photos. I thought this was root rot but they have been given more than enough time to air out between watering (once every 3 days).
Maybe this is nute burn but again this is my first run so I am unsure.
The last couple of weeks have been interesting. The most interesting moment was when I discovered the bend in my outake ducting was collecting water and this was in turn pouring back into the tent. Dangerous stuff.
Anyhow, without making this too long..
The zkittlez I will probably feed for another week before flushing for 2 weeks. I will keep an eye on her progression but was hoping these buds to have formed thicker by now.
The gorilla looks and smells great.
The mango again looks fantastic and is easily the biggest plant in the tent. These 2 look like they could yield like 5 x more than the zkittlez but only time will tell.
I will.make sure any future diaries have weekly updates as I'm sure it is frustrating if you were trying to follow the grow.
I have a much better camera now so will try to improve on image quality and setting as well as adding weekly videos.
If you can help by pointing anything obvious out that would be a huge help.
Thank you all.
Hi everyone,
Buds are swelling nicely on the blueberry and gorilla. The gorilla is starting to smell amazing.
I am hoping that all 3 will have been cut down within the next 4 weeks.
The zkittlez hasn't seemed to have done too much and I have kind of given up on the buds fattening up at this stage.. I'm putting it down to this being my first run and the fact that I should have raised them closer to the light earlier as the others were so much taller.
I'm thinking to feed the zkittlez plain water for the next 2 weeks to flush before harvest and feed the other 2 for a further 2 weeks before doing the same. what do you think?
I'm going to have to make a drying box for outside the tent and fix this to the tent via ducting to create an environemnt for the zkittlez to dry. Does anyone have any advice here seeing as my tent is still going to be in use?
Thanks for reading :)
So this week has been interesting for the gorilla and blueberry.
They are packing on some weight especially the gorilla the buds are getting super fat.
The zkittlez has been a lost cause for a while now. I decided to cut this down once I started to notice some amber trichs. I'll update and put in a harvest once this is dried and trimmed in about 7 days. There wont be much there. Will mainly make hash from this and edibles. My screens are on the way to make some nice sift.
I genuinely think I'll be lucky to pull 3.5gs of dried smokable bud.
I am now flushing with plain water both of the remaining plants and I am hoping the gorilla can hold off for another 2 weeks so I can cut these both down at the same time and utilize my tent for drying.
These should more than make up for the disappointment of the zkittlez. I had 3 oz in my head as a good yield from this first grow and I'm confident I could make 4 by the looks of these plants.
There is some nice fading appearing on the blueberry leaves as you can hopefully tell but they defo need to fatten up. Trichs are half cloudy on both plants maybe slightly further on the gorilla.
Was essentially the runt of the litter. Seemed to bounce back and flourish and was ahead of the others but I'm sure there were many mistakes due to my inexperience. This was my first grow and I have a few more zkittlez seeds to try after my next grow. Tastes slightly sweet and creamy but lacking power.
So this one didn't go to well.
The plant started foxtailing. Badly and it just continued to seem to get worse as the grow went on. You can see from the nugs this wasnt a great grow BUT, this is my first grow and the weed tastes okay and gets my stoned so I cant complain and I was actually surprised at the yield I thought it would be a lot less.
Will run these again as true zkittlez is one of my favourite strains along side gelato 41.
Dry trimmed over screens to collect some sift which turned out lovely.
Cured in jars for 2 weeks after a 7 day dry and it has been my percy for the last few days and this should last until the others are ready!
These 2 are now in auto pilot.
Just entering the second week of flush and these girls will get the cut on the weekend.
Buds are fattening nicely on the blueberry and the trichs actually look further developed than on the gorilla.
Both should be showing nice amounts of amber by the weekend with the blueberry already showing 5-10 percent.
So excited to finish these off and hang these to dry.
Judging that I ended up yielding 17g of smokable weed from the zkittlez (will add a seperate update) I am eager to see what I yield.
The plants are falling and most of the big buds have been tied up as they were all over the place.
Let me know what you think in the comments and if anyone has any tips they are welcomed.
Planning to turn the lights off in the next couple of days for 3 days of darkness.
Until the harvest!
Deceded to cut! Perhaps a little prematurely but I was seeing cloudy and some amber so decided to pull the trigger. First grow and all so hopefully only up from here!
Not much to note apart from the buds fattening up and further fading in the leaves as expected.
I dropped the temp a bit and they spent their final 48 hours in darkness. Literally just going off what I have read and I will have nothing to compare this to as this is my first grow!
Very happy with what i see and I am now hanging the plants whole. I am expecting some nice clean smoke as these were flushed for their final 3 weeks.
Hoping for a 7-10 day dry and then into jars for curing after trimming over screens
Will update harvest for all 3 plants once this stage is complete with dry weights.
Thanks to all that have commented and I will be planting 4 mephisto seeds from a mystery pack once the tent is free.
Overall I am more than happy with this plant.
One of 3 strains and this was my first grow so also happy with the yield.
The buds are still curing. I am giving them a full 3 weeks before I dig in.
Nice big dense nugs. As you can see. It's a heavy stone.
I trimmed over screens again here and collected some lovely stuff that is lasting me a while. Just a little sprinkle in the joint knocks me silly. This is a mixture of both final strains though.
Thanks for all your comments and support :) uploading my mephisto mystery grow shortly.
Week 1 is now complete :).
This plant was an absolute beast.
Seeing as this was my first grow the yield has again surprised me. I can now finally be self sufficient :)
No real issues with this plant at all and I could have let this go a few weeks longer but I was being impatient and wanted to plant some mephisto mystery seeds.
Defo packs a punch! Will taste great after the 3 week cure. I will tuck in then.
Update for myphisto mystery coming in the next day or so.
Thanks everyone for all the likes and comments!
Hey there! Thanks for choosing to grow with us!
I had a look over your diary and saw you were having some issues, but it seems like you have everything under control now with your Zkittlez =)
We will follow along to see how it goes from here, if you need anything let us know!! 💚
Cool, The hard water issues killed me my first grow. A TDS meter will help you a lot too 😬 Shouldn't you be about ready for an up date here 😬 I am headed up to do a final one on mine. I will tag you over there. This one came out pretty nice
I got the ro buddie. The one in the link. I make 5 gallons. Then mix it 50/50 with tap water. That makes me 10 gallons that way and drops my ppms to where I need them. This system will save you a lot and let you make it at home where you can relax or do other things while it works. It takes me about 2 hours and 10 minutes to make 5 gallons. You can get the 100 gallon one which is faster. just leaves the water with a little higher ppm. My tap is 535 ppm so I needed to get the water as pure as I could. It comes out at .0007 now. I bought a couple of the water bottles you would use for a water cooler from walmart and fill them. If you are going to mix with tap water. You will need at least 2 of them.

@justright, cheers for this.
I might have to invest in one next month. I have also picked up a tds meter so fingers crossed I should be able to keep these babies stable.
i might be wrong but, the discoloring in the lower leafs looks like nut burn.
the missing parts of your plants i think has been food for someone, either you see or you dont, because size of the bugs, photoperiod
of the bugs hehe, also i personally think humidity should allways stay bit low, specially when using leds to prevent mold and shit.
i tried the led out, spent close to 350£ on lights only to go back to my hid 400watt couple weeks later...
but dude if it continues flush em, but make sure its hot after..
hope that helps any.. good luck man, if this was me! i would not even care.. just tidy up to get a clean overview, look at the holes if they are getting more and bigger
@NorthernKnight, thanks for the reply.
I thought bugs straight away but have even gone through the plants at 30x zoom and could find no trace.
I’ll lower the humidity to 45%.
I watered with CalMag 0.5 per ml and plain phd water at 6.5 yesterday and run of was coming in just under 5.5 so I’m thinking I’ll need to give them all a good flush?
Thanks for the advice.
I like your attitude. 😎👍🏼. And I'm real glad you got some buds to smoke. Lots of good knowledgeable growers on this site who are happy to assist and teach.
Best 🍀 on your next. 😀
It looks like you have things under control now. I didn't know I could add videos in here. Now I am in trouble lol You have some nice plants started there
Hello. I have never heard of the grow medium you are in. So I can't say a lot for sure. If these were mine. I would first make sure my ph was in range. I would up the amount of cal mag I was using. Also, do you know the ppm of the water you are using/ Is it RO or tap water? I grow autos as well and ran into a lot of similar problems when i started growing. I my self grow in coco coir. It is possible you are feeding a touch to heavy for only being a couple weeks old. I have seen leaves like that before from fungus gnats. I would focus on getting every thing in order before heading there. The fungus gnats, if you had them, are easy to get rid of with just soap and water. or that has been my experience with them.
@justright, thanks for the reply.
Lots of good reviews on the medium on uk420 and local garden centres had it in stock.
I’m using tap water.
I thought bugs straight away so did spray with soapy water before cleaning off as a precaution.
I watered with CalMag 0.5 per ml and plain phd tap water at 6.5 yesterday and run of was coming in just under 5.5 so I’m thinking I’ll need to give them all a good flush as I may have caused a lockout?
Or am I good to water at a higher ph when they next need watering and leave the soil to balance out this way?
Thanks for the advice.
@justright, I did a flush earlier on so we shall see how they bounce back. The ph of the run off took a while to get up to 6 so I’m hoping that was the issue.
I don’t have a Ppm meter, I do need to invest one. I do however know the water in my area sits at 287 ppm which is high.
Are you buying your RO or have you got a home unit?
@Char23, If it were me. I would try watering/feeding like normal for at least 3 days and see where that takes you. I have done the raise the ph up hoping to get it in line. It just caused more issues. I would try that before flushing. Do you know what the ppm is for your water straight from the tap. I ran into most of my issues on my first grow with to hard of water. I now mix 50% RO and 50% tap water. It is working out fine. My tap is 335ppm here. So real hard.
Holding out on updating the harvest for the gorilla and blueberry simply because I have not smoked any yet as they have only been curing since Sunday. I will upload these In a couple of weeks. All pics ect are ready to go I just dont want to upload without filling in the relevant info!
Let's just say I cleared my target and I am now sitting on around 60gs of gorilla and 83gs of the blueberry!
Forgot to add I am running a visparspectra 600w LED.
I have lightly defoliated the most effected leaves, mostly on the zkittlez.
I am watering until slight run off and they have seemed thirsty again within 5 days. The zkittlez did seem to struggle to take water in comparison to the others for a couple of days at the start of this week.
