Germination
10mo ago
bauergrows As recommended by the breeder, I'm germinating directly in the soil. I will be out of town for a week, so I'm using a straightforward system: small pots (5cm) with a cotton wick in the base that goes on top of a jar with water at 6.5PH. Light is set at 62cm from the soil, dimmer set to 50% (SF1000D) The seedlings would then be transplanted directly into a 56L pot with Biobizz light mix + mycorrhizae in the small area where the seedlings will be planted and super soil prepared with Flooragaard professional organic grow mix, worm humus, compost, gypsum, and coco coir.

bauergrows They germinated in small pots with cotton wick irrigation for 10 days. I'm impressed that the 3 grew to the same size, all healthy. It's the first time I seen such a consistent expression of the seeds. They were transplanted into the final 56L pot.

bauergrows Near to flipping time. I want to finish this growth as early as possible and having not much space, it's time for them to flip to 12/12. I found thrips and some mites (not sure which kind). Fungust gnats are unbearable. Treated again with Nematodes and ordered some DE in case I need a more drastic solution. Plants are growing fast and leaves are super thick. I'm going for a trip until Feb 3rd so I will flip today. Treated with neem oil (2ml/L) spray.

bauergrows I found them like this after leaving them 4 days by their own :) Wonderful structure and very dense foliage. Can't see more than a few signs of thrip damage but things are under control. Fungus gnats on the other side are going crazy again, I will have to apply DE. I've replied preventive Neem oil (2ml / 1l) and tomorrow I might add some DE. Today 2 plants already showed their sex and there is a male who unfortunately had to be chopped (see pic for admire the beautiful plant structure). I've chopped it, heated it in the oven for some minutes to kill possible spores and insect eggs, and spread the chopped plant back on the top of the soil. And for the second plant left, I think it's a female but I still can't confirm with precision (crossing fingers).

bauergrows This is oficially my second week after flipping. Small colas started to pop up. I had to tuck the bigger fan leaves cause they were blocking them and they began to look pale and weak. I'm not sure yet which I want to keep, but I'm leaving them all for now cause I still found some thrips going around despite using fresh neem oil solution sprayed every 2 or 3 days. I hope they go away after my intensive manual care and the preventive action of neem oil and diatomaceous earth. Same for the fungus gnats. They have not reduced significantly since I've used diatomaceous earth so I've decided to diversify my approach and bought some BTI tabs for watering: they are supposed to be very effective not only against mosquito larvae but also against other 'bad insects' larvae as well.

bauergrows Ladies had a great start to the week! Yesterday I did some defoliation following some lollipoping-ish approach. The plant is rather short and the lower branches are already quite long, so I'm still wondering if I should keep them instead of leaving only what's in the upper half. Let's see how crowded it gets next week to decide. I've cut every fan leaf in branches pointing inwards, damaged leaves, and the little bud nodes under the half of each branch. leaf I've watered 2L with Silica and BioBloom first (Bio bloom from Biobizz 'just in case' they get a bit hungry. It's not going to have a big impact though.) Then 2 more litters after 15mins with BTI (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B002M36N22?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title). Half a tab dissolved in the 2 lts of water.

bauergrows Not much to add. I've done some extra defoliation in the lower parts, BTI again to control fungus gnats (which seem to be reduced, probably as effect of both DE and BTI).

bauergrows Not a massive grow this week, but definitely more frosty. One plant is frost than the other, I hope it's not because of some soil imbalance.

bauergrows They are getting there. One of them is still not as covered in trichomes as the other one, but its pistils are more brown than the other. Let's see how they both look next week :)

Week 16. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!
Rated
8/10

This Mandala Seeds plant proved to be extremely easy to grow, almost as if it took care of itself. Both phenotypes were very similar, with large (I mean really large), healthy leaves and a robust structure with short internode spacing. It showed remarkable tolerance to minor mistakes, with no noticeable deficiencies or issues throughout the vegetative stage. Upon switching the light cycle to 12/12, flowering began promptly. Overall, growth was smooth, predictable, and worry-free, making it an ideal choice for growers seeking a low-maintenance, forgiving cultivar. The aroma is subtle and well-balanced, with dominant notes of overripe/mature orange, warm resin, a slight earthy undertone, and a hint of pine/conifer. The scent is noticeable but not overwhelming. The high is gentle and relaxing—perfect for a wake-and-bake or for enhancing a music-listening session. By today’s standards, I would rate the potency as medium to low. Aroma sensorial analysis: intensity is mild to moderate, main family is fruity-spicy, dominant notes are overripe/mature orange, warm resin, subtle earthy undertone, and faint pine/conifer, evolution is from an initial sweet citrus to something rounder, darker, and resinous. The coniferous undertone is subtle, well-integrated, and complements the citrus rather than overpowering it.
