Week 5. Day 30...Both plants are very bushy and their internodes are very close together. I have been tucking the leafs under to try and get more light in. I raised my light back up to 30” and started to drop my temperature down from 78-80 during the day to 70-71 at night to try and stretch them out a bit. They are still just 5” tall and the leaves are so tight that some are deforming. Chrystal 2 was so bushy the leaves are not getting any light below so I tied her top up for the day so the lower leaves have some light. 😃 Update.....Day 34 After some positive encouragement from The Bud Whisperer I thought I would do an experiment. I bent Chrystal 2 over and took off some leaves that were blocking the light. Now she is 4” tall. Chrystal 1, I top and defoliated all the inner leaves so the center can get some light. 😎 Thanks to all of you for your kind support 👏👍

Grow Questions

I am a new grower trying to grow Chrystal by Nirvana. I have Phlizon 900w. LED Veg. lights going in a 3x3x5 tent and 6 plants. Temp is 78 degrees and humidity is 55% , ph with and without Nutrients is 6.2. Over the last few weeks I have brought the light down from 36" to 21" above the canape. I topped at the 5th. node and my plants are going into week 4 with no shock. They are only 4.5 inches tall in a 5 gal. cloth pot. and 3.5 gal. plastic pot. Do they need more light? Any suggestions? Is it OK? Thanks so much for all your help😗

As far as I’m concerned, everything is pretty much exactly where you want it. Don’t believe there’s any issues and she’s growing the way she should be. Expect that you won’t see as much advanced growth after topping - the plant will need a few days to a week to recover👍

@BazingaGirl, Yo! Been following along and all looks good and healthy dude. Hope ur not stressing over it. These actually remind me of my big bud grow - check weeks one to five and you’ll see it’s pretty similar to what I’m about to suggest. First off - you’re in veg. With a photoperiod and are topping/fimming so I assume ur going about 8 weeks before flower??? If so the good News is that there isn’t much you can do wrong at this point. If you’re looking to spread em out flatter and bushier with more branching then I would start by removing a few of the biggest fan leaves and bending her over on a slight angle. When I say a few fan leaves I mean no more than necessary to get some additional light exposure to the lower growth nodes. And don’t worry about some leaves dragging in the dirt - it happens. Now regarding the deformed leaves - this also happened with my big bud grow when it got excessively cramped - is what it is and you want to spread out the plant and expose the stem as much as possible with lst/tie downs if you can. I’ve seen ponytailing (what you’re doing) a few times but never really bothered with it myself because it inhibits growth of the top for the sake of the bottom. That said, I’m also wondering if the leaf deformity is on the plant that you fimm’d??? If it is then it’s likely that the deformity you’re seeing is the result of this. You tend to get some weird leaf growth after a fim - it’s one of the nuances of that technique. Otherwise, it’s just the branches fighting with each other to pick up the available light. Hope it helps and if you need any more clarification hit me back anytime👍👊😎

@BazingaGirl, no prob. And all good. Appreciate the likes and interest in mine as well. Every one I do is an attempt to impart the very knowledge and experience I’ve gained from others here so it’s nice when it’s received well by a new grow addict! Slow and steady is always best - bend er lightly and little bits at a time every day or two to keep er down and the main stem exposed to ur grow light. In time it gets less stressful and experience is always the best teacher. As I said before - you can do a lot without stressing her when she’s in veg. It’s during flower that the plant will become more finicky and you gotta be a little more careful. Good luck - I’ll be watchn😉👊

@TheBudWhisperer, I really appreciate your time and help watching and coaxing me along. Yes I am freaking out a little, I don’t want to hurt my babies. I have been examining everything you do on your grows and will try and get those stems bent some. I did pinch the stems today and they are very firm so I will let the plants dry out one more day before trying. I will go slow and easy. Today I will take a few leaves, and tomorrow after they have dried out some more I will bend them. I find it fascinating that I have 4 of the same pheno and one of them looks nothing like the others. I am not journaling that one. Thanks again for all your help.😀😎

Hey, hey just took a good look at things and glad to hear you’re off to the races! Welcome to the wonderful world of indoor, schedule 1 substance cultivation (if u live the states anyway)! Couple things to lend to the convo first - topping usually takes place at roughly the 5th node but is always dependent on how well and healthy the plant is growing too. Some do it at the 3rd, some at the 4th etc. They’re Mainly tempting fate to speed up veg. Time. If ur not in a rush then the 5th node is just fine👌. Second - saw you burned out a few beans at seed. Might I ask as to what method you’re using to germ? Nirvana is pretty well known as a breeder and I’ve had literally a 100% germ. Rate using the paper towel method. Now not every seedling survived after but they all certainly sprouted.👍 gonna keep a follow on this one and love the tent🤙. Good luck with the grow!

@TheBudWhisperer, I told Nirvana about it and they gave me a $15 credit towards new seeds. They should arrive shortly. I already have 5 plants under a 900w. LED. Not sure if I can fit any more in the tent. I am also trying to grow enough for a friend fighting cancer, so I am on a missioin.

@BazingaGirl,@TheBudWhisperer X2 sounds like a bad batch I do pretty much the same method. Cup of R/O water tho. and I put them under a Pyramid lol it works great. Sometimes they will pop in like 12hrs! only thing different is I dont use paper towel i go straight to rapid rooters. Paper towel method works great, I just find i like the rooters.

@BazingaGirl, hmmmm 🤔 - odd. That’s pretty much how I do it too. Only diff. Is that I use regular tap water and only soak em for about 8 hours and/or until you can push em down and they sink to the bottom of the container. Then it’s into the towels and away in a dark cupboard until the tap roots pop.... could be you just got a bad batch I guess.

Looking Great!!👍 Keep it up. You will most likely like the House & Garden line, I have been running them for like 5 years now and love their stuff. One big plus is they are not super concentrated so its a little harder to burn the plants with over feeding, not saying it can't happen but their feeding schedule is pretty accurate and sometimes you may find that you need a little more than they recommended when the strain/plant is a heavy feeder. Happy Growing. Positive vibes going your way! HoffGuyy

@BazingaGirl, it should be enough light. but if you feel like the plants want more or you feel like you want to give them more go for it!! they will grow bigger so really it is all up to you/ what the plants want you kno. if you do add the extra light you may need to train more but i think you should be good in that size of a tent.👌 yea Cannabis is such an amazing plant and theres always something new to learn from it😊

@Thee_HoffGuyy, I will look at your diaries closely. It seems like all I do these days is study about Cannabis. I find it fascinating. My goal is to keep all of my plants the same size. I have 5 going all together right now. Since my Northern Lights didn't come up, I started the last few seeds I had 2 weeks later. What do you think about 5 plants in a 3x3x5 tent under 900W? Enough light? I do have another 600w. I can hang in the tent if necessary. Thanks for all the help.😃

@HerbalEdu, I really appreciate you saying that. Poor little babies are only 3.5 inches high and on their 5th node. I still think I am going to top them. What do you think?
