The diaries are underway for this seasons grow.
I had a shaky start after transplanting them and burning em a bit.
This cost me about 2 weeks of growth, but they have all recovered.
A few hairs already appearing on sherbet. Great growing weather lately too.
As an experiment I put a full fresh caught saltwater pike in the soils of the Jacks only.
This might be having an effect as they have both overtaken the others in size and vigour.
Merry Christmas to all my mates wolf, barney, med, easy and the rest 🍻
Week 9
Plants are loving some awesome weather.
Blue sunset has heaps of pre’s already. Looks like a small one but hopefully an early finish.
Sour D is cruising along, and the jacks are taking off.
Good signs this year
Week 10
The garden is cranking with most plants stretching as the days slowly get shorter.
Summer solstice was 23/12/24. Although the changes in my area’s day length are slight, it’s enough.
All plants have at least some pistils and are entering flower.
Sunset sherbet - Smaller but further into flower and now on bloom feed, a nice early finish.
Sour D - Great looking plant producing bright purple stems on leaves in recent days.
Jacks - 2 distinctly different types, both so healthy and both surpassing the others in size.
It’s lift off in the garden!
Blue sunset - Lining up with buds. On full bloom feed now.
Sour D - Also lining up nicely and showing its final shape. Good size.
Jacks - Just pumping. If I’m honest it’s getting a bit out of hand. I can’t afford too much more vertical growth because of my fence height. With no buds yet, it’s not showing signs of slowing down anytime soon
Week 12
Going nicely. Healthy and continuing to grow, although most have topped out thankfully.
Only the Jack 2 seems to be unstoppable!
Plenty of heat and humidity this week, a great combo.
This weekend was our national day Australia Day.
We have a holiday and do Aussie things like bbq and beach with friends. Maybe some fishing for me.
Happy Australia Day 🇦🇺
Week 13
The garden is charging.
All but the biggest Jack are budding and now on full bloom feeds.
The big Jack just takes it’s sweet time, it’s bigger than me now,
I dug a hole and sunk the pot into it, now it’s almost at the top of the fence again.
I’m feeding it bloom in the hope this insane stretch will stop
Week 14
Plants are absolutely pumping.
Sunset - filling up with sweet smelling heads, won’t be too far away.
Sour D - putting on some nice weight and just a tiny bit of smell.
Jack 2 - massive king head like a Christmas tree, so healthy.
Jack 1 - just a tower. Once again tonight I dug it out and buried it even deeper to keep under the fence!
Jack 1 is in a soft pot, and when I went to dig the hole deeper, I had to yank it out as the roots had grown through the pot and taken hold in the garden bed!! Just an amazing plant, I really hope like hell I can get it through
Week 15
It’s getting to the stage where they are hypnotising to look at!
Really taking shape and filling up well.
No hassles other than quite a few yellowing leaves at the bottom of both jacks.
I’m not too concerned about this.
Blue Sunset is about done thank goodness cos I’m out of supply, so right in the Nic of time!
Week 16.
Great weather this week.
All the plants are doing well.
Some yellow leaves continue, I think I was under feeding.
I haven’t had them this big before so not used to them feeding so much!
Week 17
Cyclone Alfred is on the way, due in about 3 days.
We’re already feeling strong winds and showers which are set to get much stronger.
3 plants are in the shed now as they are at risk of moulding out.
I’m gonna try and move em out whenever there’s any small breaks in the weather.
Ultimate Jack is gonna ride it out another day before I might need to move it. It’s too tall for the shed.
This will be the most challenging week ever for me, not to mention the in laws visit afterwards!
Stressing me out cos they are pretty close and so hypnotising to look at.
I’m afraid to say this was only average for me.
Only about 6 ounces in the end.
It’s a good stone but only an average taste, not what I hoped for.
A few errors early on from me, and she never really got pumping like the others.
Somehow I don’t think I got the best out of Sunset Sherbet.
Maybe I’ll try again one day, not sure.
I’ll cop the blame with some errors at times, not giving it the best chance.
I’ll still smoke it all though 😁
I think you’re right. I’ve been so close to doing it, just praying for it to stop!
One has stopped in time, but the other is determined to look over the fence
@Grey_Wolf, hey mate, I was wondering what happened,,
Geez it’s getting near impossible to grow in that kind of heat.
Cheers mate, the garden is doing well at halfway, but anything can happen!
Cheers wolf 👍
Merry Christmas to you too bro! Hope you and the fam had a good one 🎄
Garden is looking great, they for sure would be loving that pike in the soil 💪
Happy holidays mate 🍻
