Germination
Right in time on Christmas, I am starting a new grow project. This time, I chose the first strain I ever grew, Orion F1. Germination in a paper towel happened in two days and after another tree days in a rookwool plug, I put the baby into a Lechuza Classico Color 28 pot, filled with reused Lechuza Pon (no nutrients). Lechuza Pon is a mineral substrate made from zeolith, bims and lava. Main advantage of the Lechuza system is its semi-automatic irrigation through a water reservoir. Until the roots reach the buttom of the pot and gain access to the reservoir, watering needs to be dome normally from top and after that just the reservoir needs to be filled. Since Lechuza Pon substrate is mineralic, I will only use mineralic ferzilizers. Based on my experience from my last Lechuza grow (Strawberry Merengue), I designed a fertilizer schedule with the help of Claude 3.5 which I will reveal in the next week.

Orion just received rain water. In the beginning, I only sprayed a little from above, but then the baby dropped her head and I realized that Lechuza Pon does not hold water as long as soil. Problem solved with a little bit watering from above.

After the first two weeks, I started to give the lady mineral NPK Fertilizer (NPK 8-8-6) according to my fertilizer scheme (see picture). I developed this scheme based on my experience in the last year, on tips of other growers (special thanks to @Narnius62 from grower.ch and on a detailed discussion with Claude 3.5 Opus. I am really curious how this grow will compare to my first grow of Orion F1 last year, in which I used Plagron products (Royalmix, Alga Grow, Alga Bloom). The pot is a Lechuza Pon Classico Color 28, in which I put reused Lechuza Pon mineral substrate. The Lechuza system offers a water reservoir which will be used by the plant once its roots reach the bottom of the pot (in my first test last year, this was after four weeks). My SanLight EVO 3-80 is currently on 30%; with one fan the total power consumption for three plants is 68W when the lights are on. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. I am more than happy if you follow my little journey to plant perfection :-)

A normal week in the life of an Orion F1 lady. Small meals of fertilizer. Nice lateral growth and healthy green color.

You can only love this F1 hybrid. It just grows beautifully without much intervention. I refed her the water that drops down into the reservoir; however I had to dilute it because the EC value was over 2, so there must still be some Lechuza fertilizer left from my last grow. She is explosively pumping out leaves without stretching. This will probably come in the next two weeks.

Orion F1 is growing new foilage vigorously. The leaves are practically stapled above each other. The main stretch is incoming, I hope. I can see the first hairs so next week will be the first flower week. The leaves on top have light edges, some other leaves show a slight phosphorus deficit. Therefore I reduced the EC and sprayed the leaves with a Haifa Polyfeed 18-18-18 solution, which at least remedied the phosphorus deficit. The lady is changing her nutrition to the reservoir, so I am helping her a little to fully switch.

Orion F1 is making good progress and has started to flower. Since there might be a slight food burn, I reduced the EC value a little. I added Calcinit for some more Nitrogen and Calcium and cut the largest leaves to allow for better air flow and light exposure. The lady is still compressed and I hope for another stretch in the next week.

Orion F1 is growing strongly. I increased the SanLight EVO 3-80 (190W) to 70%. The lady is developing a perfect flower roof without intervention. I just lollipopped her and removed some more fan leaves. The only minor problem is the yellow tips on the upper leaves. To tackle this, I gave her some more Calcium (Calcinit) and some Iron (Fe) and other micronutrients through Humiron Mix WSP. I also reduced the EC to 1.2 today.

Orion F1 is growing her flowers. She is drinking 1l from the reservoir each day. I keep the EC at roughly 1.5, mixing different nutes. At the core, I increased P and K significantly. Since the leave tips are yellow ,I am not increasing the EC further for now.
