Sorry for skipping a week. A lot happened during plant sexing. Firstly 4 of the original 9 Canaanite plant were mail. So gives me close 60% female from my seeds which is good. I kicked around the idea of revegging these and growing them outside for the season to collect some male pollen, but ultimately cut them down. Some other time, when I have more time, I will make a male plant growing diary along with pollen collection harvest.
But not right now. As the week progressed another bad sign. My original base strains hermaphrodite trait is not gone. I found two of my plants to exhibit signs of true hermaphroditism. I removed the male parts promptly and they are under close monitoring and scrutiny. Out of the 9 Canaanite I plants only 1 has shown to be a tried and true female. I may force pollinate this plant or I may just let her be to get the full effect of what I’ve created. As for the remaining 2, my most beautiful Canaanite plant hermaphrodited due to heat stress. I’m growing this strain along with white widow and pushed my temperatures too high for the Canaanite. It’s herm head reared and now I’m left with 3, 1 true female, two true hermaphrodites. AS of now I haven’t had any issues with bananas or pollination, that I’m aware of. Though I am diligently searching daily to avoid any more problems. When this batch is through I plan to clean up, and stick to one strain at a time flowering as it’s too hard to flower a variety with one environment.
