Happy New Year!
2nd grow, excited to try some new techniques and learn more as a home-grower.
https://humboldtseedcompany.com/mango-sherbert/
Soaked seeds for around 24 hours in filtered water (until they sank basically)
Planted in grow bags with tiered substrate:
- Bottom: Fox Farms: Happy Frog
- Mid: Seed starter & worm casings
- Top: seed starter
1 quart grow bags kept in a starter greenhouse until they out-grow the setup.
Once seedlings sprout, I will use a seedling light until they are ready for big pots.
On my last grow I tried doing the paper towel method, and 1 of the seeds rotted out - I now know that I likely pre-soaked it for too long. I planted the remaining 2 seeds directly into substrate. 1 was a dud and one grew beautifully and is currently finishing up drying. Here's to hoping that this time it works out to soak and then soil.
I plan to try LST from very early on with this grow, as well as topping if needed. The last grow (Humboldt Pound Cake) had great genetics - super bushy and didn't need topping at all. I'm interested to see what this one does.
1/1: 78*F, 99% RH, No lights.
1/5: 76*F, 99% RH, first sprout, added some basic seedling light on low power at about 8" opened up the Vents and offset the lid.
1/7: 82*F, 99% RH, seedling already touching the lid. I plugged the soil and replanted it 1" deeper. I will likely need to move it to the tent this week and make a humidity tube from a bottle.
1/15: set up an automation for heat and humidity. Lights are 24h. About 4 sets of true leaves so far. Moved fan to help strengthen stem.
