Hi, Just a high school dropout doing his own thing, RENT FREE!
Didnt know lemon cherry gelato had a purple genetic to it, I might try this one after all.
Pretty neat having a huge pot, I more or less flood-feed the entire pot so it gets the same feeding all over. The two plants nearest the tent door grew much faster initially, which in turn must have used up available minerals in and around where they sit in the medium(0.35ec). As I started to notice very early symptoms of some deficiency on the front plant, I only take EC readings after a watering to ensure I'm always reading moisture-saturated soil at the same baseline. The EC in and around the plants near the door had much lower EC than plants at the back and were slower to develop, after allowing plants near the door to "fast" for a few days I noticed plants that still had the EC of around 0.9 were still developing well, gave them the time they needed to catch up. At least it felt like that. Still learning lots as I go
I made a big feed near the end of last week and mixed around a pound of biochar in 5 gallons of water to soak overnight and oxygenate, after around 24 hours I took some tests that measured ppm to see how much I had to dilute the mixture, I got it to around 1200ppm, it sat beautifully at 6.3ph. Biochar has an extreme amount of CEC but it needs to be charged first similar to coco coir but on steroids, made around 10 gallons all in all, fed soil, 😳 a night of doom and gloom for the plants but she is coming back stronger, everything looking stable, normally this is where I mess up the grow and burn and maim 😀 😃 🙂 🙃 😊 😇. Maybe all my studying in high school is paying off after all. Plants sitting at 1.3 -1.4 ec, just jammed full of minerals for the week, see what creeps up as she goes. Not the reaction I was expecting, but for around 10 minutes after watering it sounded like a 100-gallon bowl of rice crispies, all snap crackle, and pop.
Also, I discovered that too much sugar content in soil during veg can delay flowering quite a bit. Something to do with altering the plant's metabolic pathways. So on this run, there will be no loading up of sugars prior to the flowering period as I felt flowering was undoubtedly delayed by a couple of weeks last grow, could not put my finger on why at the time. After reading this literature I kinda grimaced as last grew I was trigger-happy in loading up on sugars way before flowering began. 💐 looking forward to seeing these flowers, they are magnificent already. 😍 no topping, no training, for once I'm going to let Plant fill the tent, hopefully, the main cola on these will be massssssiiive, THE ONE! *drumroll*
