Thaniel420Fox The plant has its first full set of leaves and looks pretty good considering it's a bit cool. Unfortunately, the basement is only 14 degrees, and a heater or something like that would be totally unnecessary since the room is relatively open. The heating mat ensures a consistent soil temperature even overnight; I hope that's enough...
The stixx is now running at 40% power, which according to my watt meter corresponds to 24 watts. Just heading into flowering, with 100% light output, the gentle light warmth should also bring the temperature in the tent to 20 degrees, right? We'll see.

Thaniel420Fox It's colder outside, so unfortunately also in the basement.. the lamp is still only running at 40% and the distance to the lamp is 23cm from the top leaf.
The plant itself has become quite wide, it's 29cm wide at the top leaf pair.
I watered with SF nematodes today since, as expected, there are fungus gnats.

Thaniel420Fox Unfortunately, it has gotten a bit cooler. However, the lamp is now running at 60%, so 36w, which has kept the daytime temperature relatively stable. The distance to the stixx is 26cm.
Today, 20.2.25, I tied down the top leaves a bit and cut the tip the day before yesterday when it was still very, very small.
There are still fungus gnats around; I will water with nematodes again tomorrow or the day after.

Thaniel420Fox A lower large leaf has developed slight yellow spots and minimal brown areas. Today, I dissolved "TNC MycorrMax – Premium Mycorrhiza powder with Trichoderma and bacteria" in about 2 liters of water and watered it. Since 3-5 drops of that got on the leaves, I briefly sprayed them with clear water afterwards.

Thaniel420Fox No idea why, but there are brown tips with a slight yellow discoloration on the leaf tips. After I saw it, I fertilized with Hesi Grow and CalMag. I hope it gets better. So far, the plant has only received tap water and seemed relatively happy with that. If it recovers, I'll send it into flowering on Thursday. Today is 03/17/25.

Thaniel420Fox The plant has been switched to 12/12 light since March 21, 2025, and the exhaust is turned on. The stixx50 is running at 100% light output with a distance of 25cm from the plant. Even though the stixx50 is supposed to have only about 50w, my wattmeter shows 60.8w at 100% power.
The old leaves continue to show deficiency symptoms. The new ones look good; I'm now always giving 1-1.5ml CalMag and 10ml Hesi Bloom Bio per 1L of water.
I still don't really know if it was just a CalMag problem or a general nutrient deficiency due to non-functioning living soil... since I don't want to stress the plant further, I'm just giving it nutrients.

Thaniel420Fox 4.4.25 Today I did a foliar feeding with 1g of Epsom salt in 200ml of water.
I also added 0.16g of Epsom salt to 1l of tap water for regular watering + Hesi Bloom, which according to Chat GPT gives me a 3:1 calMag ratio. I'm skipping BioBizz CalMag now since my calcium level seems to be good naturally here, and it’s just magnesium that’s lacking?
People, my problems are due to a magnesium deficiency. I see this confirmed by my water values. This has caused a lockout of potassium, etc.
I hope I can still save the grow. I'm very close to the start of week 3 of flowering, and I hope that with the lower temperatures, everything will take a bit longer, so I can also address the nutrient lockout in time. Feel free to share your ideas, this is my first grow.
Edit:
24 hours after the foliar feeding, there was a boost, and the plant has grown 4-5cm in many places. I think I’ve finally found the key and hope that the new leaves don’t get brown spots and die as well. Next Friday, week 3 of flowering ends, and then I’ll remove all the old leaves so I can better see if the new leaves really stay healthy.

Today I did some radical defoliation and lollipopping.
I hope that wasn't too much stress, since she's been fighting with the magnesium deficiency anyway..

Thaniel420Fox This week I actually didn't do much, maybe cut off 3-4 leaves that were shading the buds, but other than that just watering.. Still using Bio Hesi Bloom, about 5-6ml per 1L of water and adding 0.2g of Epsom salt.

Thaniel420Fox I think in another 2-3 weeks it should be ready for harvest? Since I've never grown before, I obviously have no plan 😅 but I have a microscope and will harvest as soon as as many trichomes are milky and not too many are brown.

Nothing really happened, the plant has maybe grown another 1cm. The buds are still getting denser, I would say all the trichomes are still clear so far.

Thaniel420Fox I didn't get to my typical Sunday picture today, it's already the 21st, so Wednesday.
There's no growth happening anymore. I think it's just maturing now.
I haven't been able to see any amber trichomes yet. I think it will take about 2 more weeks?

Thaniel420Fox Fungus gnats are about to explode.. they were practically invisible and within a week the whole thing is full.. so many that a few are even getting stuck in the trichomes of the buds.. I ordered new nematodes and will soon have to 👋 go hunting with tweezers against them.

The nematodes have worked, the fungus gnat infestation is almost gone.
I still can't see any bronze/brown trichomes.. but I think that should slowly change over the course of this week.

I harvested today. There were already a few brown/bronze trichomes on the sugar leaves. Several on the top in the flowering stage.
Since I don't want a heavy couch lock effect but rather something for the day, this should be good?!
Unfortunately, due to the fungus gnat infestation during flowering, I had to flush. I completely dunked the plant parts in a large bucket of warm water and then shook it. Some fungus gnats were flushed up in the process. I also used tweezers to remove a few more gnats that didn't want to come loose in the water.
I hope I didn't destroy too many trichomes in the process... but better a few less trichomes than vaporizing pests? Chat GPT said it's probably not harmful but ruins the flavor... I hope I got them all 🤷♂️
Because of the water bath, I also left the circulation fan on in the box for now. Let's see if I set it up the day after tomorrow and only leave the exhaust fan on to dry it more gently.
I'll report back as soon as it cracks and I trim it, then I'll switch to harvest mode here... I'm curious if I reach 49g 🤷♂️ I have zero experience with how much will come out...
Thaniel420Fox I have everything dried and trimmed as of 06/29/25.
I ended up with a total of 64.21g from the plant.
Of course, I threw 10g directly into the compost bin along with the green waste, so it was disposed of properly. That should last forever anyway.
Overall, it cost me 34.20€ in pure energy costs, which is about 0.53€ per gram in energy costs. Let's leave out the initial costs and wear and tear, etc. 😌😂😂
Let's see when I start a new grow.
If you have any questions or tips, feel free to share!
I forgot to mention that there is a smell! I'm currently not using any exhaust, just circulating air, but you can smell it a little when you enter the communal basement. As soon as you open the tent, the smell has been noticeably present for about 4-6 days.
I don't know how to post an update during the seedling phase. It wants me to move on to the veg phase next. But for me, the first two weeks after germination aren't the veg phase. But I guess that's a matter of definition. Anyway, I've wrapped a heating mat around the fabric pot since the box is in a 13-degree cold basement. So far, I've kept the exhaust off and only let the circulation fan run. The seedling is now about 3 cm tall, the Stixx50 is at 20% power (12.5 W) with a distance of about 19–20 cm. That should theoretically be 210–230 ppfd.
The humidity is at 70%, the temperature is about 14.5 °C air temperature, and the heating mat is set to 30 °C. I hope the plant is at 20 °C, but I'm not exactly sure. During the growth phase, the lamp should provide enough heat at 40 or 60%.
The lamp is now at 20% 17 W and with a power supply outside the tent, there's just not much heat coming from there. To be precise, there's a heat loss of 0.9 degrees with the light off, says my Wi-Fi thermohygrometer. I would love to show a picture, but as I said, I can only write a comment without a picture here and can't post a proper update. If it is possible to do this in the germination phase, please let me know.
