SamDo Journal de Culture – Semaine 1 : Transplantation du Clone La culture démarre avec une bouture de Mother Gorilla (Royal Queen Seeds), prélevée sur mon pied-mère. Après un enracinement en douceur, elle a été transplantée dans son nouvel environnement de croissance. Bonne nouvelle : le système racinaire s’est bien développé, signe que la transition s’est faite correctement ! Cette fois, j’ai bien veillé à maintenir une hygrométrie stable à 80 %, ce qui avait été un souci lors de ma précédente culture. Pour ça, j’ai investi dans un humidificateur AC Infinity qui fait très bien le job. This time, I made sure to maintain a steady 80% humidity, something I struggled with in my last grow. To help with that, I picked up an AC Infinity humidifie and it’s working great. Key parameters: • Lighting: 18 hours • Humidity: 80% • pH: 5.5 - 5.8 (minor adjustments needed) • Water temperature: 18°C Right now, the plant is still in its rooting phase, but everything looks good so far. SamDo Semaine 2 – Croissance Mother Gorilla On continue sur une bonne lancée avec cette deuxième semaine de croissance ! La plante est bien vigoureuse, elle a clairement pris du volume depuis la semaine dernière. J’estime qu’elle a quasiment doublé de taille, on est maintenant aux alentours de 15-16 cm. C’est un bon signe, elle se plaît dans son environnement et ça se voit aussi au niveau des racines : elles ont bien évolué en quelques jours, bien blanches et en pleine forme. Côté constantes, on reste sur 18h de lumière par jour. La température oscille entre 22-23°C en journée et descend à 18°C la nuit, donc l’amplitude reste raisonnable. Niveau pH, il a un peu bougé et est monté à 6, mais rien d’inquiétant. Je vais surveiller s’il continue de grimper, et si besoin, je le redescendrai à 5,8. Pour l’humidité, j’ai baissé légèrement à 70 %, et je prévois de continuer dans cette direction la semaine prochaine pour descendre entre 60 et 65 %. L’objectif est de garder un VPD entre 0,4 et 0,8 max, histoire de rester dans une bonne fourchette pour la croissance. Aucune modification sur la plante pour l’instant : je ne l’ai pas encore topée, je préfère lui laisser encore une semaine d’acclimatation avant de commencer le travail de structure. Même chose pour la solution nutritive, je suis toujours sur la même que la semaine dernière. Pour l’instant, pas de signe de carence ou de besoin particulier, donc je continue comme ça. The plant is looking strong and has clearly bulked up since last week. I’d say it has almost doubled in size, now standing around 15-16 cm. That’s a great sign—it’s thriving in its environment, and you can see it in the roots too. They’ve developed really well over the past few days, nice and white, just the way we want them. As for the conditions, we’re sticking to 18 hours of light per day. Temperature stays between 22-23°C during the day and drops to 18°C at night, which is a good range. The pH has fluctuated a bit, sitting at 6 now, but nothing concerning. I’ll keep an eye on it—if it keeps rising, I’ll adjust it back down to 5.8. Humidity has been slightly lowered to 70%, and I plan to keep decreasing it next week to around 60-65%. My goal is to maintain a VPD between 0.4 and 0.8 max to keep things ideal for growth. No plant training yet—I haven’t topped it, as I want to give it another week to settle in before I start shaping it. Same goes for the nutrient solution—I’m still using the same mix from last week. SamDo 🇺🇸Week 3🇺🇸 – Growth Explosion & First Training Back again for this week’s update! The Mother Gorilla is going crazy—she’s growing at an insane pace, and honestly, I couldn’t be happier. The plant is super strong, and the leaves are just massive. Some are reaching up to 21 cm long, which is wild. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. And honestly, I have to say—I’m seriously impressed by Formulex from Growth Technology. I’ve been using the same nutrient solution since the start, and the results are just insane. It’s such a simple product, but what it’s delivering so far is absolutely incredible. I’ll be switching to growth fertilizers soon (they’re on the way), but for now, I’m sticking with Formulex, and it’s honestly blowing my mind. Environmental Conditions Not much has changed on that front. The environment is still dialed in: • Temperature: ~22-23°C during the day, 18°C at night. • Nutrient solution temp: Holding steady at 17-18°C. • pH levels: Hovering around 5.8-6.0—had to adjust it slightly during the week, but nothing major. It’s stable overall. • VPD (Vapor Pressure Deficit): Still around 0.6, which seems to be working well. As long as it stays below 0.8, I think we’re in the sweet spot. • Humidity: Holding at 70%. Everything’s been pretty stable, and it looks like the plant is loving it. Major Work This Week – Defoliation & Topping This week was huge in terms of plant training. The foliage was getting super dense, so I went in for a heavy defoliation, removing all the big fan leaves. On top of that, I topped the plant—cut the main shoot to redirect energy towards the secondary branches. The goal is to push those side branches so they can take full advantage of the SCROG I just set up! Now, it’s all about recovery. Certaines atteignent 21 cm de longueur, c’est complètement dingue. Je crois que je n’ai jamais vu ça avant. Et franchement, je dois le dire—je suis vraiment impressionné par le Formulex de chez Growth Technology. J’utilise exactement la même solution nutritive depuis le début, et les résultats sont juste dingues. C’est un produit hyper simple, mais ce que ça donne pour l’instant, c’est vraiment incroyable. I believe this is normal, but it’s still progressing and growing. Environmental Conditions • Humidity: 70% • Temperature: ~78.8°F • pH Level: Still between 5.8 and 6.2; it had slightly increased, so I adjusted it back down to 5.8 • VPD: Still between 0.4 and 0.8, which is fine Most of the heavy work was done last week, so this week has been more about maintaining progress. I’m continuing to train the plant using the SCROG method, carefully tucking branches underneath the net whenever possible. I also did a light defoliation to maximize light penetration for the new developing branches that are forming new growth sites. I’m still waiting for my new nutrients, which should arrive this week. That means I’ll finally be able to switch to a proper nutrient solution. So far, I’ve only been using Formulex, which has worked fine, but I believe it’s now time to transition to proper vegetative nutrients. Regarding the roots, they still seem to be developing well (secondary rootlets). For now, everything is going smoothly. The plant has recovered from defoliation and, most importantly, from topping. Je pense que c’est normal, mais elle continue d’évoluer et de pousser. Constantes environnementales • Humidité : 70% • Température : ~26°C • pH : Toujours entre 5.8 et 6.2 ; il avait un peu augmenté, donc je l’ai redescendu à 5.8 • VPD : Toujours entre 0.4 et 0.8, donc tout est bon Le gros du travail ayant été fait la semaine dernière, cette semaine est surtout consacrée au suivi et à l’entretien. Je continue tranquillement le palissage avec le SCROG, en replaçant les branches sous le filet lorsque c’est possible. J’ai aussi fait une légère défoliation pour maximiser la pénétration de la lumière sur les nouvelles petites branches qui forment de nouveaux sites de croissance. J’attends toujours mes nouveaux nutriments, qui devraient arriver cette semaine. Je vais enfin pouvoir passer sur une véritable solution nutritive. After two tough weeks with overfeeding and water stress, I’m finally happy to see my plant bouncing back. The roots had taken a hit, and last week, I noticed my filter was way more clogged than usual. I believe the dead roots were broken down and flushed out, most likely thanks to Cannazym. I added it specifically to help decompose the damaged roots, and it seems to have done its job. Today, I checked the roots and saw that they have stopped browning and are beginning to return to a more normal color. They were previously quite dark, but now they’re showing signs of improvement. The root mass hasn’t regained volume yet, but I think it’s still eliminating waste. It’ll be interesting to see if more debris accumulates in the filter or if it remains clean from now on. Another great sign: my nutrient solution level has dropped, meaning the plant is feeding properly again. At the same time, my EC has decreased, confirming that it’s actively absorbing nutrients. This recovery is also visible in the canopy: it has become denser, allowing me to slightly top some central shoots that were growing past the screen and to continue working on the SCROG. The only minor issue this week was pH fluctuation. Over the weekend, it rose to 6.6, but I recalibrated it to 5.9 today. Après deux semaines compliquées marquées par une surnutrition et un stress hydrique, je suis heureux de voir que la plante repart dans le bon sens. Les racines avaient bien souffert, et en observant mon filtre la semaine dernière, j’ai remarqué qu’il était bien plus encrassé que d’habitude. J’en conclus que les racines mortes ont été détruites et évacuées, sûrement grâce au Cannazym. J’avais ajouté ce produit pour faciliter la décomposition des racines abîmées, et cela semble avoir bien fonctionné. Aujourd’hui, en observant les racines, j’ai constaté qu’elles ont arrêté de brunir et qu’elles commencent à retrouver une couleur normale. Elles étaient auparavant bien sombres, mais leur état s’améliore nettement. Pour l’instant, la masse racinaire n’a pas encore repris en volume, mais je pense qu’elle élimine encore des déchets. They continue to eliminate dead roots, and you can see in the photos that new root growth is emerging. This is a great sign—it means the plant is regaining strength. The roots have resumed their growth, which is the big highlight of the week. The plant has also continued to develop foliage. It’s now dense and well-filled out. Today, I did a major defoliation to maximize light penetration and maintain good airflow. Now, I’ll let the plant recover because I think I’ll be switching to flowering soon, maybe next week or the one after. I really want to optimize light penetration to encourage new shoots, which will later become flowering sites. Environmental Conditions & Nutrients: We’re still at 18 hours of light, with temperatures between 25–27°C and humidity around 70%. pH and EC: I’ve had some issues with pH rising. It tends to climb to 6.5–6.6, so I have to lower it regularly. Since switching back to RO water, I stopped adding tap water. But now, I’ve started reintroducing small amounts to help stabilize the nutrient solution. Initially, my RO water had an EC of 0.1, which I increased to 0.2–0.3, and now I plan to raise it to 0.4 before adding nutrients. This should help maintain a more stable pH. The EC was set at 1.4, and now it has dropped slightly to 1.3, which is great news—it means the plant is drinking and absorbing nutrients well. Final Thoughts: • The roots are bouncing back. • The plant is strong and healthy. • I performed heavy defoliation and topped some apical growths to keep the canopy even as I finish filling the Scrog net. • I changed the nutrient solution this week, so we’re on a fresh mix. Aujourd’hui, j’ai fait une grosse défoliation pour maximiser la pénétration lumineuse et maintenir une bonne circulation de l’air. Maintenant, je vais laisser la plante récupérer tranquillement, car je pense la passer en floraison bientôt, probablement la semaine prochaine ou celle d’après. Je veux vraiment optimiser la pénétration lumineuse pour favoriser de nouvelles pousses, qui deviendront des sites de floraison. Conditions & Nutrition : On reste sur 18 heures de lumière, avec des températures entre 25 et 27°C, et une humidité d’environ 70%. pH et EC : J’ai eu quelques soucis avec le pH, qui a tendance à monter jusqu’à 6,5–6,6, donc je dois le réajuster régulièrement. Depuis que je suis repassé à l’eau osmosée, je ne mets plus d’eau du robinet, mais j’ai recommencé à en ajouter un peu pour aider à stabiliser la solution nutritive. À l’origine, mon eau osmosée avait une EC de 0,1, que j’ai augmentée à 0,2–0,3, et maintenant, je compte la monter à 0,4 avant d’ajouter les nutriments. Cela devrait aider à maintenir un pH plus stable. L’EC était à 1,4, et maintenant, elle est descendue à 1,3, ce qui est une bonne nouvelle : la plante boit et absorbe bien les nutriments. En résumé : • Les racines reprennent bien. • La plante est forte et en bonne santé. • J’ai fait une grosse défoliation et topé quelques apex pour maintenir une canopée homogène et finaliser le remplissage du Scrog. • Changement de solution nutritive cette semaine, donc on repart sur du neuf. Je vais maintenant laisser la plante récupérer de la défoliation, ce qui la ralentira sans doute un peu pendant 2–3 jours. Dans l’ensemble, ça se passe très bien, et on se rapproche de la floraison ! 🤘😎

SamDo 🇺🇸 Week 9 of Growth – Mother Gorilla 🇺🇸 Hey everyone, we’re back for Week 9 of growth for the Mother Gorilla from Royal Queen Seeds. This week wasn’t great—the plant struggled to recover after the defoliation. I had major pH fluctuations all week, which really slowed down growth. Now at Week 9, I really want to switch to flowering, but the plant isn’t developing well enough. For the past three weeks, things haven’t been going smoothly, and it’s frustrating. This morning, after returning from the weekend, pH had risen to 6.4, which is way too high for hydro at this stage. So I flushed the reservoir and started fresh with a new, properly adjusted nutrient solution. I kept all the nutrients the same, and all other parameters remain unchanged. Now, my main focus this week is keeping the nutrient solution stable so the plant can resume healthy growth. Nothing else to report—just pH fluctuations and slowed growth. The plant really needs to regain strength before flowering, or it’ll be a problem. Cette semaine n’a pas été top, la plante a eu du mal à récupérer après la défoliation. J’ai eu de grosses fluctuations de pH toute la semaine, ce qui a ralenti la croissance. On est à 9 semaines de croissance, et j’aimerais vraiment passer en floraison, mais la plante ne se développe pas assez bien. Ça fait trois semaines que ça ne se passe pas comme prévu, et c’est frustrant. Ce matin, en rentrant du week-end, le pH était monté à 6,4, ce qui est bien trop élevé pour l’hydro à ce stade. J’ai donc vidé la soupe et préparé une nouvelle solution nutritive ajustée. J’ai gardé les mêmes nutriments, et toutes les constantes restent inchangées. Cette semaine, mon objectif est de stabiliser la solution nutritive pour que la plante puisse reprendre une bonne croissance. Rien d’autre à signaler, à part les fluctuations de pH et le ralentissement. Elle doit vraiment reprendre de la vigueur avant la floraison, sinon ça risque d’être compliqué. SamDo 🇺🇸🇺🇸 Week 10 – Growth Journal – Mother Gorilla 🇺🇸🇺🇸 Unfortunately, I had to remove the plant. I’m gutted. Ten weeks of work, nutrients, electricity, and patience… and in the end, I had to remove the plant. So what happened? It all started with root problems that ended up forming a plug. The roots grew and compacted so much in the center of the tube that they completely blocked it. As a result, water started to accumulate in the tube, creating an overflow. This led to a lack of oxygen around the roots, even though the nutrient solution itself was well oxygenated. That’s when I had to step in and install a kind of drain under the roots to allow the excess solution to flow again. But while doing this, I probably damaged the root mass. And unfortunately, it never recovered. The presence of decaying organic matter in the root zone began to destabilize the nutrient solution. It altered the chemical balance of the solution, specifically its microbiological and physicochemical stability, which is essential in hydroponics. Despite all efforts – flushing with FlashClean, restarting with a mild solution, and later adding Voodoo Juice and Cannazym – I saw no improvement. When I finally decided to remove the plant and gently pulled on the stem to lift it, the trunk almost detached by itself. There was barely any resistance, which likely indicates internal rot, probably due to the prolonged lack of oxygen. Lessons learned? Hydroponics work extremely well – as long as the roots are healthy and have room. This test setup had worked before but never over such a long growth phase. I now know two things: either keep the plant for less time (e.g. use clones, flip quickly), or oversize the root zone. That’s what I’ll do next time. I used a 100mm tube – next time I’ll go for 125 or even 150mm. When you grow a single plant to fill an entire grow space, it needs root space to match. This was a huge disappointment, because the plant had incredible potential. The first 5–6 weeks were explosive. But once root space ran out, everything went downhill. It’s the second run in a row I haven’t finished. It hurts. But I’m learning. I’m building my own setup, and that means experimenting. You can’t learn everything in one go. I can already see a lot of efficiency in my system – it just needs refining. Disappointed, yes – but also motivated. I still enjoyed the journey. A new plant is coming soon. Thanks for following. Dix semaines de travail, d’engrais, d’électricité, de patience… et au final, j’ai dû retirer la plante. Alors, qu’est-ce qui s’est passé ? Tout a commencé par des soucis racinaires qui ont fini par former un bouchon. Les racines ont tellement poussé qu’elles se sont compactées au centre du tube, jusqu’à créer une obstruction complète. Résultat : accumulation d’eau dans le tube, débordements… et surtout, appauvrissement en oxygène au niveau des racines, malgré une solution nutritive parfaitement oxygénée. J’ai donc dû intervenir en urgence et installer un petit drain sous les racines pour évacuer la solution coincée. Mais en le faisant, j’ai sans doute endommagé la masse racinaire. Et malheureusement, elle n’a jamais récupéré. La présence de matières organiques en décomposition dans la zone racinaire a commencé à déséquilibrer la solution nutritive. Cela a affecté l’équilibre physico-chimique et microbiologique de la solution, qui est pourtant crucial en hydroponie. Malgré tous les efforts – flush au FlashClean, reprise avec une soupe légère, puis ajout de Voodoo Juice et Cannazym – je n’ai observé aucune amélioration. Quand j’ai finalement décidé de retirer la plante, en tirant légèrement sur le tronc pour la sortir de son logement, il s’est pratiquement détaché tout seul. Presque aucune résistance. J’en conclus qu’un début de pourrissement interne avait commencé, probablement à cause du manque d’oxygène prolongé. Qu’est-ce que j’en retire ? L’hydroponie, ça marche super bien – tant que les racines sont en bonne santé et ont assez de place. Ce setup test avait déjà été utilisé, mais jamais sur une aussi longue durée. Maintenant je sais : soit je réduis le temps de culture (partir de boutures et lancer la floraison rapidement), soit je dois agrandir la zone racinaire. C’est ce que je ferai. J’étais sur un tube de 100 mm. La prochaine fois, je passerai à 125 voire 150 mm. Quand on cultive une seule plante pour remplir tout l’espace, il faut que le système racinaire suive. Grosse déception, car la plante avait un potentiel énorme. On l’a vu pendant les 5–6 premières semaines, où elle a explosé. Mais dès que les racines ont manqué de place, les problèmes ont commencé. C’est la deuxième fois d’affilée que je ne termine pas une culture. Ça fait mal. Mais j’apprends. Je crée mes propres systèmes et j’adore ça, mais malheureusement ça demande des essais. On ne peut pas tout apprendre en un jour. Mon système est déjà très performant – il lui manque juste quelques ajustements. Je suis déçu, oui, mais aussi déterminé.
