RasendeRollo92 Hello dear community & welcome back! After a long time, I've finally taken the step to show myself here again. So here we are, with my project: Winter grow! I had a seedling lamp lying around for the initial phase. The plan is to move the ladies outside to the greenhouse around March. Let's see what happens. All 4/4 have germinated — really extremely awesome seeds from SweetSeeds! The pots are equipped with 2x Jet Fuel Mandarine XL & 2x Red StraBa. I won't be able to be as active as I used to be, but I'll try to update 2-3 times a week. So: Happy growing! Update 1.0 The ladies feel much more comfortable under the lamp - I really can't recommend a windowsill in winter. You can also tell by the shape of the leaves which ones are the same strain… unfortunately, I didn't mark the pots when moving them… so let's hope the red StraBas really turn red ^^

RasendeRollo92 Welcome to week 2! The little ones are doing okay so far. I'm curious to see how things progress. I've already brought in a pot of soil and I'm topping off the pots a bit to counteract the initial stretching. It remains exciting 👍 Update 1.0 They're actually doing quite well. Only the lady in the front left has very light leaves, but that's been the case since germination. Let's wait and see 🤷🏼

RasendeRollo92 Welcome to week 3! They're doing... not particularly well, but not overly bad either. It's also a test to see if it's possible to grow in winter without much equipment... seems to be working. I'm really curious to see how it goes from here.

RasendeRollo92 Welcome to week 4! The one on the front left is a bit pale on the leaves. The growth is also noticeably slower than the others. I'm actually quite satisfied with the other three ladies now. They got real light outdoors for half a day twice last week! Update 1.0 The little ladies are starting to smell a bit.

RasendeRollo92 Welcome to week 5! Overall, things are going better than expected. The front left is still a bit pale around the nose, I don't know what it's about... it's just always been like that ^^ the growth of this little lady is also very limited. On the other hand, I had to force-stop the front right. The nodes were so close together, it wouldn't have gone well. Other than that, I'm really delighted so far. Unfortunately, the nights are still way too cold, so I haven't been able to put them outside permanently yet. As soon as I see some sun, I'll take advantage of it! Update 1.0 As you may have read in the parallel report, I've decided to give up the bright one... may it rest in the compost... Update 2.0 One of the ladies is growing very compact on the main stem. To give it a bit better light, I've adjusted the branches a little. I hope it goes along with it, because I think it's a bit late.

RasendeRollo92 Welcome to week 6! I didn't think I would get this far under the conditions. Out of 4, I have 3 - the light green one couldn't be revived, so it's gone. All the others are already going into flowering - some more than others - but this way I can probably tell the strawberries & the mandarins apart! Unfortunately, the weather is absolutely not cooperating this week! Daytime temperatures are forecasted to be just around +5 degrees and at night it could drop into the minus range. The ladies are staying indoors. But it should improve again starting next week. Update 1.0 - Day 40 Today I'm giving 1.5ml of BioBloom & 1ml of CalMag. I've got a little measuring tool since yesterday. pH is good. EC is too low. Light is borderline for the flowering phase. Temp is also a bit too low.

Hey everyone, I've had these brown spots on the old leaves of my little plants for a few days now. In the weeks before, I fertilized, but only with 1 ml of BioGrow, 1 ml of BioBloom & 2 ml of CalMag from BioBizz — I think it's more of a deficiency. Thanks a lot for your tips!

Hey there, so there are many causes that could be leading to your problem. My guess is point 1 because of point 3. 1 Nutrient deficiency: A lack of calcium, magnesium, or potassium can lead to brown spots. Calcium deficiency often shows up as dark brown spots on the leaf edges. 2 Overwatering: Too much water can damage the roots and cause brown spots on the leaves. Environmental conditions: High humidity and fluctuating temperatures can also lead to brown spots. 3 To rule out over-fertilization is relatively simple by measuring the pH of your runoff; if it's above 6.5 or below 5.7, then something is already off. If the value is outside this range, your plant goes into a nutrient lockout and can't absorb various nutrients, leading to deficiency signs. The EC value should also not exceed 2, otherwise, you have too many salts in the soil. In your case, I suspect one of the deficiencies mentioned above, because even if you add CalMag and potassium, if your pH isn't right, the plant won't absorb them.

RasendeRollo92 Welcome to week 7! The ladies have officially entered the flowering stage for me now. It doesn't look too spectacular yet, but I'm very optimistic. They smell like a big deal! I'm adding 0.5ml of CalMag to the water with every watering as a precaution (I was advised to do this, thanks again). They've also received 2ml of BioBloom & 1ml of TopMax from BioBizz. I'm looking forward to the next steps!

RasendeRollo92 Welcome to week 8! These are really wild plants, I didn't expect that 😅 I still can't tell the Banana(s) & the Mandarin(s) apart, but that's okay. In the worst case, I'll depend on the growth time — one took longer to start flowering, and that's currently the Mandarin for me. Other than that, everything is going great so far 🤷🏽‍♂️ Update 1.0 - Day Everything is going well, except for the weather. The ladies are staying more inside than outside, it's not going according to plan, but it's working somehow. My flowers are blooming as they should. Unfortunately, my timer had some kind of error last night — the light was on all night...

RasendeRollo92 Welcome to week 9! I have to say, things are really going well. The ladies are blooming and thriving beautifully, considering the rather poor conditions. There are more than enough flower sites — now they just need to fatten up, but we're working on that. From my perspective, I don't see any deficiencies. The only downside: I still can't tell the StraBas apart from the Mandarines - that was my mistake - but they should also become RED StraBas. It will happen!

RasendeRollo92 Welcome to week 10! The weather is really just playing around right now, and you can see it, in my opinion. The buds are getting thicker, stickier, and starting to smell. You can identify pairs by the smell, and I think you can also separate the strawberries from the jet fuel (the smallest one really has a strong citrus smell). Unfortunately, no signs of red/purple or anything like that, but I'm not giving up hope! Update 1.0 - Day 68 Today, unfortunately, there's house arrest, the weather is changing & it's very windy. One of the lower side branches on one of the StraBa ladies got bent in half due to the wind... it's currently being dried in the oven & used as a tester to see where the journey will go 😂😂😂👍

Hey everyone, Since today I've noticed slight red discolorations on the sugar leaves. The stems are also turning a bit red. pH is at the lower limit (~6.0 measured in the soil, not in the drain). Nutrient lockout, or long-awaited purpling?!

Anthocyanins are the pigment responsible for purple hues, 💜 it functions slightly differently from chloryphyll or carotenoids in that its not attached to membranes its in the cell sap itself. Anthocyanins are more stable and appear as red or pink pigments in acidic environments (pH 1-6). At neutral pH (around 7), they exhibit a purple hue. As the pH increases (becomes more alkaline), the color shifts to blue and then to greenish-yellow, and eventually colorless in highly alkaline conditions. Looks like the dark green I'd expect from nitrogen excess but hard to tell. I copy and pasted that last part :)

purple petioles (leaf stems) happen with LED more times than not, so it's hard to use it as a symptom reliably. REd streaks in stems indicates low sulfur, but could also just be genetics. These leaves look overly lush, but could be turning purple, too. You'll have to watch for other symptoms to rule out possibilities. Colder temperatures at night (68F and below) will exaggerate autumn colors, too.

RasendeRollo92 Welcome to week 11! I never expected this result. The buds are getting thicker, there are plenty of them, and they are extremely frosty! The plants are healthy, even though the first deficiencies are starting to show (the lower fan leaves are slowly turning yellow). As you may have read in the other reports, I will be on vacation starting at the end of the week — our vacation substitute will also take care of these ladies. He will continue to follow the BioBizz feeding plan for about 1.5 weeks and then start flushing. After my vacation, the ladies need to come down because it's time for other projects 👊

RasendeRollo92 Welcome back! As you might have noticed, I was on vacation... but my substitute held down the fort bravely. I would have preferred to give the ladies another 1-2 weeks, but I felt the first brown spots were making an appearance & didn't want to risk anything... so off with their heads! More information will follow after drying & curing 👊

Best of luck for this run buddy! They go slow and stead, looking not bad at all. I guess they won't yield a lot, i tried an early outdoor run last year which was kind off a fail. But i'm curious how your winter run will end up! Happy growing💪🌱🌞🍀
