Pineapple Express F1 Auto + Biotabs "Just Add Water"
kohlrabi I was delighted to receive these seeds from Zamnesia after my previous seed collection died. Many thanks! If you want to buy their seeds and have a 20% discount, you can use "ZAMMIGROW2024".
The seed came out of the soil after 5 days. Interestingly, I've never had a seed that didn't sprout when I planted it directly in the substrate. I seem to be more skilful at arranging the right amount of liquid for such a seed in large containers. Apparently small containers dry out too quickly or I overwater - who knows. But it's nice that the laziest method is also the most successful method for me.
Same with fertilising: The just-add-water method from Bio Tabs works brilliantly and I don't know if I'll ever feel like using anything else again.
Since I have still not enough space, she's not in her final container yet, which will be about 15 litres.
As you can see, I ran out of Lego money and have to make my own. Does the yellow head with the leaves count as a "Pineapple"? And look at his torso, I even added something to include the "Express"! :D

kohlrabi The first week went by quite regularly and uneventfully. The little one is not in her final pot – that will hold 12 litres – because I don't have the space yet. My two large plants are taking their sweet time maturing, despite me being so impatient.

kohlrabi This plant has also not grown quite as large as I would expect. As it is similar with LSD, I almost suspect that I have made a mistake along the way. Was the repotting perhaps too stressful?
But maybe I'm just worrying too much and the lady will pull herself together after a few days - in any case, she's already grown.
I put her in her final pot (12 litres). As always, I use a wick system. This allows excess water to run off first, but the plant can help itself to the water that has run off using a strip of fabric. There is no simpler self-watering principle, and in combination with the Air Pots it is also very easy to set up. A recommendation.

kohlrabi It's time for a little error analysis.
This plant shows a lot of abnormalities - small growth, spotty leaves and stagnation. I can think of some things I could have done wrong, but I have no idea what's wrong with the colouring. Any ideas, my fellow growmies?
The basic problem is probably impatience. Instead of waiting until all the plants were ready, I wanted to grow the next plants right in the middle. Since didn't have the space, they all germinated at different times. Firstly, we now have the problem that the light is intense enough for the big plants, but too strong for the small ones - as can be seen from the leaves curling upwards.
Secondly, the soil I have prepared is perfect for the plants from week 2 or 3, but I want to use a Root Riot Cube again in future for the seedling phase. They simply work best. Unfortunately they are made of peat - I hope I can find a better alternative soon. For me, it still makes the most sense to grow directly in the final pot, as I'm not skilful at repotting. But a cube like this is still a good idea, because its composition is ideal for seeds and the first sprout.
But what about the blotchy leaves? This doesn't look like variegation to me.

kohlrabi She is still a bushy little dwarf, but reducing the light intensity seems to have helped a little. I removed some leaves as well and started some training. I'm not sure this will pay off in the end, but as for now, I still have enough space in the box and time on my hands to see where this is going.

kohlrabi It's explosion week, it seems. No joke: I had to take one of my plants out of the growbox, because the two miniature plants that I had little hope for exploded and now there is a fight for the light. Incredible.
I took the pictures in time, one week after the last update, but I didn't have time to write until now.

kohlrabi These photos are really too late - sorry. There are almost 2 weeks between this week's and last week's. So a lot has happened: We are in the middle of the flowering phase and the plant is now 50cm tall. It looks very nice, but unfortunately you can tell that I haven't had any time for training.

kohlrabi We were on holidays (in Barcelona, what a great city!) and a friend took care of the plants. Thanks to the solid fertilizer, he only had to add water. No news and no fancy pictures, you'll have to wait for the next update.

kohlrabi When it comes to evaluating this strain - which, to be honest, I always feel overwhelmed by, there are too many factors - I will probably say ‘resistant’ this time. As the only plant in the grow box, ‘Pineapple Express’ didn't mind getting too little water at all. It has grown beautifully in my absence. Gave her Bactrex this week again.

kohlrabi All is going well with this lady, EXCEPT for the fact that I can't find the Lego anymore. That's what you get for leaving toys unattended in this house.
Mostly clear trichomes, I'm checking daily now.
It's time to celebrate! Pineapple Express was sawed off on day 75 of her circle of life. After a rather difficult start, which was probably partly due to the fact that I didn't water enough, she has caught up very well. It's hard to believe that I briefly considered whether I should keep her at all! She coped wonderfully well with a dry phase in between (holidays). The odour is extremely pleasant, although not penetrating.

kohlrabi The plant was easy to trim, there weren't too many leaves and the flowers were nice and compact. I was surprised that there was quite a lot of the biotabs ‘left over’ - this is probably also due to my insufficient watering. I'll definitely do it differently next time!
Looks to me like a light variegation, from the color. All your plants look healthy otherwise, I'm guessing genetics... F1s grow a bit bushier than normal ones anyway.
@Schnabeldino, now that you mention it, I realized that another dwarfed, bushy plant I grew was a F1, but from RQS... But I can think of no reason why F1 seeds should behave this way. Strange!
@Schnabeldino, thank you for your input! I never had this before. Some variegation on the first few leaves, but nothing like this. I'm very curious how this will turn out!
Perhaps the substrate in the Airpods dries out too quickly for the Biostabs? Plastic pots definitely keep moisture longer. I have no experience with this, just a guess. In any case, congratulations on your harvest, have fun with it and enjoy it. 😇🙌🦖
I'm glad you found your Lego figure again hehe 😂
