just starting my diary while the grow nears completion. This is supposed to be an autoflower but around week 5-6 without any signs of preflower I decided to go to 12-12. She is doing very well under these conditions so far as you will see (I will try to get this diary caught up quickly). I am doing some light lst and have done some light defoliation because she gets quite bushy at times, but, for the most part, just letting her grow naturally. I am using the green planet duel fuel box set along with some calimagic in a mixture of coco and perlite. The amounts you see per litre were mixed with ditilled water for the first 6 weeks and adjusted to the proper EC using only calmagic distilled water. I essentially just followed there guide lines and its worked perfectly for this plant.
getting through the delicate stage now. I was still using a humidity dome at this point and i think it was at the end of this week i finally stopped using it. I managed to get myself a decent 11 L humidifier to keep the humidity around 50%. This is a winter grow so humidity levels in house sink to 30% sometimes as low as 20% so it was a must. You may have also noticed that i started the plant in a 10 L pot. It was intended for an autoflower that could not be tranplanted without trouble.
She is free from her plastic prison now and seems happy with the humidity levels around 50%. She seems to be growing well considering the large size of the container. I've read elsewhere that it can slow growth but with autoflowers you kind of have to, so here we are.
This was a busy week for this girl. Her growth really started taking off and i moved the lights a little closer. They are still pretty far away but i'm not seeing any signs of over stretching so they stay put.
I switched to the early bloom nutrients schedule here as i thought i found pistils. They turned out to be just more leafy growth but I continued to feed it this way anyways. As long as shes happy so am I. I also started to lst the lower branches to pull them out to the light. thought about lollipopping but i want to keep her as natural as possible. The light remains at the same height. Also noticed the roots started filling the pot and poking out the sides this week.
FInally hit a foot tall which seemed to take forever, but i'll give her a break because she started out in such a large pot. Tired of waiting for this one to auto so here we go.
on to full bloom nutrients now, she is growing incredibly fast and very healthy. The full bloom nutrients have an incredibly high ec. I've continued to dilute with lots of calimagic ro water to bring it into her ideal ec range.
shes covered in sticky flowers now and starting to smell up the tent quite a bit. It smells a bit musty in the tent but I've heard that can happen in coco, I thought maybe it was also the fabric pot I'm using as well. The flowers themselves smell delicious when you smell them up close.
finally caught up on my journal now and will continue to post as she grows. I tried increasing the nutrients just a little bit over the last couple of days but discovered just a slight tip burn happening. This is the first issue i've had with this plant, she's been pretty strong from the start. I will lower the ec back to where i had it before, increase the volume of water a bit, and also raise the light a bit, which i think might be getting to close as she has grown. upward growth seems to have stopped. hopefully over the next couple of weeks those buds will thicken up. Did a little pruning on the interior of the plant and anywhere the leaves were bunching between the buds, I want to leave as many leaves as possible to collect every drop of light available while still permiting good air flow.
dropped the ec back a little and moved the light up a bit to and there hasn't been anymore issues with burnt tips. Happy, healthy and putting on a little weight. interested to see how thick the buds get and the quality difference between the bottom and top buds. I've always messed around with the plants in some way with topping or lst. this one i let grow mostly natural shape. I just pulled out the bottom branches a bit with lst while she was young, but i have since released those branches since she has stopped all vertical growth. Also still following the green planet nutrient guidelines for full bloom. again, still have to dilute the nutrient mix by more than half to get proper ec.
day 77: noticed more and more pistels changing to a nice orangey brown and also the buds overall are putting on weight
day 81: end of week 6 since 12/12. about 30 days since first pistils started appearing. hairs are changing to brown rapidly, not sure if this one kept the traits of fast flowering from its auto genetics. seems to be racing towards the finish. could be done at 50 days of flower if it keeps it up.
gotta admit i'm getting pretty excited but a little nervous at the same time. Every grow i've done in the past (all outdoor) have been hit by mold. I'm keeping the humidity kinda low, the air circulation up, and keeping my fingers crossed. The main cola is getting pretty thick and i would hate to lose it again
Day 85: I've decided to start the flushing portion of the grow she looks like she's approaching full ripeness and hopefully with a seven day flush she will be just about right.
Day 88: started to really flush today. I was still adding some calimagic up to now not realizing it had nitrogen in it, but there shouldn't be any harm done. I still have about 4 days to go and since she is in coco, the ro water should still provide an adequate flush. She's also going to be doing a strip tease for you in the next couple of days so you can get a good look at those buds hiding under all that Bush.
Day 89: 4th day of flushing. Current ec of runoff is .35. The leaves have not started to turn yet. Dropped the lights on hours to 11. I've read in some one else's journal that this strain can foxtail and reducing the hours can help. I'm seeing what looks like the start of one on the main cola.
Day 91: definateley a little foxtail going on at the top. Switched out my leds for cfls for the next couple of days which will be her last. Hopefully that will stop any further growth. Trimmed off 90% of the large fan leaves just a few small onesleft around the tops of each bud.
What a great plant. A little disappointed it didn't auto for me, but I'm pretty happy with the finished plant. Very resistant to stress. I had a couple other plant varieties that didn't make it through this cycle without problems. Not sure what to think about her genetics, it kept the photoperiod trait, but will it keep the photoperiod potency? or will it be slightly less because of the ruderalis genes?
Well they seem to be cured perfectly now. The smoke is smooth and the stone is great. I wish the flowers smelled a bit stronger but they're certainly not bad at all. Very piney and earthy. The stone is very relaxing and sleepy but at the same time mentally stimulating in a creative way. I'm very happy with my yield and I have more than enough to last a long time. The weights listed include all the trim and popcorn buds as they are useful. I have made a batch of edible oil with it and it really just knocks you out.
Its not without its cons, but its been easier than the handful of outdoor grows i've done here in ontario canada. summers can be to hot and humid and fall to cold and still to humid, which of course has led to mold issues. its nice to be able to control its environment and its food supply. pretty hands on but i like checking on my garden everyday anyways. I've also got to give some credit to cocoforcannabis.com which i think has saved me from a few of the pitfalls of this medium.
@Dboy1990, for my first indoor grow, in a small small space with cheap lights, I consider it respectable. I appreciate @iGrowZ comment, and appreciate the supportive community we have here on grow diaries. We cant all be rock stars. You do your thing and I'll do mine.
