Grow_for_Happiness Well here we are again! This time around we are doing Kushberry, a cross of blueberry and OG kush. Both strains I really enjoy, and they were also my first two strains grown indoors.
Seeds in soil on March 4th and two pushed through morning of the 8th. No sign of third by the 10th so figured I would pop another one, open the seed pack and there's still three left out of five! Turns out I never put the third seed in the hole hahahaha. Must have got distracted. So today is the 12th hoping she pushes through next few days. The two who have made it through seem healthy so far.*
Picked up a new humidifier from AC Infinity, so far very efficient and nice to have it outside the tent. Added a custom port (secret jardin) for the hose pass through so can be properly closed to keep light out. Was super easy to install, way better than putting a hole in the screening or the tent itself.
Pots were soaked with 4L each of the water nutrient mix (until runoff) and plants should not have to be watered now for the next 2-3 weeks once the Autopot system is turned on.
*Third pushed through today on March 13. Already looking healthy with leaves starting.

Grow_for_Happiness Week one is come and gone already! All the girls are looking healthy so far. Teo plants working on their second set of leaves and other a few days behind. Oscillating fan on 1 just for a very light breeze. New humidifier really has environment locked in, happy with how this round is starting!

Grow_for_Happiness Here we are on Day 21 from seed and these girls are taking off! Not much height growth this week but they really widened out, and by Day 19 we had the Autopot system turned on for the back two pots. Nice healthy looking, good colour, quite happy so far.
Cranked the lights up to 70% and lowered to 24" getting a nice 450 umol/s now. Environment has been probably the most steady I've ever had it, this new humidifier is really doing a good job. Can set a target humidity and then a buffer and the humidifier will keep it right in range. Well worth the 💯 CAD. Really like how all the AC Infinity stuff links together, way better than back in the day running a seperate controller per device.
Excited to watch the plant explosion this upcoming week not that system is on 😁

Grow_for_Happiness So far life is going quite well for these girls. They've been on the feed for 9 days now and they have doubled in size. Leaf colour and plant structure looking great, good spacing between branches with no training as of yet. So far so good, and with environment being even more dialed in than previous grows I'm excited to see what is to come 😁.

Grow_for_Happiness Another good week this week! Gave the girls a good cleanup mid week, removing lower 3 sets of fan leaves and inner most growth from each branch. At the same time tied down branches, leaf tucked, and bent tops. Lots more airflow inside the plants now, and really the bottom stuff goes nowhere so good to get rid of it before the pre-flower stretch. Girls grew 5-6" in height and have a nice filled out canopy already. Hard to tell where the tops are, plants are mostly leveled out. Will aim to keep them this way as they stretch to maximize light uniformity. Speaking of stretch, should see some this week as each plant is showing strong signs of flower starting!
Lights are now at 18" and hitting 560-600 umol/s, as stretch starts will adjust them every day at lights out to start at 18". During stretch I am usually moving the light 2-3" per day.
Let's sit back and watch the forest grow!

Grow_for_Happiness Seems like just yesterday we were popping these beans and here we are at the end of the first week of flower already! The front plant got her first defoliation and round of LST this week. Removed all inner foliage that was going nowhere and spread her out a bit better. Back right plant had a few new toes added to flatten out the canopy and removed maybe 10-12 fan leaves that were buried low on the middle that I missed first round. Back left plant had just small toe adjustments and 5-6 leaves removed. Not as much stretch as I've had the last few rounds, but could still see some good gains in the next week or two.
This strain has been a bit slower progressing through its stages but still coming along really nicely. Temps have been a touch lower than normal now that the heat in the house isn't running asuch with spring on its way, so maybe that's part of the cause as well. Usually around 27°C and this week has been at 25°C. Light being set to 18" and 600-650umol/s at start of each day, with UV running 40 minutes per day mid cycle.

Grow_for_Happiness So another week has passed and while the girls are doing mainly good there is a heavy yellowing/spotting going on. Started on the back left plant early week, by mid week also on the back right, and end of week showing on front plant. Not sure if I accidently double dosed one of the nutrients on res change early week, started seeing signs shortly after so would make sense. Could also be lack of calcium/magnesium, because in past adding Calmag has helped. So I changed the res out last night and pushed the Calmag to 10ml (usual) for 16L refill and dialed the base nutes back to 30ml (35ml usual) for 16L refill. Also turned the UV lights back to 30 minutes a day from 45 to help not stress the plants and give them time to recover. Hopefully by next week we will see a positive change! 🤞
Otherwise girls didn't shoot up much at all, gained maybe 4". I think it may be a shorter strain (?) but could also be from the stress that's causing the yellowing, if conditions aren't perfect hard to grow monsters.
Adjusted the ties throughout the week and spread out/flattened the back right and front left more at the beginning of week.

Grow_for_Happiness Still seeing dying off of leaves and what appears to be either lockout due to too much PK at beginning of flower, or nutrient burn in general. Leaves start with burnt tips curling upwards and quickly progress to crispy dying leaves. So I've removed all the additives and running only the base nutrients at a lower than normal level and B52 just for the added vitamins. Have seen the back left slowly recovering, but the other two plants still seem to be struggling. Lights are at optimal height delivering about 650umol/s and have turned off the UV bars for last week or so. Trying to minimize stress and really get them happy again. Had a controller malfunction early week that I was lucky to be home to catch. Turns out that the T3 humidifier has some known issues, one of which is that if it has issues it can mess with all the other devices on the controller. It was causing my inline fans to not be properly detected and not run right. Unplugged the humidifier and problem solved. Ran on its own without controller for a day or two before fully crapping out. Will be contacting AC I Infinity as it's only 6 weeks old! Not super impressed especially since their other equipment seems quite good.
Really hoping to see a turn around this week, at this point I know yield will be affected just hoping to still get some good bud even if less than normal.

Grow_for_Happiness Fingers crossed and knock on wood but I think things are starting to look better with this grow. Still not drinking a lot but water intake has increased a bit, and the yellowing seems to have stopped on the back left plant, which is sporting some nice looking stanky buds. Very purple/grape smell. Removed a bunch of crispy dead leaves off front and back right plant, and they both have a lot of yellowing still but it seems to have slowed/stopped, and have not seen any dying leaves in past few days whereas last week noticed a new one or two every few days.
Hoping things continue to improve and we get a nice flavour profile. Yield will be smaller than usual, but my bad for overfeeding at transition period and locking them out. No matter how much you grow mistakes still happen, all part of the learning process.
