After germination on paper towel, I planted Ginger Punch Auto into the soil (day 0) and she successfully sprouted about 36 hours later. I have started with 200w MH.
I have to be away from day 3 to day 8. The is soil is still moist and I hope she'll be ok until I get back.
Soil: Biobizz lightmix
Pots: 7 gal fabric pots
Tent: 80x80x180 cm (2.5'x2.5'x6')
Veg Light: MH - GE Kolorarc 93029234 - 400W- 26000 lm - 7500K
Flo Light: HPS - GE Lucalox 97240 - 400W - 56200 lm - 2000K
I'm back and everything seem ok except the soil is really dry. I transplanted Ginger Punch to another pot because she's been sharing her pot with another auto strain so far.
Day 8 - Watered with plain water.
Day 10 - Slightly watered with compost tea (micro mix & brewed worm casting+bat guano). Lowered the light and raised the power a bit (about 300w)
Day 13 - Watered with compost tea.
Day 15 - She looks nice and healthy. Watered with compost from last week.
Day 17 - Watered with compost tea. I got a humidifier so it's easier to manage RH now.
Day 18 - Started LST. I don't have plant twist tie so I'm gonna use teflon tape which is perfect for this and clothes pegs.
Day 19 - Just PH'd & aerated plain water. I have always watered partially (only around the main stem) so far since she is in a big pot for her current size.
Day 20 - Watered with the new nutrient mix. 0.5 l . Defoliated only one fan leaf blocking newborn nodes.
She's just started flowering 😊I started the week with compost tea which is my favourite. You can find my simple recipe below.
End of the week: She's becoming a big girl just like her sister :) Nicely stretched along the week. I have experienced pH fluctuation first time and understood how important it is. Young leaves' tips and edges were slightly turning into yellow and some chlorosis showed up between veins. I guess they're signs of PK burn or Cal-Mag deficiency stems from low pH.
Day 22 - I watered with fresh compost tea at the end of the day. I added molasses and G.O Grow to the tea this time. Also made a light defoliation only on the main stem.
Day 24 - Switched to HPS bulb. Watered with aerated nutrient mix + bat guano.
Day 25 - Keep going with very selective defoliation. It was a rainy day here and I collected a bucket of sweet rain water at ph 6.8 😋
Day 27 - Watered with 1 l. aerated nutrient mix (1ml/l CalMag+1.5ml/l Root plus+1.5ml/l Seaweed+1ml/l Bloom+1ml/l Bud). CalMag contains N enough so I didn't add any Grow nutrient. PH'd with baking soda.
Day 28 - Foliar spray with 1.75 ml/l Cal-Mag solution.
Compost tea recipe:
10 ml/l dry worm casting
5 ml/l dry bat guano
2ml/l G.O Root plus
1.75 ml/l G.O. Seaweed
0.25 ml/l AN Sensi Calmag Xtra
0.25 ml/l G.O BioThrive Grow
0.5 Tsp/l organic molasses
36 hours brewing at 23-24 C
Day 30 - After the soil dried, I watered with plain water at pH 7 and tested pH of runoff water, and it was 6.5. This result really relieved me since I won't have to adjust pH or flush my soil.
Day 31 - Wow she grew enormously overnight. She liked plain water apparently.
Day 33 - Just plain water.
Day 35 - Watered with nutrient mix (0.5 ml/l G.O. Thrive Bloom, 0.5 ml/l A.N. Sensi Cal-Mag Xtra, 1 ml/l G.O Bud, 1 ml/l G.O. Seaweed)
I was really careful when defoliating so far and the plant is really bushy now. Should I remove big leaves blocking lower colas for more light penetration at this stage, or should I wait for stretching to end?
Hey BlueRaincoat! Yes at this point you can defoliate if you need/want to just be careful when doing so to not take off to much or any potential bud sites as it can affect yield. You can also try to tuck or bend some of the fan leaves out of the way to let some light through. or do a mix of both defoliation and tuck/bend them away and you wouldn't have to take as much off. Hope this helps Happy Growing👊
Yellowing in young leaves' tips seems slow down, but now the old leaves are turning into yellow and dying. Since she's in 3rd week of flowering, I guess it's more likely because of magnesium deficiency because it has started as interveinal chlorosis on the old leaves and continued with yellowing and dying. It started in the middle of flowering so less chance to be N deficiency than Mg.
I have to left the plants alone at home a few days. It's day 40, soil is still moist, I put a few pots filled with water into the tent to keep humidity as high as possible after the humidifier's water has finished. We'll see what's gonna happen.
Day 37 - Watered with 1.5 ml/l Cal-Mag only.
Day 39 - At the end of the day, watered with nutrient mix (2.5 ml/l Cal-Mag, 1 ml/l G.O Bloom, 1 ml/l G.O Bud)
Day 40 - Foliar spray with 2.5 ml/l Cal-Mag
Unfortunately I had to be away from home from Day 41 to Day 45, and found my girls pretty thirsty and unhappy. Most of leaves are partly or completely yellow. I watered them with plain water immediately. I hope they can handle this and it won't cause a significant lowering at yield.
Day 45 - Watered with plain water.
Day 48 - I think she needs a special treatment. I prepared compost tea (nutrients in the chart + 0.5 tbsp/l dry worm casting, 0.5 tbsp/l dry bat guano, 0.5 tsp/l molasses brewed for 24 hours at 23-24 C at pH 6.7) and watered her with it.
Day 49 - Trimmed all dead and completely yellow leaves and covered the top of the soil with them to keep it moist for little bit longer.
This lady is getting more frosty day by day and she has a really nice smell. Pistils are slowly turning into amber. Trichomes are still clear. I think 2 or 3 more weeks will be enough for a great final product.
Day 52 - Watered with 5 ml/l Cal-Mag, 0.5 ml/l G.O Bloom, 1 ml/l G.O. Bud at pH 6.5
Day 53 - Plants seem exhausted and I think it's because of 24 hours light schedule. So I decided to switch it into 20 hours light and 4 hours dark for the rest of the grow. Also, shortening light time at late flowering is closer to natural conditions so maybe it helps them produce more trichomes and denser buds, at least I hope so :)
Day 55 - Watered with 3.5 ml/l Cal-Mag, 2 ml/l G.O Bloom, 2 ml/l G.O. Bud at pH 6.7
We are so close to the end. Some amber trichomes appeared.
Day 58 - Watered with 3 ml/l Cal-Mag, 2 ml/l G.O. Bud, 1 ml/l G.O. Bloom at pH 6.5
Day 61 - Just plain water with 30% runoff.
Day 63 - Harvest on 4/20 😍
After 10 days of drying at 19-22 C and 50-60% RH, buds are ready to be cured. I think more light and controlled conditions would have a better effect on the final yield. I couldn't get big colas but I can't complain it. It was an educational process and I really enjoyed it.
Plants looking Great👌👊 Keep up the great work! I hope I was able to help and if you have any other ?'s don't hesitate to message me and ask Happy Growing😎
