Spring fling grow, Barney's Farm Blueberry OG and Nirvana Hawaii Maui Waui.
Vegging and cloning under 315W CMH and Flowering under 1000w HPS.
Let the games begin!
Reusing coco from a previous grow. Im seeing that the medium is going to need a boost of active enzymes, I'll start that this week and add a bit of cal - mag as well.
Buffered coco with 150% Cal-Mag and transplanted to 5g pots. 4th and 5th nodes are sprouting, guessing I'll top them mid week. The Barney's Blueberry OG looks great and is growing fast.
Blueberry OG grew so fast this week I could hear it. I actually had to prune off a few fan leaves because they were so big they were blocking out too much light. This weekend I'll remove the 315W, install the 1000W HPS and switch to 12/12. Here comes the sun.
Day 14 from 12/12, plants are filling out nicely. I've been keeping the night time temps lower and using a vented hood for the 1000w is really helping these plants are staying nice and bushy with tight nodes. This weekend I'll do some serious pruning, might root a few clippings for a second go at these two strains. Looking forward to the next few weeks.
After defoliating both a little this week the blueberry og had a nice burst of white hairs pop out all over. The BOG seems to be a good full week ahead of the Maui but who cares both are very healthy and didn't seem to mind the bending or pruning. Looking forward to the next few weeks. Also managed to get all most 2 dozen clones all alive and healthy.
Big spurt of bud development this week. Barney's Farm Blueberry OG is really starting to come on this week and the Maui is starting to fill in nicely. A little more stretch this week but not enough to cause alarm. These look like they are going to form really nice dense bud. They are also chugging water, especially the Maui. The pots are completely dry in 24 hours. I might up the volume of water slightly but for now I'm pleased with the water uptake. No signs of nute burn or deficiencies. Might do a second defoliation this week to prep them for a hands off month of filling out and finishing. Cheers!
I think someone is sneaking into the grow room and injecting the Blueberry OG with roids. Packing on the weight this week. The Maui is surprising me with the amount of water she can drink. A gallon every day and by the following day you'd think she wasn't watered in a week. Super healthy grow so far, can't wait to see what another week does. Side note: I was going to defoliate a bit this week but they were doing so well I wanted to let them get in a stress free week.
Fairly mundane week. The Maui is still drinking water like a camel and the Blueberry OG slowed on the weight gaining a bit while the Maui has been slowly marching forward. In roughly 12 days we'll hit day 55, Barney's Farms tentative harvest date. Looking forward to seeing where I am in comparison, Other than that not much to report, smoke em' if you got em'.
Turns out I was a few days off in last weeks diary update, as of this update they are both on day 47. The Maui is showing weird blotches and brown spots on some of the fan leaves, not bad enough to worry me but enough for me to take notice. Although, at this stage of the game as long as it doesn't get worse I'm not going to worry too much about it. The Blueberry OG's trichs are clouding up nicely, probably 10 to 15% amber. The buds aren't getting larger but they are getting denser. Think the BOG will be getting flushed sometime next week. The Maui is definitely going to take another week or two. Starting to get anxious and I'm really looking forward to hanging these girls upside down.
The Hawaii Maui Wowie feels like she gained 30% more bud density just this week, crazy weight gain. The Blueberry OG is at day 56 and all trichs are cloudy, hard to find any amber ones though. I seemed to develop a pH drop in the coco and the runoff is in the low low 5's it's led to some lock out but luckily hasn't affected the buds. The BOG was going straight H2O from here on out anyways so its whatever. The Maui will get water til I see a change in runoff and might not even get back on the nutes this late in the game and if so they'll be very light. I'm hoping the BOG can finish off this week. Getting anxious!
Been flushing the Maui Wowie for a week now. Trichs are all cloudy and about 5-10% are a light amber. I'm hoping to give her the axe this weekend but unfortunately that's not up to me. On a side note, it's been a while since I grew under a 1000w HPS and the days of kolas the size of beer cans, well, these tasty girls won't fit in a wide mouth peanut butter jar OR a wide mouth 1 quart mason jar. These are the kind of problems you want to have. Muhahahaha!
Annnnnnd.........DONE! Last weekend I found the top 1/2" of the largest kola was starting to show slight signs of bud rot or bud mold, just a tiny hint of brown but that was all it took for me to give this plant the axe about 4-5 days sooner than I expected. She's been hanging in 25% RH with a fan and today was finally dry enough to trim up. Finished up with just over 5 oz and I'm expecting to lose another 1/2 ounce of weight to burping jars. Not the 8 ounces I was expecting, but after missing my window for my flowering stage defoliation I have no one to blame but myself and I'm not all that concerned I won't be setting any records for yield on this plant. So all in all easy grow and 5 oz is nothing to scoff at for a painless grow.
This plant crushed it in the final 3 weeks. I let the soil pH get too low towards the end and I gave her straight water for the final 2 weeks. Otherwise very easy grow, super manageable stretch period that any new grower can handle, and as a bonus she threw massive buds. Great grow, thanks for stopping by and checking it out
