Grow_for_Happiness Slower start for these ladies but it's been a while so nice I've ✅ me photos and I remember them being a bit slower to take off than autos. Looking healthy and good colour, starting fourth set of leaves so fed them at end of week. Only fed once a week and water inbetween if needed with Reefertilizer so pretty simple. Sad in pics but needed water will add some happier looking pics tomorrow after lights on.

Grow_for_Happiness Girls got transplanted into three gallon fabric pots mid week. Roots were crazy and could tell they wanted more space. Used HP Pro mix and buffed with water and Reefertilizer grow. Looked happy next day, love the nursery bags rarely ever any transplant shock. Removed the bottom two sets of leaves and branches from each plant. Looking a little sad in pics but just because it's only an hour from lights out and like me they get tired a bit early hahaha

Grow_for_Happiness So far so good, these girls have been enjoying the indoor start to life and over the next week or so will be preparing for their big trip to the outdoor garden. Looking like the PH is slightly off as seeing some lightening of the leaf edges near the upper part of the plant, had to order a new PH pen as mine is 3 years old and can't calibrate anymore. I'm sure they'll survive until then haha. No work to speak of this week, just light leaf tucking and removal of lowest branches.

Grow_for_Happiness Good week for these girls. Colour is back to looking healthy, just a slight leaf lightening but should correct that this week now that I have replaced my PH pen probe. Otherwise good structure and they are growing well even with the once a week feedings. So far these Reefertilizer nutrients are doing the job, and nice only mixing one nutrient once a week. Keeping up with leaf tucking and leaf/inner branch removal. Should be all ready to head outdoors in two weeks. Cold front moved in this week highs only 12°C lows 4°C so we're keeping them indoors a week longer than usual. That's ok, all the vegetables are in the tempo greenhouse now so lots of tent space for the ladies. Let's hope for warmer temps soon 🤞

Grow_for_Happiness These girls are getting huge! Looks like we may be out of the cold nights, big storm next few days but hope to get them outside after that. Pots are filled and ready for them just need weather to cooperate. Better happen soon cause the one plant running out of room quick! She's aiming to be a monster. Defoliation early week and they're filled right back in by the end. Looking sad in pics because was right before watering and am giving them good drybacks.

Grow_for_Happiness Still not in the ground for the past week because it's been 5 days of rain and temps 14°C daytime and 5°C night time. But today is the day! Or so I thought, went down to get them and oops they got too dry so will plant tomorrow after work to let them destress. Forecast looking good from tonight onward, some rain Thursday but hey it's gonna rain. I figure a day or two of nice 25-30°C and they'll be back to happy and hearty enough to endure the crappy days. Planting in 40 gallon fabric pots with the local yards garden mix soil. Have used in past with great results, nice and airy feeling so stick with what ya know!

Grow_for_Happiness Finally the day arrived! Been in the ground a week now and they're adjusted well to their new 40 gallon pots and loving the fresh air. Had their first thunderstorm two nights ago and they made it through like champs. Hoping for more sun than rain, but hey guess don't have to water on rain days! Feeding once a week 24L of nutrient mixed water, PH to 7.0.

Grow_for_Happiness Great week, weather was gorgeous highs around 20-22°C and lows down to a chilly 8°C some nights. Only one day or rain maybe 5mm, with one watering from the hose mid week and a 12L watering each of nutrient mix. Girls are looking great with noticable growth this week, and the big plant pushing the five foot mark! They're greeting every day with arms raised to the sun and are withstanding the wind gusts quite well, no breakage yet and stalks are thickening up quick. The smaller plant has visitors every morning and evening this week. One of the robins and her two young (out of nest a few days) has taken to doing her feedings in the pot underneath the cover of the canopy. It's quite endearing to see, glad nature is enjoying the plants around.

Grow_for_Happiness Another week, another impressive amount of growth! Getting quite bushy so I gave them a defoliation two days ago. Removed two most inner leaf/branch sets from every main arm on the plant save the top three set of arms. Looking much more airy now and ready to battle the hot humid weather. Which is good, because the last three days have been 34°C feels like 45°C with humidity at 85%. Girls are getting a full watering with the hose every 36 hours to keep up with the heat. Otherwise once a week feedings with the Reefertilizer Grow. Looking great though, despite starting every day just soaked in condensation. Gonna be one of those years I think!

Grow_for_Happiness Another hot humid week with temps hovering around 34°C feels like 45°C aside from two days in the high 20's with no humidity. Soaking the girls every two to three days and still the once a week feedings. Looking nice and airy after the pruning last week, with good growth and seeming to make a full recovery. Plants are starting to get big! Gonna need the trusty ladder to reach the top soon!

Grow_for_Happiness Hot, humid and stormy AF was a good way to describe the past week. Daytime highs were 25-30°C (feeling like 35-40°C) with almost daily thunderstorms in the evenings. Heavy winds, downpours and even a bit of hail to spice up the mix! The girls stood their ground and weathered it all. But then again when you have legs like these two it's hard to get knocked down. Stalk and branches are all thickening up nicely, hoping this means will be able to handle the bud load without netting this year 🤞. Watering every 48 hours and feeding once a week with Reefertilizer Grow. Regular waterings are soaking the pots with a garden hose for a good 3-4 minutes each, and feedings are 12L of nutrient mix on Fridays. Probably have to do a defoliation this week before these girls push into flower, the insides are getting quite dense. Happy growing!

Grow_for_Happiness Feeling like a broken record, but was another hot (32°C) , humid (42°C) week with random heavy thunderstorms, and one day below 30°C. I guess all the wild weather is making the girls pretty strong though, cause the trunks are getting large and starting to form bark already! Gonna be some sturdy big plants. Japanese beetles started showing up so put out the trap about 15' upwind and no more issues, aside from the trap is almost full after only a few days! Otherwise nice easy week, watering every 2 days, soaking each plant for 3 minutes with hose on 3/4 strength shower. When feeding had to substitute Ibex nutrients this week, as I ran out of the Reefertilizer Grow and with maybe one more week until flower didn't want to order more. Plus had the ibex sitting on a shelf from the 2023 grow cup winners package so figured why not use it up. Only enough for two feedings but won't need more than that, then back to Reefertilizer Bloom for flower stage.

Grow_for_Happiness Looks like the last week of veg has just passed! Sure signs of flower now. Another feeding of the ibex nutrients and back to Reefertilizer Bloom next week for the flower feeding 🙂. Cooler week and quite windy, girls are strengthening up quite well and took the strong winds like champs. Did a good defoliation early week hollowing out the center and getting rid of anything that wasn't really growing (ie shaded stunted growth). No shock and noticable growth after. Can't wait to start to see these girls popping off!

Grow_for_Happiness Well the quest to stay natural and not trellis ended this week hahaha. Had a good windstorm early week and had a few branches break on other plants I'm growing, so figured better trellis now before the buds come in. The girls were dry so dragged them up onto plastic pallets, have great air circulation and makes it easy to build a frame out of 2x2x10 wood. Speaking of buds, I've switched to Bloom nutrients now, back to Reefertilizer once a week feeding of 12L solution. Have had quite the heatwave this week with daily highs pushing 33°C feels like 43°C so the girls are drinking heavily. Am watering every day with hose on soak for 2 minutes per plant. Soil is just about dry daily with droop just starting at very top of plants. Could water every day and a half but that doesn't work out well with life schedule so just doing daily. Girls are doing great overall, hoping for another good week ahead.

Grow_for_Happiness Well here efe we are, week one of flower! Girls are looking great and well adjusted to their trellis, just in need of a bit of a defoliation. Weather was nicer this week, highs around 30°C with little to no humidity. Means watering every two days instead of every three, but three minutes per plant now so they're not too dry come day two. Otherwise not much was going on this week so it's a bit of a shorter journal entry. Nothing wrong with that, gotta enjoy these summer days while they last!

Grow_for_Happiness Busy week this week, both in the garden and in life, hence the later update than usual. Early week gave the girls a good leaf stripping on the inside of the plants. Also removed any scraggly growth that was not getting any sun. As usual really helped open them up to more airflow and light penetration. At start couldn't even see the sun through them! Next day both looked great with no visible signs of stress. Now I'll say it was a VERY hot week this week, daytime highs 32°C feeling like 42°C with 90% humidity and the girls were thirsty AF, dropping heavy every night, . Watering every evening, hose on full soaker setting for 3 minutes per plant, roughly 35 liters of water each! Even with all the water, the bigger plant was looking sad, and I had a sneaking suspicion that it just did not have enough root space. So I tuned into my inner MacGyver again, and came up with a solution. Using no nails or screws, I was able to fashion a 3x3 bed for her! All thanks to growing on plastic skids. Just slid 2x4 PT into the slots in a 3x3 square, and then slid 1/2" PT sheet (cut to size) on the inside of the wood. Afterwords cut the fabric pot, and lay it down to make the perfect base inside the new bed to prevent soil from coming out. Topped it up with three wheel barrow of garden soil that I had left from the spring load, watered and hoped my idea worked. The next day, she's looking happier than ever, and I haven't seen a droopy leaf on her since! Now she's really ready to bring on some serious bud weight. Mentioning that, I also added the second layer of horizontal trellis, as well as vertical trellis around the smaller plant. Temps look cooler for the next two weeks, and not much of any rain forecast, even though we desperately need it. At least with forecast being 25°C highs and 10°C lows the girls should slow down on water intake, trying to conserve where we can right now but got a keep them fed. Until next week!

Grow_for_Happiness Finally the heat wave has broken and we are back to much more normal temperatures 🎉. This time of year that means daytime around 26° and nights around 10-15° with little to no humidity. Gotta say though, the girls loved the 40°C and 95%RH during veg but the seasonal temps much better for this stage of life. Down to watering every 2.5-3 days now that it's not so hot. The larger plant is now flourishing in its new, bigger 3x3x18" planter. No droopy leaves and colour is looking great. Smaller plant still looks happy, gets thirsty a little before the others but when watered it does pick back up for a day or so, usually indicating that it's on a good sized pot. Otherwise very easy week, little to no work aside from watering and the once a week feeding.

Grow_for_Happiness Missed posting last week because life was busy but we're back this week, although a few days late! The girls are in full flower now and just loving life. Temps have come down to a more seasonal range so watering are now every 3-3.5 days. The larger of the two has a nice deep green and probably the most healthy looking of the plants. Towering 105" from the huge trunk at the base she is starting to produce nice sized buds. The smaller plant is looking good, around 80" tall, but a little unhappy. Lighter colour and droops earlier, pretty sure she just wishes for a larger fabric pot, guess 35 gallon isn't enough for her. Have moved to feeding twice a week to try and combat the yellowing and dropping of the leaves, see if makes a difference next week. I'm thinking next year it's 36"x36"x18" beds instead, or maybe a 60 gallon fabric pot if I can find em for a good price. Oh, and the smell on these girls ls is quite noticable from the moment you step out my back door, about 100' away. Neighbors are gonna be complaining about "that skunk" again this year hahahahaha.

Grow_for_Happiness As the cold night are upon us the girls are fattening up and putting on their best fall colours. Seeing lots of leaves starting to go purple on the smaller plant while the larger is for no still a healthy deep green. Maybe with these cold nights early in flower we will see some pretty good colours 🤞. Smaller plant got a good leaf cleanup early on the week, she really needed it and it looking much happier afterwards. Ran out of time will be defoliating the larger one tomorrow. Switched the nutrients to Nutes Nutrients, only because I ran out of Reefertilizer and didn't want to buy more when I had spare nutrients on the basement. They seem happy with the change, maybe feeding a touch heavy will fail back to feed, feed, water instead of feeding every time. Water is roughly every 3 days right now 24L at a time per plant. A month or less to go now, let's get to that finish line!

Grow_for_Happiness As the temps continue to stay cool overnight the girls also continue to pack on weight. Noticable size increase with the buds starting to stack together. These girls look like there will be BIG buds come the end. Supposed to be 8-10 week flower I'm thinking 3 maybe 4 weeks but we shall see. Only work this week was finally cleaning up the larger of the two plants. Took 1.5 hours but she's looking a lot more airy now. Looked nice and healthy with no noticable issues. Here's to hoping we keep on track and see these two beauties through the next few weeks!
