Started 2 Dwarf Low Fliers, Crop King seeds. Wanted something to finish faster than my intended harvest of the Black Indicas I'm also growing. Hoping for a mid-May harvest on these two ladies. Went ahead and transplanted into 1 gallon pots, using Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil. Not planning on doing much other than follow Fox Farms feeding schedule, and SCROGG'ing as these are autos. Still getting stretch on sprouts, need to investigate this for next grow. Anyways, enjoy!
After transplanting, put these girls under 120 watts CFL for 3 days to help them adjust and root. They've not each grown a half-inch, and have started showing next leaf set, so under the big light they go.
Seeing some growth vertically, more horizontally. 1st round of fertilization, Fox Farms (of course!). Might have been too strong, see strange leaf anomaly on DLF 3 - only on the one leaf, thank goodness! After researching, went to 18/6 lighting today. Using 100% red plus 100% blue for approx. 1/3 of daily light time. 1000 watt LED approx. 18" away.
Week 4 - transplanted both DLF plants into 2 gallon fabric pots. on 4/11/19, did final defoliation and first watering of Fox Farms Week 1 Flowering fertilizer mix. Both plants look healthy, but are small - 6" and 7" respectively. 6 weeks to go!
Gonna have to call these girls Stretch Armstrongs! Both are now approx. 15" tall. Pictures came out weird, phone was on power-save mode. Several bud sites per plant though. These plants are hopefully going to give me a little smoke while other grow finishes, so I'm not too worried about massive yields, just want some yummy smoke! Again, Fox Farms nutrients are the only way to go - have not had any issues at all with these sisters!
Jury is still out on the auto-flower varieties, or at least this specific strain. DLF-3 has small buds with a lot of red hairs - I'm hoping she plumps up in the next week. DLF-4 is covered in crystals, looks like she was dipped in sugar. Be interesting to see what happens over the next week.
Went ahead and cut DLF 3, she was definitely ready as most pistals were orange and about 50% of trichomes were amber. DLF 4 continues to ripen, probably go another week or two.
Just about done for this girl. Buds are small, but covered in crystals. Gonna flush, let dry, and cut. Not expecting much of a harvest, but it's better than what I have now, lol!
DLF 3 had barely a gram after all was said and done; DLF 4 ended up with a little over 4 grams of dried bud (OK, I have smoked a little bit, but not more than a gram) and another 4 grams of frosty trim. Smoke is curing nicely, tasty smoking! Willing to try auto-flowers again, but photo-period plants have grown so much bigger (another Crop King Seeds strain - Black Indica).
I'm no pro, but it looks like your ladies are looking for more light. Stretching a little much, pull that light down a few more inches for more bud, or add another light :)
