SpinachMonster19 Having some fun with stinky beans, possibly doing some breeding if I find some A+ phenos. Three mystery seeds from DNA Genetics mix pack. We will find out together. Germinated 5 seeds in toilet paper and a sandwich bag. Laid them on the window on Thursday the 10th, all 5 seeds split with tails when inspected Friday afternoon (11th). Moved from TP to Coast of Main Seed Island Blend soil in Cowpots, ACI Large Germination kit. Aiming for ~75°F. No might green power punches out of the soil yet by Saturday the 12th. Sun 13) This is my first time using seed soil and I may have drown two of the mystery seeds not realizing how much this stuff holds water. TC broke the surface, and I have visual on KD and M1. M2 and M3 are a mystery if they survived before I could remediate the soil. 🤞😬🤞 Mon 14) TC is showing off while M1 is just breaking the surface. KD is not far behind. No sign of M2 or M3 yet, but I haven’t lost hope given these 3 survived the flood.

SpinachMonster19 I’ll probably spend a couple more days in the incubator, Especially M2. M3 is officially MIA, so 4/5 made it to veg from germ. I’ve added a very light sprinkle of Great White Myco, and Bonide Rooting powder to give a small boost to the baby roots. If anyone has experience with a seed shell that won’t let go, I would appreciate the input! Edit: couldn’t find a way to respond to question answers, so if you were someone who shared TYVM! Regarding wet media, yes it’s because I’ve been basically trying the drop-of-water method already, but a spoon and unsteady hands lol I’m going to add some air-dry media to help wick away some water. And I found a blunt syringe that I can be more accurate with. Appreciate everyone!

Grow Questions

M2 has a stuck seed shell that she is struggling against, I’m guessing that is what took her so long to break the surface. Do you think she will be fine? I’m nervous to go in for surgery considering she’s survived till now…

Hey there that’s a great question I don’t think I have seen that asked here before Yes you can do surgery and Ty and get the shell off but that has so many risk like damage or giving it different viruses from contact who knows where your hands go throughout a day I know a simple an easy trick to get the shell off If you get a spray bottle or a water dropper just something you can get single drops of water to come out of You then drop or spray a couple drops of water on the shell that won’t come off For shells that are really stuck on there I will keep putting a couple drops on it every few hours for a day or so that should rehidrate the shell and the membrane underneath and help it slip out of the shell Also keep it mind it is completely fine and normal that the seedling pops a few inches out if the soil b4 the shell comes off. As long as the shell comes off by the end off week 1 of sprouting out of the soil it should not damage the plant Now if you leave the shell stuck on there for over a week it can cause stunted growth for a few weeks and even kill it sometimes if it doesn’t come off at all
