Switched to 12/12. The plants are hungry, so I’m pumping as much organic food as I can into them. I’m adjusting the ph of my nutrients to 6.5. I’m using kelp based foliar sprays to get a good stack... I’ll discontinue foliar feeding when flowers start forming. I sprayed with neem oil every other day for the last week of veg.
yield looks promising from all the bud sites. I’ll feed liquid bone meal and Bio Flores for another week or two. Then I’ll switch to Roots Organics HPK for the last half of flower. I like Bio Flores for the k and tad bit of n, but is deficient in p and too acidic, hence the liquid bone meal and ph up. For the last half of flower I’m not using anything with nitrogen. I want my plants to become deficient in n as soon as I harvest. I think n in flower leads to too much grass/hay smell in drying.
May have over done the nutes, so just ph’d water and enzymes for the next feeding or two. Then I’m switching to Roots Organic HPK. 4 more weeks until I harvest Mama Mia.
Last week I noticed the tips of the leaves were burned, so this week was mostly ph’d water and enzymes. I fed a mild fertilizer called Roots Organic HPK which is 0-4-3. It is made of guano and langbeinite. Everything else is the same as last week.
Scored some solution grade organic fertilizers and blasted my plants. I fed solution grade langbeinite (0-0-21.5) and loaded with sulfur and magnesium. I found some liquid bone meal (0-12-0) and loaded with calcium. Another new nute is solution grade azomite, aka the a-z of minerals... it is the ash from an ancient volcano mixed with an ancient ocean water in Utah. I’ll feed those new nutes once per week as they’re kinda hot. Otherwise everything is the same as previous weeks.
There’s no amber trichomes on Mama Mia and I’m thinking of growing a little longer than the breeder suggests. Northern Lights trichomes are starting to amber and I may harvest earlier than suggested. King Kong trichomes are milky clear.
I switched up which light is on which plant. Next grow I’m definitely replacing my two weaker lights with stronger lights and using the weak lights as side lighting. Light power is one of the big lessons from this grow.
The bud size looks it’s age, but is much heavier than appearance. I think the kelp helped the buds get denser. The King Kong flowers are all much heavier than the branches can support. Next grow I’ll be more proactive with netting support.
Nitrogen deficiency got scary, but was along with my planning. I gave every plant the chop except King Kong, which still needs some time. I have 3 lights on King Kong for another week or two.
Great strain for a new grower like myself, because you can make a lot of stupid mistakes and still get great product. I bet my next grow of Mama Mia will double my yield.
I got this plant as a teen clone, and she had every nutrient deficiency in the book. I showered her with tlc and special teas, and she grew to be a 6 oz beast.
