Northern_Ent Lemon Cream Kush, i’ve got ‘scrog’ plans for this one.
Seed ‘priming’ using ethylene gas in dark before seedling is exposed to light.
https://scitechdaily.com/accidental-discovery-how-a-whiff-of-an-unusual-chemical-transforms-seedlings-into-super-plants/
Seed priming works. I tried it last year on peppers, tomatoes and cannabis. 😎 This is as big a tip as my standard “get a pH meter”.
Looking forward to the 2025 season and good luck to all growers.

Northern_Ent April 26 Day 1: trying soil blocking this year to minimize plastic use. i like using it but soil is wetter than usual and cannabis doesn’t seem to like that.
One more frost night tomorrow and then it should be warm enough to get them outside. was 22 C today but will be -1 C tomorrow overnight.
April 30 Day 5: transplanted into 7 gallon grow bag. Seedling was getting too spindly and stretched under my starter light and the weather is beautiful (too hot soon). Will hit 28 C already this weekend apparently.
Soil blocking is really good but i had the soil too wet for the cannabis. Transplanted early and outside way ahead of normal. We’ll see how she does. Cheers to all growers.
The main risk to the seedling this early is magpies and other birds looking for food.

Northern_Ent May 3: pushing my luck but have moved them outdoors early. Now easier to move plants into unheated but rnclosed gatage to make it through cold nights. That and a small kettle.
May 5: Well I was pushing my luck, and this Lemon Cream Kush didn’t make it. This is my fault cuz the soil was a bit too ‘hot’ with nutrients and I was messing around with soil blocking to start seeds this year, plus moving outside as soon as possible. The soil was too wet and the seedling didn’t like it. New seed started a couple days ago. This new one will be done the regular way that I know works. Still using the apple trick (see germination week).
May 10: seed 2 was transplanted out today. Early but will be okay. Overnight in garage and watering with warmed water in the morning. No purple stems which would indicate cold stress - so far so good enough, and still early in the season.
May 13: seems to be growing. No auto genetics in this one and it seems a bit more sensitive to cold temperatures. Seems to be growing and should get going soon.
May 15: she’s growing so that’s a relief.

Northern_Ent May 17: approximately Day 15 for the replacement seed 2, and timed to match other diaries with weeks starting on Saturdays.
May 20: cool and rainy last three days.
May 22: still cool and rainy meaning slow growth but it should warm up in a few days.
May 23: the backup seedling Lemon Cream Kush is now notably bigger than the one ive had outddors. it’s been cool and. rainy but it will warm up soon and the outddor plant will be fine.

Northern_Ent May 24 Day 22: very cool last week and my backup indoor seedling is now a fair bit bigger than the outdoor plant. oh well, she’ll do fine.
May 26: decent growth today as it was sunny and pretty hot, around 28 C. Doing Extreme Blend as a foliar spray about once a week.
May 28: hot today at 30 C. watered with a bit of molasses and Extreme Blend.

Northern_Ent May 31: just finished fourth week and she’ll be ready for the first topping likely later this week.
Now moving into June and lots of growth during the long daylight hours around the solstice.
June 3: she’s picking up speed and almost ready for the first topping to create the manifold. Waiting for the fifth node to form so later today or tomorrow she’ll get topped.
June 5: first topping to build the manifold. Looking good.

Northern_Ent June 7: Lemon Cream Kush is looking good a day or two after being topped.
June 9: going good. Video is a tip to moisten plant leaves a couple times a day when growing in dry air. It makes up for the low humidity.
June 10: wildfire smoke has reappeared but not as bad as 2023 (here at least (so far)). She is not stretching out like my other plants but still growing.
June 13: oops, i broke a main stem while trying to do LST. Patched with floral tape. it didnt fully break so the tape might work.

Northern_Ent June 14: Lemon Cream Kush is starting strong veg growth. She’s doing fine and looking good.
By end of day the leaves above the broken stem are looking a bit stressed. Maybe there will be consequences for breaking the stem yesterday.
June 16: it looks like the broken stem will recover. I hope.
June 20: it seems i got away with breaking one of the main stems. The floral tape patch is working - that side is growing more slowly and looked pretty limp a few days ago, is still a bit smaller but is now growing again. At worst the manifold will be a bit lopsided but the plant will still do just fine.

Northern_Ent June 21: Lemon Cream Kush is doing great. The one stem is behind (because I broke it doing LST) but it’s recovered and is now growing again. The plant is a bit lopsided so to keep the growth tips at the same elevation, I’ve tied down that bigger mainstem using the netting to give the lower growth tips more sunlight.
Started another lazy compost tea for use tomorrow. This is he third tea so far.
@yan402, thanks. ive bought a couple of wagons to make it easier to move around my yard chasing after direct sunlight. will do my multi-layer loose scrog again that worked so well last year. This one will be in the wagon beside the Durban both of which should get quite big. Fun stuff. Cheers.
