This Royal Queen Fat Banana popped today. Took six days to germinate. I kept the seed in a cup of water for two days, then into a starter plug in a small pot with a little coco. I will transplant to a larger 5 gallon geosynthetic pot tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to see how things turn out with this little one.
Day 2 update. I transplanted the little one today and continuing to feed with straight reverse osmosis water.
Day 5 update: Gave the plant her first feeding with nutrients. I'm only using a half dose of Canna A+B & Cannazym along with some Myco Jordan mycorrhizal inoculant.
Day 12 update: Gave her another watering. Continuing to use half strength with all nutrients. It is very easy to give your plants an overdose of nutrients when using beneficial bacteria, so it is important to dial it back when mixing up a batch of watering solution. If your plants are thirsty, they will tell you.
Day 19 update: Gave the little lady another watering. She has definitely picked up the pace the last week. I have also snipped off the bottom set of single leaves and the small branches that were growing there. No need to waste energy where it's not needed. Improved air flow and easier for watering too.
Day 32 update: I moved the little one into another tent which has a 440w LED in it today. Just using the veg lights for now though.
Day 33 update: Gave the little one another watering.
Day 34 update: Topped her today.
Day 39 update: Gave the little one another watering. I also took a few clones today from the bottom of the plant. After taking the cutting, I dip it in some Elite 91 Clones liquid and then put it into a grow plug that has been soaking in a combination of water and Myco Jordan, I have been getting roots in 9-14 days with this method.
Day 41 update: I started a little low stress training by putting a couple Plant Bends on the top two branches.
Day 46 update: Switched over to flowering lights today and gave the little one her first feeding of flower nutrients. In addition to the Myco Jordan and half dosage of Canna A+B & Cannazym, I started using a half dose of Fox Farm Open Sesame and Terpinator. I have also lowerd the pH to 5.8. I will continue with this nutrient solution for the next three weeks.
Day 49 update: Put a couple more Plant Bends in the top two branches.
Day 51 update: Flower hairs have started appearing!
Day 52 update: Gave her another watering.
Day 53 update: I have been slowly pruning the plant for the last few weeks. Sometimes you will get some side branches from a main stalk that will start branching out. I don't like this. I find the last week of veg and first 2-3 weeks of flowering a good time to prune branching stems that stretch. Instead of three small fingernail size nugs, I'd rather have the plant focus it's energy into one decent thumb sized flower. This cultivar has not branched out too badly. The bottom branches have also caught up to the upper ones quite nicely. I doubt I'll do any more bending.
Day 57 update: Time for another watering.
Day 63 update: Watered the little one again. This will be the last watering with Open Sesame added to the mix.
Day 69 update: Watered the plant today with Fox Farm Beastie Bloomz added to the mix. I have also stopped using the Myco Jordan. Unfortunately, I burned the plant a little bit a couple weeks ago. It has not gotten too bad though. Also, the little one has started getting a really nice candy banana smell to it.
Day 80 update: The little one is now 34 days into flower. I gave her another watering today and this will be the last nutrient mix including Beastie Bloomz.
Day 85 update: Now 39 days into flower. I gave the lady another watering and have started adding Fox Farm Cha Ching and Atami Bloombastic to the nutrient mix.
She also has a very strong smell now. The candy banana smell is awesome.
Day 89 update: 43 days into flower and time for another watering.
Day 101 update: Now 55 days into flower. Gave her another watering. Two weeks to go until harvest!
Day 102 update: Since there is less than two weeks to go, I have turned on the LEDs UV light.
Day 105 update: 59 days into flower and I've started flushing the little one. I'm using water with a pH of 6.3 during the flush.
Day 114 update: It's harvest day! Total flowering time was 68 days.
As I cut off each of the branches, I strip as many leaves by hand as possible. It's real easy to snap them off right at the base of the stem and this helps make the buds look nice. I immediately manicure the flowers after stripping the plants. I then use a tomato cage to hang the branches with the manicured flowers still on and put the cage in a small grow tent for drying.
She has a really heavy candy banana smell and I can't wait to see how she tastes. Hopefully I'll be testing some within the next week!
Fat Banana lives up to it's name taste and smell wise. It smells exactly like you're standing next to bananas in the produce section of the grocery store. Tastes just like bananas too. It has a relaxing high and definitely gets you baked. The flowers look really nice, but they are not super dense. I was slightly disappointed in the overall yield. Hopefully that is something I can improve a bit with the clone I just started flowering.
I am going to continue growing clones of this plant. It was fun to grow and makes a nice evening smoke. Definitely recommended.
It's a quick growing station, is it? I've also just started a diary with this one. Gonna follow your grow and see how we compare. Are you going to top/fim, I was thinking off doing one or the other.
@Fruitgrower, She's been growing a little on the slower side. I topped her about a week ago and bent the top two branches yesterday.. Gonna start flowering this weekend. I will check out your grow!
