Big shoutout to Dutch Passion Seed Company for hosting this contest!
Also for selecting little old me and giving a newbie grower a chance to present what they do best in the tent.
I hope I don't let you down π π
Also a shoutout to GrowDiaries, for offering growers a platform where we can track our grows, learn from our mistakes and show the world just how clumsy we can be at times! π¬πππ

It was an interesting germination process π A different breeder. A different strain. A different terpene profile...
After arrival (and a few snapshots), all three seeds went into 150ml of dechlorinated tap water. (At least, I expect it to be dechlorinated! I've never used this Envii product but if it works on ponds, with live fish in them, it should work with Microbes, the Living.. and the Army π± right??)
PH meter showed 6.3, so PH should be arranged as well right? Exchanged the water for fresh water every 12 hours because my gut feeling was telling me, the PH swings at some point if you just let water stand around. I should have just pulled out my PH meter again and tested it, but I was lazy... okay, I was stoned. Sue me π
Only one seed popped unfortunately, and that one took between 36 and 48 hours. The other two, I left in the glass another 24 hours (72 hours max) and even had them in moist papertowl, on the router, for three days. Alas, nothing. The tail on the first one grew slower than I am used too and also had a weird black spot on it. The cotyledons show signs of having had a struggle taking off the helmet.
These signs lead me to believe there was something wrong on my end somewhere.
I was more than likely clumsy at some point and didn't notice it. I.. eh.. didn't EC test the tapwater after dechlorinating it!! Normally I would have run the tapwater through a Britta Water Filter, but I didn't this time.. π΄π΄π΄
Going to persist with this one and see where she takes us! π
I've got one shot, so let's make it count!!
Soil nurturing time π
--------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------
The seedling, and the first 4cm of soil directly surrounding it, only got dechlorinated tapwater + BioDown to 6.3ph + 0.2g/L Microbes
The surrounding soil however..
4L dechlorinated water
8ml Alga Grow
4ml Power Roots
4ml Pure Zym
4ml Sugar Royal
4ml Silic Rock
BioDown to 6.3ph
0.3g/L Microbes (the Living)
2g/L Nematodes (the Living)
a handful of red wriggler worms (the Army)
and anything else crawling around in there π (the Army)
The Living will move around, all throughout the soil.
If I watered correctly, the liquid nutrients etc. should sink pretty much downward.. if they're not eaten along the way π
The trick is, conditioning that section of the soil to be rich and fluffy, but not too hot.
So when the roots finally reach that part, the plant should be about ready for its first dose of nutrients anyway, and latches onto the new soil like Golem latches onto his precious. π
We're going to find out soon enough what this has unleashed.

The first true leaves have separated well from the cotyledons and the second pair of true leaves are distancing themselves from the first set.
I think it's safe to say, veg week 1 is over.
--------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------
It was a terrible start to this competition, only having one of three seeds germinate. The seed that did germinate, had obvious stress signs to it.
Look at her now!!
Other than a few small signs of being overwatered, she is doing pretty well. I had expected nute burn by now due to the soil possibly being too hot, but no. She has no complaints there. I also expected her to half declare war on me after having fed her nutrients on Sunday, but no.
Hot soil. Hot feed. Hot tent. Hot CO2. Hot VPD. Low humidity. PH at 6.3
--------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------
She hasn't been fed nor watered since Sunday. Perhaps it's just me, but I was seeing a few signs of overwatering on her leaves, so I decided to cut back a little on the frequency of waterings. The clay pebbles on top of the soil should work very well at keeping moisture in the soil. I'm thinking, in these early stages (weeks 1-2) she can be fed/watered once a week. We'll see if she holds out until Sunday or not. π
--------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------
As far as the pictures are concerned, I attempted to catch each little stage of seedling-to-plant.
Now she's building a trunk, I think, she is well on her way to becoming a plant soon.

Spike-GreenGrower Dutch Passion Growing Competition 2025 - Orange Bud 2.0 (OB1)
Veg week 2 has come to an end for this young lady. Yes, she is a bonafide plant now π
And the "OB1" title? We'll get to that soon enough..

May 16
It was time to check in on her and look for signs that she is thirsty. At the same time, look for signs if the Living need a watering π
The clay pebbles should be helping to 'trap' some moisture in the medium longer (soil moisture meter incoming soon) and after moving a couple stones out of the way, I noticed the topsoil at that spot was still somewhat dark but nowhere near brown. It wasn't 'fluffy' anymore, which could have come from the weight of the pebbles... she might just make it till Sunday!
She doesn't look thirsty, and the soil can still go a little so she didn't get watered.

She made it. Seven days of no watering and no feeding. No worms have jumped shipped yet either, so I'll take that as a good sign π π
Her leaves have just begun to hang though. She might be able to push through another 12 hours or so.
If I really wanted to be mean, I would hold off another 12 hours π Let her stress a little bit. Make her roots work to find the last little reservoirs of moisture... but nah... she just started to straighten herself out. For the time being, she has been through enough.
4L of dechlorinated tapwater + feed + lemon juice the mix down to 6.3ph... an hour later she was praying again π
Lighting needs to be adjusted, at least I suspect it is the lighting that is burning holes in several of her leaves. π
I was certain she would handle 500 ppfd by now. Reduced intensity to 50% and lowered the lamp to 30cm. Running 450 ppfd
now. Will look tomorrow if the problem has gotten worse.

Yup, she's a plant now π Contemplating topping, but waiting on the leaves of the lower shoots to come through first. I want to be sure those shoots are fully able to process light before removing the head.
We stopped the burning of the leaves, for the time being πAnd it looks like she is taking well to the medium and nutrients. I think she's ready for full doses from here on in. 4ml/L of Grow starting next watering, if she hasn't given me any odd looks by Sunday.
--------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------
So what's with the 'OB1' title? Only 1 of the 3 seeds hatched right??!!
Psyche! π ...the next (and last) Diary for this strain. Coming soon!

Spike-GreenGrower Dutch Passion Growing Competition 2025 - Orange Bud 2.0 (OB1)
Veg week 4, and with that my LST experimentation, has come to an end.
She was thirsty this week. She was fed Friday and today.
--------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------
I think the pictures can pretty much do all the talking for this week π
In the end, I wasn't satisfied with the results of six main branches and 'reverted' (by means of garden scissors) to four. With that, I spread her out as far as she would stretch and bound her down, tightly.
She's wants to grow upwards, quickly.

June 3
Applied the final trimming to her. Time to send her off into flower!
Lighting is set to 12/12. Intensity reduced from 70 to 60%.
Alga Grow has been removed from the feed today. It has been replaced by Alga Bloom and Power Buds πππ
Plagron PH Min to 6.1ph

Sorry, while updating the Diary for this week, I noticed the entries for the nutrients were wrong π π
We are not doing 8ml/L of Grow, 4ml/L of the rest.
8mL and 4 mL (respectively) went into 4L of water π
They now reflect the correct amount. We're going in hard, but not THAT hard!
BioDown is citric acid based, it is not stable and the PH will raise surprisingly quickly. Better to use a PH down based off phosphoric acid.

@UnorthadoxDude, it's definitely something I can keep an eye on with this run. How much the soil and runoff fluctuate from what went in. Thanks for the tip. If I run into PH problems, I will probably look into getting Plagron's.
@yan420, Thank you for the info and advice. I am not aware of any light leaks with my setup and I did not disturb either of them in the lights off phase. I was very cautious about that this run as I intended to test their resilience and only wanted data resulting from the stress training. Dunno if I achieved that thoroughly.
Hence, I can describe what I did (LST, Topping and flipping in one week's time) and try to place the blame on my doing.
She looks goodππ±
Wish you good luck in this contest, but above all a smooth grow journeyππ±βοΈ
I am sure the little one will mirror all the care and love you give back at you and reward you with big beautiful fragrant flowersππͺ
