Lowbuds Gave them a good bend using wire to develop bottom and side branches in preparation for the flowering space where i'll be using a net to try to cover the space as much as possible, probably moving to flower next week. Moved the plants to the tent now that it's free, going for another week of veg to develop more roots in those big pots, started feeding with TNT complex and a touch of H2O2, net is installed.

Lowbuds Switching to 12/12 after one week acclimation in the tent. Lamp is at 75% for now and about 70cm from canopy, still struggling to find the right height/intensity ratio on this lamp, will slowly ira crank it up to 100% monitoring yellowing of the top leaves. Started fertilising with Bloom Complex and some boost to help trigger flowering. Plants healthy and growing nicely :)

Grow Questions

Lowbudsstarted grow question 1mo ago
At which point should I do a defoliation and clean the bottom third of the plant?

Different wavelengths of light have different penetration depths. The first 2 to 3 layers of leaf will recieve ample blue and red and green for robust bud growth. Only even begin to think about defoliation once your canopy has a a excess of 2-3 layers deep other wise you are reducing plants ability to perform gas exchange which is a precursor for photosynthesis. The cannabis plant is hardwired as such. Anytime a leaf consumes more energy than it produces the plant will initiate pcd programmed cell death, it will strip all the mobile nutrients from said lead which will turn yellow, this yellow is carotenoid and still capable of photosynthesis. Eventually the plant will detach once it has remobilized everything it can. The only time you want to defoliate is to expedite what you already know plant won't "utilize" later in flower. How do you know? Well thats where experience comes in, you won't know until you watch a plant defoliate itself, then all you do is "defoliate" that which you know won't be used. (wasted energy) There are mechanisms within the plant thay are made to protect from herbivory, pinching leaves as if it was being eaten can trick the plant and trigger responses but this is more during terpene production and the benefits will be a % or two at most. Large Buds don't develop because a lack of energy they lack the ratio of colors to produce proper buds, Green light will penetrate 6, 7 layers, if you supplement side red and blue, you can give th lower parts the 1:2;1 they crave almost removing entirely the need for any defoliation at all. Pruning is another thing.

Lowbuds The first pistils showed up yesterday, Also did a strong lollipoping in the lower branches, removing most that is under the net, might have been a bit extreme on the Zombie Bride but she's been the stronger plant since beginning so I hope that wasn’t too much and that they’ll benefit from it. Still feeding with bloom complex and booster, added some alpha boost to stimulate micro life Lamp is still at 75% but brought it a bit closer Midweek Update: Took them 2-3 days to recover but they're back on the grow track now, added some Power Zyme to last feed and it seems to have boosted them, lamp is now 85%, Zombie Bride still a bit behind but nothing bad

Lowbuds Plants have recovered for trimming, bloom is fully on and the stretch has started. From now on will let the bud site defelopvertically as the horizontal plan is full. Lamp is now 50cm at 90%, no burn so will increase it to 100% this week The plants are getting thirstier, they drink a liter per day, one day with feed, one day plain water, might start to give them 2L every two days instead. Will also cut the booster dose in half for the stretch period. It’s a bit of slow start compared to my last run but i was planning minimum 10weeks in flower anyway.

Lowbuds The bloom is fully on now and buds are forming rapidly, the stretch is on and the plants have gained 10cm the last days. Zombie bride is the most stretchy one and definitely caught up with the others, it’s now biscotti Mintz that’s a bit behind. Pollen starts to form already Still no burn from the lamp, saw some tiny insects in he other day and as there are many in the woods nearby I have to monitor this carefully with garlic spray All in all it’s a pleasure to open the door in the morning they just look beautiful. See you next week!
