Today I kicked off a little experimentโmy very first cloning attempt!
The little LSD plant wasnโt in perfect shape, but one of her side shoots was getting pretty big, and I didnโt really want to keep it. Since she's a photoperiod, I figured, why not give cloning a try? Worst case, it fails and I learn something new.
With no store-bought rooting hormones on hand, I went the homemade route: mixed a bit of warm water with a teaspoon of raw honey and a dash of cinnamon. Then I prepped the cuttingโtrimmed the tips of the leaves, cleaned off the lower part of the stem, dipped it into the solution, and gently tucked it into a water-soaked coco puck. Finally, I placed it inside a glass dome to keep the humidity high.
Now itโs a waiting game! Iโm super hyped to see if she roots or if this becomes one of those learning-through-failure moments. Either way, Iโm stoked to be trying something new.
Light is at around PAR 80
If she will root she will be added to the LSD Grow Diary๐
Stay tunedโwill she root, or will I gain some valuable cloning wisdom?

After just 24h she looks perky and green. Hope it will stay like that๐๐ฑ.
Fingers crossedโ๏ธ

Checked in on my little clone experiment today, and she seems to be doing just fine. Gave the puck a bit of rehydrationโit was starting to dry out a touch. While I was peeking around, I noticed what might be the tiniest little roots just starting to poke out. Could be my imagination, but Iโm choosing to believe itโs roots popping their heads out to say hi!
Letโs see how it goes from here. Fingers crossed this baby takes off!๐๐ฑ

Today I checked on my cloning experiment and noticed it wasnโt going too well. So I decided to replace the coco puck.
While working on the plants, I also saw that my Gorilla Glue had a branch I didnโt want anymore, so I trimmed it off.
That gave me the idea to try cloning the Gorilla Glue as well.
I prepped two fresh cocoa pucks by soaking them in regular water with about 0.2 mL of root juice.
Then I took the cuttings, and gently scraped off a bit of the outer layer at the base of each stem to help with rooting.
After that, I dusted the cut ends with cinnamon as a natural rooting aid and placed them into the soaked pucks.
The pucks are sitting in an old tea glass, and Iโve put a plastic ring on the Gorilla Glue clone so I can tell them apart.
Now itโs just a waiting game to see how they do. Fingers crossed!๐

Today they got a new home. I bought it for future cloning experiments๐
Since I plan to topp my LSD and GG, I will use the cuttings to try and make clones using the guide by Mr. Green
https://www.growweedeasy.com/cloning-made-easy
I already ordered some Clonex and a rooting powder also, RootMax.
I think I will go ahead with topping end of next week if all goes as planed.๐๐๐ฑ

The little one were not doing great and since I planed to topp the LSD and GG I thought let's look if they rooted or not because they will land in the bin either way.๐
And surprise, surprise the GG rooted the LSD didn't.
Note to self: If no other rooting hormones available cinnamon and honey do the trick but it takes a little longer.๐

Topping & Cloning Day (LSD & Gorilla Glue)๐๐๐ฆ๐ฑ
Today I decided to top both the LSD and Gorilla Glue plants. Since I already planned to top aggressively โ mainly because I don't want tall plants and Iโll be keeping them in veg for around 8 more weeks โ I figured this would be a good opportunity to shape them and also take some cuttings for cloning.
I trimmed a bit after topping to open up airflow and light penetration. From the topping, I took several healthy cuttings and decided to attempt cloning them using the double dip method from a tutorial I found on GrowWeedEasy.com (the one by Mr. Green).
For the cloning setup, I ordered Clonex gel and RootMax powder, as the method involves dipping the cuttings first in Clonex and then in the powder before placing them into pre-soaked coco pellets.
Hereโs a summary of the cloning process I followed:
Tools ready: scalpel, scissors, coco pellets, bowl with cold water, bowl with warm water for soaking coco pallets, Clonex, Rootmax, humidity dome
I placed the fresh cuttings immediately into cold water to avoid air bubbles forming inside the stems.
Let the coco pellets soak in warm water.
Cut each clone at a 45-degree angle, removed larger leaves, cut down the tips of the other leaves
Did the double dip: first into Clonex, then into RootMax powder.
Placed each cutting directly into a warm, soaked coco pellet, pressed gently so that the stem is snugged in
Transferred all clones into a humidity dome, made sure itโs fully sealed (no open vents).
Gave them a light misting with water, the tray and dome also misted, and will continue to mist once or twice a day.
The plan is to keep the dome sealed for the first 48 hours to maintain high humidity, then slowly begin to introduce fresh air.
This method is supposed to produce roots in 7โ10 days, so fingers crossed! ๐โ๏ธ๐๐ฆ๐ฑ

The first LSD ones are showing their sexy legs๐ ๐ ๐๐ฑ soon more roots to come๐๐ฑ
6/24/25
More and more roots show up๐ The GG big cut also got some super thick roots.Gonna tale tomorrow a pic.
Also 4 GG cuts didn't make it as I was too dumb and let the tray fallโน๏ธ The 4 cuts sprung from the wet coco puck and then I saw they didn't even had started to root. I think they were those that i didn't press and tuck so that the coco nestles the stem between it and keeps it from coming out. No problem, they were too many any way๐ ๐ ๐๐ฑ
6/28/25
So just 3 remained, the main cuts from each GG and LSD and another cut of LSD. I think if I would of waited and tucked them properly in the coco pucks all would have made roots. I did't had the patience anymore and the space for more so these remain. The GG is still in the HumidDome to build more roots.๐ช๐๐ฑ
