Aircoholic This is an oldie - she was sleeping in my fridge for a little over 2 years. I had two attempts with Rainbow Donut Auto before, but both were struggling with far from optimal conditions in the growtent and consequently in the aroma and effect department. Ever noticed, how people don't say "playing god is easy" all the time? I totally get that!
Anyway, since I feel barely comfortable after switching to growing in living soil and converting my pantry into a dedicated grow room, with only a handful of grows with mixed results at best, I thought, I need more Rainbows and Donuts in my life and in my grow room to make everything better.
And since the results of the previous two Rainbow Donut Auto attempts were pretty bad, this one can only get better (not technically, but, you know, ...)
Put the seed directly into the substrate, that I watered a few hours previous, to activate the microbiome in the living soil. Speaking of, I used a mix of 1/3 old soil mix from a previous grow, mixed in 1/3 fresh Terra Preta and 1/3 Canna Terra Professional, added about 10 % Worm castings, some dynomyco and some basalt rock dust, which should give a good and active living soil environment.
One thing I'll be changing in this grow, is the water. In my previous grows with living soil, I followed given instructions and only added tap water (no chlorine here in Germany, but plenty of minerals) and the results looked accordingly. Plants with too small and airy buds, low yields and okay-ish quality. After diving deeper into the rabbit hole of pH and soil health and microbial activity and the resulting nutrient availability and uptake for the plants, this time, I'll give mostly RO water, with added CalMag of small amounts of tap water occasionally, to hopefully benefit the living soil and through that, the plants. Feed the soil, not the plants, right?

Aircoholic She came out of the soil a little slower than Cheese Auto in the next pot. When she finally did, she was wearing the seed shell as a helmet, which came off easily. Under the helmet, she wore a soft cap - I added a drop of water, hoping to help to remove it more easily - but after 10 minutes, she already freed herself, showing some strength and will to live - I like it!
Watering in a similar fashion to cheese - I want the rainbow donut to sparkle in all of it's terpy glory, so the living soil needs to keep moist enough to not impact root growth.

Aircoholic She's mainly living and working underground so far, only showing up above ground for some Photosynthesis and overall cute looks. Let's see how long before she explodes on the scene and takes over the grow room.

Aircoholic Not as big as cheese, but maybe that's normal for a Rainbow Donut growing up? So far I'm not worried, I'm sure she'll start stretching eventually. Other than the height compared to Cheese Auto, she's looking good! Maybe some nutrients soon? Maybe!

Aircoholic She looks healthy and happy, although a bit small, compared to Cheese Auto, growing in parallel. I'm sure she'll start stretching soon though.

Aircoholic She's coming along, starting to stretch, although still a bit hesitant. Overall she's still more compact than Cheese growing next to her, she looks to be a few days slower, which I don't mind at all.
The deep watering strategy might have to do with that - the bottom 3rd of the pot was super dry, due to my conservative watering regiment. A little over a week after deep watering her, there are roots growing through the fabric pot, even at the bottom. She seems to respond really well to the changed watering schedule, and if that's what caused this little delay, I'm fine with that.
LSTing with 3d printed braces also seems to help her distribute her dense leaf structure a little better towards more light.

Aircoholic She's awfully slow and small - not only compared to Cheese Auto growing next to her, but overall she should be much taller and faster growing. But anyway, she is, what she is. She's still looking super healthy and vital though. To speed her growth up a little, I fed some nice homebrew ACT, some Effective Microorganisms, defoliated very cautiously and top fed some worm castings. Let's see, how she reacts to that. So far she shows some signs, but not enough to call her flowering just yet - maybe next week, maybe she's just a little slow.

Aircoholic Okay, she's still very small, but she's growing - she grew quite a bit in the last week, and she looks overall healthy and vital.
I fed her some ACT, did light defoliation and top dressed her soil with worm castings. Now she needs time to digest. Her buds are juuuuust starting to show now, which I guess dates her to be 1,5 weeks behind Cheese Auto.
I have a feeling, this could become a pretty long grow.

Aircoholic Look who's a bit late to the stretch party... or shall we say a bit late in general? It's very interesting how slow growth period at the beginning lasted about 2 weeks, but now she's catching. They grow up so fast... beautiful!
Not sure if she was just generally delayed, or if my stimulus-attempts like mild defoliation )to send growth signal to the plant), some ACT with Top-Dressing with worm castings for some microbial goodness, or the millet-water I fed her - it's full of starches, food for the microbes, same idea as with rice-water.
No trichomes yet, but that's okay, cheese auto started trichome production about 2 weeks ago, so we're still on time. I think. Wait, what is time anyway? Oh oh, stoner rabbit-hole... I'll be back!

Aircoholic Okay, so she's a little late to the party, but she's here now, that's what matters. Don't know what happened to cause the delay, but I'm so happy she stretched so much and did turn into this gorgeous plant, that's now starting to show first signs of trichome-production.
She's looking super healthy and vital, I don't see any need for any nutrients or other measures. Let's grow!

Aircoholic Alright, she went through stretch rather late in her life cycle, but seems to be back on track now. Her stretch is over, she settled in at a very satisfying height, only 10cm smaller than Cheese Auto next to her, and is already pushing her energy into growing and thickening her buds. There are some early trichomes, but no smell yet - I expect the aroma to start filling the room within the next week.
And now it's all about keeping her on course and steering her into a sweet harvest.

Aircoholic After the stretch comes the buds - She's putting all energy into bud production now, fattening up all those lovely budsites. Trichomes production is also in high gear, creating a lovely sweet aroma with some fruity sourness to it.
She's showing some nutrient issues, which looks mainly like Nitrogen mobilization from the fan leafs - countermeasures will be some ACT during the week, hopefully that'll help her sort out the issues.

Aircoholic She's doing okay, showing some signs that the microbial life in the soil is not able to produce enough nutrients. Preparing some BioTabs PK Boost ACT right now, will see how she responds.
Overall I'm super happy with this plant, her buds develop very nicely, thickening up and producing trichomes. Now it's all about steering her safely through the last few weeks before harvest.
Thanks, growmie! Slow growth can happen, I'm trying to roll with it, despite the frustration of not knowing the causes. She started to stretch a bit more, so there's still hope, she'll get a little bigger before flowering.
