Fast Buds Rainbow Melon First Outdoor

MindFlowers68 Seedlings all growing at expected rate. Added soluble root zone to the seedlings again, and they got their first feeding. Some liquid kelp and cal-mag. They were only watered once for the whole week. The PPFD at the canopy level was set to around 250 with my my lights at 100 percent at the top of the tent. While they are growing I Too the time to get the 150 pots ready for outside. The soil is a mix of woodchips from my maple tree that composed for about a year mixed with super soil aged over winter from my old grows that's full of biochar and worms. Also a pile of woodchips that had my worm bin emptied into at the end of the season last year that turned into mostly worm castings. This was then amended with a few cubic feet of peat moss and about cubic foot each of pearlite, vermiculate and lava rock. for nutrients gia green 4-4-4(2C), glacial, and basalt rock dusts(1C each), Down to earth neem seed meal(1C) and fish bone meal(1/2 C). Also added some diatomaceous earth(1/2C) and touch of rock phosphate(1/4) an mosquito bits(1/4C) (1/4C)and just a tbps of potassium sulphate.

MindFlowers68 The rainbow melon is not the tallest but defiantly the thickest and biggest pant so far of this round. Was only watered once with kelp and cal mag. But i must have not had my ph dialed in or something because a few of the seedling started showing sulphur /iron deficiency issues. I tried to adjust by adding some gypsum and basalt to the top and watering it in.

MindFlowers68 Some of the plants showing more signs of yellowing from watering issues and ph issues. Luckily I was able to get a nice strong batch of Boogie Brew compost tea made and gave them all a nice soak and bath with it. Within two days all but one of the plants bounced back. Now that the plants are able to fend for themselves a little better was a good opportunity to try to harden them off the ones going outside to the elements outside. I did so by placing on a shaded part of my deck for a few hours. I was also able to get my tent inside ready and they were moved from the small cool grows tent to my 4x8 tent with my big lights. I adjusted the light to be around 500 PPFD at canopy.

MindFlowers68 I got a nice stretch of good weather and was able to transplant in its new 150 gallon home. I set up and inner and outer trellis to hep protect and support the plant. I watered in with a rich brew of compost tea to inoculate its new home with microbe and fungal friends!

MindFlowers68 Shes looking beautiful and taking well to the outside. Shes has finally reached the top of my Inner cage so I toped the main stem. No compost tea this week. I live watching her seay in the wind!

MindFlowers68 A mostly uneventful week for the outdoor photoperiods. The were watered once with the cal-mag/kelp solution and were kind of pounded with rain most of the week.Then It got very humid too. I was worried for the plants during the storm we had they we calling for 70 mph winds that took down some powder lines and trees down the street. While i don't have the plants rigidly staked the cages were able to support the plants during the storm. Im not sure if the stakes would help or hurt i have a feeling it would help them snap easier rather than bend with the wind. They all survived and are getting some nice intense sunlight after the storm. I'm hoping I will be able to take some clones this week. Also hoping that my mantis cocoons will hatch!

MindFlowers68 This week was over 100 heat index for several days but the plants did not require any more water than normal. I feed with compost tea at 600 ppm at the begging of the week the night before the heatwave. Then again with cal-mag water 2 days later in the morning and they have been holding onto steady moisture for 3 days I wanted to hold off on watering because we have some rain in the forecast. I also topped of with a cup of BSF frass and quarter cup of neem seed meal before feeding the compost. Still not Mantis cocoon hatch! Sti have not got clones yet, s i have it cleaned the bottoms or defoliated yet as I want to use them.

MindFlowers68 Not the biggest week for growth it was rainy first half of the week but getting nice sunshine at the end. Was able to clean up the bottoms and grab a few clones. Watered with boogie brew again at end of the week.

MindFlowers68 Rough week for the rainbow melon. Giant limb from my maple tree crashed down on my two far pots in the group. The plant survived and should recover but lost a few weeks of growth. It did not get hit as bad as the bubblegum next door and managed to keep one of the main tall stalks. She was looking so nice before the damage and just starting to bush out too. But luckily that branch coming down opened up the sky quite a bit and the other two plants not hit are gonna do even better now and the rainbow melon should recover okay. I almost wanted to replace them but I will learn more from seeing what happens next and comparing to the other unaffected plants. Fed with compost tea, kelp and cal mag mix 700 ppm.

MindFlowers68 Looks like she is recovering just fine from that tree limb falling last week. The top shoot that was left has not reached 5 feet tall. Some of the lowers are coming through the outer cage. This week was similar with amount of rain and storms so I only gave compost tea once.

MindFlowers68 Lots of sun this week, she's reached 70 inches already. Bounce back from that topping with no problem I'm glad that I left it to heal. I gave some DE to the leaves to keep away the spotted lantern flys. I also top dressed with 2 cups of Gia Green 4-4-4. At the end of the week god one watering with Boogie Brew.

MindFlowers68 Still vegging strong. Stacking nodes at little tighter and stetching out more horazontally. Her structurr is slightly jacked from the tree but is making an awesome comeback.

MindFlowers68 Shes 82 inches tall and we just hit 14/10 light cycle. I noticed shes starting to put out more pre flowers so I think this will mark the end of veg. She got some rain water this week and a nice strong batch of compost tea. I wanted to get a preventative mold spray on the plant so I mixed of some aloe with a little baking soda and let it soak in. I followed with a foliar spray of the compost tea, also trying to remove the honeydew on the leaves cause by spotted lanternflys in the maple tree above. It was not very affective and will need to wash it off this week, and also think of a way to get it to stop fast because it looks like the plants are transitioning into flower. I'm seriously moving the pots somehow to a safer location.

MindFlowers68 The honeydew fallout from the spotted lanternflys in the maple tree above have gotten out of hand. It's almost a constant mist. The only thing I could think to do beside moving them like an ancient Egyptian was adding a protective canopy of some sort. I wanted to get the clear poly weave but this green one was half price so went with it instead. With the way I have it oriented, it doesn't really block out that much direct sun too. In the morning and afternoon the angle of the sun is able to shine right on the plants. It's kind of a win win because should decrease my chances of mold later down the road towards harvest time if it does decide to rain a bunch. I tried washing the plants once this week with some light soap and water with a little baking soda mixed in. I rinsed with cone setting with hose right after and the plants were praying next day but i didn't have canopy up yet so they got hit again. I spotted several pale green assassin bugs on my plants so now Im a little nervous about washing the plants again because I want to keep them around. They are nymphs right now I may try to collect the ones i see become cleaning the plants one last time. Hanging that canopy was one of the more frustrating things I've done in a while. I wasn't sure If or how it would work but I has some medium gauge synthetic rope I tied to the eyelets and eventual 4 tree limbs. I had to bounce back and forth to get it tension climbing my fruit trees and 8 foot ladder. I originally disassembled an unused tomato trellis i built to use some of the lumber to build a post to tie off on in one corner but it ended up being at the wrong angle relative to the tarp and I started to get worried if a storm ripped it out of the ground. So I opted to used only the surrounding trees. After getting it all tension I realized that it was to far to one side leaving two of the plants almost exposed, so I had to come back the next day and re adjust but now I have it in a pretty good spot. I survived a decent storm already this week. Just hope it lasts. Overall making outside feel slightly leas stressful and anticipating more of a good harvest rather than just an experiment with my first outdoor grown.

MindFlowers68 My gorilla melons transitioning into flower this week. Not much change in height yet but I will get a good measurement next week. I haven't had to water this plant much at all this whole summer but now that I have the canopy up top I'm gonna have to start watering more. Last day of this week got a mix of compost tea with some liquid fish. It got around 8 gallons.

MindFlowers68 The weathers been pretty good this week and it's been really dry though so I had to water pretty heavy a few days. I'm glad I put that nut up. It's really catching a lot of filth. One of the roofs came on down, had to readjust it, so that was fun. I got a new measurement this week. She seems to have even down on height.. Ever since I put the canopy up it kind of LST'd did outwards when I was setting it up it rested on top a few times but it kind of worked out.

MindFlowers68 It's been a really nice week for weather, but also very dry. When did pick up a few times and I had to readjust my canopy again to get a tighter so I didn't hit the top of my plants. It's doing a really good job keeping the crud off but it does have a few spots where it's leaking so I might tape those up just to keep my plants dry. We just hit 13 hours of light in my area, and buds slowly transitioning into more rapid growth they are smelling pretty stinky from far away already. Water twice this week About 6 gallons each time and one with compost tea.

MindFlowers68 We got some drizzles this week and some cloudiness, but her southern facing aspect, helped her out with getting some nice sunlight despite the fact. Temperature still dropping as to be expected so I didn't have to water more than once. The buds are swelling and frosting up quick.

MindFlowers68 Has been very dry, some cold nights this week and high humidity which is a recipe for PM. I found a few on old fan leafs had a few small spots starting so I remove them. My bubble gum plant seems to be hit the hardest which its still not too bad yet but I think it's having a hard time because I got hit by that tree branch. So in a preventative effort I got a UVC light, and I made up baking soda and peroxide solution and sprayed the plants down. I kind of got aggressive with it because I really don't wanna lose these plants. I hit them with the UVC light once then the next morning it was rainy and stuff so I said fuck it they're wet anyway I might as well spray them so I made a baking soda and peroxide solution and then the next morning it was still rainy and I put a little more baking soda than I thought I did. So I made one more peroxide solution to rinse it off. Then I hit the plant with one more UV treatment. Three days later I don't see any pm back, but I do see some damage to the leaves from my treatment so it was a little powerful and some of the hairs turn orange from the lake but I'm not worried about that. It's looking like this is gonna be early harvest, and after my work clothes with my indoor stuff, I'm thinking most of this is going to be pressed into rosin if i make there. Buds are developing nice and look really good. They are super frosty and hoping it's helping protect it. I don't see any signs of bud rot yet.

MindFlowers68 This was the final week. I had no choice to harvest early because pm was starting to settle on a lot of stuff in my garden. The UV light worked for like a day or two and it came back. It's just not worth it. It turned a lot of the buds hairs brown and the leaves did suffer a little damage. Part of that was the peroxide solution. I mixed a little too strong, and it didn't seem like it hurt the plants, but after a few days, they showed the damage. It just seem to burn the leaves a little not really the bud so that's good. There was three days of rain coming, so I wanted to get it cut down.I didn't intend on harvesting so early, and I have no place to dry this because other plants drying so I was forced into freezing it. I cut down branches and wet trimmed it into a bin and ran to the freezer every 10 minutes to get it frozen right away. I maybe could've dried it and had some decent flower but I figured this would be a good opportunity to learn about making bubble hash. I decided I wanted a stainless steel mixing vessel and found this beer brewer for a good price. I think it's gonna be solid. It has a nice drain at the bottom. Then I bought some 5 gallon buckets for spacers for my 5 gallon bubble bags I use the heat gun to peel the stickers off and to heat the bottoms up to make it a little easier to cut them out with the utility knife. I used the heat gun again to soften the edges a little bit so I don't damage my bags. I can't do my washes until I'm done trimming my flowers, but I got a 2 Inkbird temperature controllers to bring my studio down to bubble hash temperatures with my ac unit. I could wait a little longer until it gets colder but I'm not sure how cold it's really gonna get and I wanna get this done soon as I can. I'm gonna have to try it without a freeze dryer so that should be fun and I'm not going to micro plane it at all costs. I got 25 µm screens for drying that I will use a towel to wear most of the moisture out then see if it on to some parchment and I should be able to get my studio really cold and dry to get it dried relatively quickly. I'm seeing it recommended to be 30 to 40% humidity and 50° or so for about a week and it should be dry enough to press some rosin. I'm gonna try to separate out the full melt hash, but honestly I think I'm just gonna get a wide spectrum pool on this hash and just press it into rosin to make it easier to deal with. I kind of was trying to find the cheapest bags it's still decent and wasn't paying attention when I bought it really cause there's no 45 µm and my set and I'm saying that to be the lowest recommended the pool but also seeing a lot of people pulling some nice 25 µm so I think with my early harvest I might have some smaller truck head so I might not be a bad thing to have that bag as my lowest. I'm going to catch everything under 160 to 25.
