Germination
3mo ago
MindFlowers68 The seed(s) were soaked overnight with regular filtered water that was aerated. Seeds were then placed in 1 gal plastic pots. I usually start my seeds in 5 gal fabric pots but I was limited on space. Also doing more strains at one time than usual so I can have some variety of clones available for friends and family. Instead I decided to germinate my seeds in 1 gal this time and see how things went but had a harder time with a few of them. It was not until the seedlings got fee compost tea they started to take off. I was unable to get vermiculite or perlite at the store at the time of starting the seeds so I mixed some violet mix i had sitting around had some mixed in it. The mix was mostly peat and lava rock left over and worm castings with some gia green 4-4-4 and glacial rock dust. Mosquito bits were also added. Once the seeds sprouted I added some microbes and fungi powder. In the future If I have the space will stick to doing my seed starting in 3-5 gal fabric pots.

MindFlowers68 Seedlings all growing at expected rate. Added soluble root zone to the seedlings again, and they got their first feeding. Some liquid kelp and cal-mag. They were only watered once for the whole week. The PPFD at the canopy level was set to around 250 with my my lights at 100 percent at the top of the tent. While they are growing I Too the time to get the 150 pots ready for outside. The soil is a mix of woodchips from my maple tree that composed for about a year mixed with super soil aged over winter from my old grows that's full of biochar and worms. Also a pile of woodchips that had my worm bin emptied into at the end of the season last year that turned into mostly worm castings. This was then amended with a few cubic feet of peat moss and about cubic foot each of pearlite, vermiculate and lava rock. for nutrients gia green 4-4-4(2C), glacial, and basalt rock dusts(1C each), Down to earth neem seed meal(1C) and fish bone meal(1/2 C). Also added some diatomaceous earth(1/2C) and touch of rock phosphate(1/4) an mosquito bits(1/4C) (1/4C)and just a tbps of potassium sulphate.

MindFlowers68 Some of the plants showing more signs of yellowing from watering issues and ph issues. Luckily I was able to get a nice strong batch of Boogie Brew compost tea made and gave them all a nice soak and bath with it. Within two days all but one of the plants bounced back. Now that the plants are able to fend for themselves a little better was a good opportunity to try to harden them off the ones going outside to the elements outside. I did so by placing on a shaded part of my deck for a few hours. I was also able to get my tent inside ready and they were moved from the small cool grows tent to my 4x8 tent with my big lights. I adjusted the light to be around 500 PPFD at canopy.

MindFlowers68 I got a nice stretch of good weather and was able to transplant in its new 150 gallon home. I set up and inner and outer trellis to hep protect and support the plant. I watered in with a rich brew of compost tea to inoculate its new home with microbe and fungal friends!

MindFlowers68 OG is loving life outside this week. She's reaching higher and higher every day and was able to top her for the first time. Not compost tea this week. Nothing seems to be bothering her yet and my sisters car seems to be helping hold down the garden lol.

MindFlowers68 A mostly uneventful week for the outdoor photoperiods. The were watered once with the cal-mag/kelp solution and were kind of pounded with rain most of the week. Then It got very humid too. I was worried for the plants during the storm we had they we calling for 70 mph winds that took down some powder lines and trees down the street. While i don't have the plants rigidly staked the cages were able to support the plants during the storm. Im not sure if the stakes would help or hurt i have a feeling it would help them snap easier rather than bend with the wind. They all survived and are getting some nice intense sunlight after the storm. I'm hoping I will be able to take some clones this week. Also hoping that my mantis cocoons will hatch!

MindFlowers68 This week was over 100 heat index for several days but the plants did not require any more water than normal. I feed with compost tea at 600 ppm at the begging of the week the night before the heatwave. Then again with cal-mag water 2 days later in the morning and they have been holding onto steady moisture for 3 days I wanted to hold off on watering because we have some rain in the forecast. I also topped of with a cup of BSF frass and quarter cup of neem seed meal before feeding the compost. Still not Mantis cocoon hatch! Sti have not got clones yet, s i have it cleaned the bottoms or defoliated yet as I want to use them.

MindFlowers68 She almost got taken out this week buy a huge tree branch. Luckily only the rainbow melon and bubblegum were hit and survived. So other than that shes been chillin and with that branch out of the way and they sky opened up she should do even better. I never wanted to out the pot there but what I was limited to so just gotta be glad they didn't get hit and have much more sunlight now. Fed with compost tea, kelp, and cal mag solution 700 ppm.

MindFlowers68 She just pushed over 6 feet tall this week. The side branches are starting to thicken up and reach the outside of the pot. Didnt need to water because of several storms this week. I did get a weekly dose of compost tea made for her. The spotted lantern fly nympths love hanging out on the stem mainly on this og plant so i have to pluck/flick them off. Other than that haven't seen many pests.

MindFlowers68 Shes so tall lol! I knew she would be but shes not stopping. I should have maybe tried to train just a little more. But the lower branches are starting to reach out more and the node spacing is getting a little smaller. Got teo big storms this week and plenty of water. I've barley had to water these plants at all outside. Worm castings I harvested for compost tea next week Re looking very nice.

MindFlowers68 Shes 86 inches tall and we just hit 14/10 light cycle. I noticed shes starting to put out more pre flowers so I think this will mark the end of veg. She got some rain water this week and a nice strong batch of compost tea. I wanted to get a preventative mold spray on the plant so I mixed of some aloe with a little baking soda and let it soak in. I followed with a foliar spray of the compost tea, also trying to remove the honeydew on the leaves cause by spotted lanternflys in the maple tree above. It was not very affective and will need to wash it off this week, and also think of a way to get it to stop fast because it looks like the plants are transitioning into flower. I'm seriously moving the pots somehow to a safer location.

MindFlowers68 The honeydew fallout from the spotted lanternflys in the maple tree above have gotten out of hand. It's almost a constant mist. The only thing I could think to do beside moving them like an ancient Egyptian was adding a protective canopy of some sort. I wanted to get the clear poly weave but this green one was half price so went with it instead. With the way I have it oriented, it doesn't really block out that much direct sun too. In the morning and afternoon the angle of the sun is able to shine right on the plants. It's kind of a win win because should decrease my chances of mold later down the road towards harvest time if it does decide to rain a bunch. I tried washing the plants once this week with some light soap and water with a little baking soda mixed in. I rinsed with cone setting with hose right after and the plants were praying next day but i didn't have canopy up yet so they got hit again. I spotted several pale green assassin bugs on my plants so now Im a little nervous about washing the plants again because I want to keep them around. They are nymphs right now I may try to collect the ones i see become cleaning the plants one last time. Hanging that canopy was one of the more frustrating things I've done in a while. I wasn't sure If or how it would work but I has some medium gauge synthetic rope I tied to the eyelets and eventual 4 tree limbs. I had to bounce back and forth to get it tension climbing my fruit trees and 8 foot ladder. I originally disassembled an unused tomato trellis i built to use some of the lumber to build a post to tie off on in one corner but it ended up being at the wrong angle relative to the tarp and I started to get worried if a storm ripped it out of the ground. So I opted to used only the surrounding trees. After getting it all tension I realized that it was to far to one side leaving two of the plants almost exposed, so I had to come back the next day and re adjust but now I have it in a pretty good spot. I survived a decent storm already this week. Just hope it lasts. Overall making outside feel slightly leas stressful and anticipating more of a good harvest rather than just an experiment with my first outdoor grow.

MindFlowers68 My OG Kush is definitely flowering this week. We got a slight dip in temperature and some overcast days that are giving her some flowering hormones for sure. I thought I got more pictures but I was waiting for the sun to come out and then I'm not getting them. Until now watering has been easy and few and far between but with the camper over top now I'm gonna have to start more. I fed her a mix of compost tea with kelp and liquid fish at the end of the week about 8 gallons.
